Courtesy Towards Senior Bicyclists, or First Time Riding in 45 Years!
by compound complex ingreetings, fellow posters:.
i bought a nearly new 7-speed bicycle at a yard sale for $30 last weekend and took it out this morning on our paved local bicycle/walking trail.
the last time i rode was in my early- to mid- twenties when i used a bicycle to get to and from the kh for my pioneer service.

I am fortunate in that my neighbor in the suburbs is perfect for bicycling or walking. I have one small hill that I can finally pedal up after a month or so of riding. Funny too, you don't realize that a street has a slight incline until you try to cycle up it! Hope you are wearing a helmet too! Have fun and I think it's true, you never forget how to ride a bike. -

Prince: frustration and relief
by AFreeBeliever ini haven't posted in a long time, but all this news re: prince has brought up alot of "stuff" for me.
having been a born-in 3rd generation until being disfellowshipped, losing all of my family and friends i had since birth in one big go, i find myself going between frustration, and honestly some feelings of resentment, and ...relief...regarding prince (who, by the way, i am not disparaging personally, just, as most of us know, he would have been held up as the perfect example of what not to be by the watchtower organization and the double-standard/hypocrisy is rather stunning).
resentment/frustration, due to my personal experiences and those of many i knew.

Thank you for sharing. Unfortunately sometimes unless a person is directly impacted by something, they will never wake up. But this whole thing with Prince, well it boggles the mind how this can't help but to lead some with a modicum of thinking ability left to question the double standard. -

They classify social isolation as bullying, yet anyone who has grown up as a JW knows that is what is expected of a young JW: no worldy association. Therefore, when you are in high school and are not allowed to participate in sports or clubs or go to the dances or prom, and you wait outside the classroom in the hallway while the national anthem is played on Monday morning, or you sit in the cafeteria (with students who have detention) during a sports pep assembly because the alma mater will be played...yeah, I would call that social isolation imposed by the Watchtower. Nearly 50 years out of school and I still remember how much that stinks. -

So sorry for your situation James. How did they have the nerve to print that Awake a few years back that said no one should have to choose between their family or religion. How do they rationalize that? -

I am not nor ever have been in this situation, nevertheless I have read all these posts and think there is some great advice here coming from ones who are or have been in your place. Coming across strong is making time to do fun, normal things with your kids. Boundaries must also be set as to the level of indoctrination you will allow (they are your kids too). Be cautious of how others at the KH may influence them or speak negatively of you. And, try to find times to volunteer with them to help others and be around good, kind hearted "wordly" people so they can see for themselves that non JWs are not scary evil people. It's not an enviable position you are in but sounds like you've got a handle on it and stick with it. -

Wow, what can be said after watching one of these stupid videos. Not too long ago the borg heavily criticized churches for having anything geared toward children, now they come up with this heavy handed propaganda. Would anyone be surprised if they started a "Sunday School" type class to heavily indoctrinate the young ones at a level where they could be certain the fear mongering and loyalty mantra is reaching those young gray cells.😞 -

45 Minute Bethel Video about Changes (downsizing) at Watchtower
by OnTheWayOut ini don't see this posted elsewhere, and i don't have the links besides this facebook one.. but here is a 45-minute long bethel talk about the changes at bethel including addressing the hard feelings of people who were given the axe.
basically, everything must change.
we gave remaining bethelites saturday off to do our bidding in "the field" and we give bethelites over 70 an extra day a week off (if you can find any such bethelites).

Lieu has an excellent point: use the extra cash to pay living expenses for these ones and not a penny more of anything extra being sent to HQ cause there won't be any leftover!
