Funeral Fashion
by ThinkerBelle ini have a funeral to attend for a non jw family member and the jdub family member reminded me that i should not wear black.
for the life of me, i can't recall where this belief came from in jw teachings and i'm born in.
is there something in print or is that just a personal opinion belief?

Binky Use
by ThinkerBelle ini am trying to find the ridiculous beliefs jw had on the use of a binky or pacifier.
i did a search, but can't find it, i know others have referenced it on here.
i'm trying to share with my husband; we're talking about the stupid doctrines they came up with in the early years.. thanks!.

Which elder letter talking about Warwick...
by ThinkerBelle inmy spouse and i were talking about something that was written last year (thinking about spring time maybe) that was in a letter read to the elders only talking about warwick and it mentioned - or hinted at maybe - that the righteous resurrected of old would have rooms made there (ya know, like carrying on the whole beth sarim idea again).
at first i thought this info was in a watchtower, but couldn't find it and that's when honey thought it was in a letter instead and might not have been public info.
does this ring a bell for anyone?

He puts it in their hearts
by ThinkerBelle inat meeting yesterday a thought came to me - my mind was wandering most of the session as it was so boring - about how the jws say that god will put it into the hearts of the political leaders to overturn religion at the start of the great tribulation.
they also claim this about maneuvered events in the ot too.
jws also claim that when someone has the right heart condition, they come to find jah.

If you still believe, do you go to church?
by ThinkerBelle inwhile i'm still finding my journey and figuring out what exactly i believe in, i'm curious to know if others on this board who do still believe in a god attend other churches and what drew you to them.
sorry if this topic has been brought up before, i tried to do a search, but didn't find what i was looking for.. having been born and raised in jwland, how easily do you give up those doctrines that have been so thoroughly engrained?
even sort of celebrating (more like acknowledging, no party) my son's birthday seemed so strange to me because i've never done that, but it felt good to see him smile about it.

Why JWs record and report time?
by ThinkerBelle inokay, so yes, i'm a born-in, but this point has always baffled me (and i guess i never bothered to research or ask).
what is the purpose of counting time in service?
when was it started and why?

Intro and Thoughts
by ThinkerBelle ini've been lurking on the board for almost a year now and i think i'm ready to come out of hiding (although, i'm so nervous as i type this).
i'm not ready to share everything about my story, but the basics are that i'm a born-in, elder's kid, baptized as a teenager because i was tired of hearing people ask me "all your friends are baptized, when are you going to get baptized?
", married an unbeliever (was df, but came back shortly after) and we have two kids.
