Jan,
I may not have read all or the same letters you did concerning Mother Teresa and her faith, but from what I did read she said there were times she suffered doubt about God's existence and she begged for forgiveness for that doubt. Periodic doubt does not in and of itself mean she lacked faith.
if u live in or around nashville please reply thru the post
Did anyone know any of the Cloud family in Nashville?
Steve, Robert, Karen?
what is everyone's favorite movie?.
and why?.
mine is 'never been kissed' with drew barrymore because that was me in high school!!!!
I have too many favorites to list. But I currently like:
Sexy Beast:
Hip, cool English gangster film. A retired gangster living in Spain is contacted by his violent, cruel former boss to return for another job. Since he just got through serving nine years in prison, he is terrified of becoming involved, but he's equally terrified of his former employer. The boss (Ben Kingsley) won't take no for an answer. Funny, violent, great visuals, great characters.
Black Hawk Down:
A true story about a US military mission in Somalia that was supposed to take 45 minutes. It went horribly awry and turned into a bloody fight for life for the 200 Rangers and Delta Force surrounded by thousands of angry Somalians in downtown Mogadishu. If you didn't like the first 20 minutes of "Saving Private Ryan," skip this one.
Delta Force rules.
Blow: The story of how a clueless guy got involved with Pablo Escobar and introduced cocaine to the United States. He made tens of millions of dollars and lost it all. Johnny Depp is great in this film. Interesting that when you finish this film you actually feel empathy for a coke dealer scumbag. Pee Wee Herman plays a grass-dealing gay hairdresser and is hilarious. This film is highly recommended.
Sex and the City, Seasons 1 - 3. I saw the first season on DVD and got hooked on this HBO series. Consistently great writing and very funny.
does anyone have a copy of the watchtower 1/1/89 (not the bound volume).. i am willing to pay for an original copy.. "as every one knows, there are mistakes in the bible" - the watchtower, april 15, 1928, p. 126 .
believe in yourself, not mythology.. <x ><
"In our time" is so generic it could mean a year or a 100 years.
Since it's not tied to any specific age group or specific time, there is no meaning to that phrase. The Watchtower knows it.

I remember the Sunday we studied that Watchtower. A sister ran up to me beaming, "Did you see the latest information in our Watchtower study today?!!!" I didn't know what to say. At that time my Bible study was hammering me on the multitude of false predictions by the Watchtower so I didn't have any faith in that statement whatsoever. Of course, I had to tow the party line and not say anything negative.
I've used the damning quote with a number of JWs. It never made a dent. They say, oh, but it was corrected! *faces beaming*
i will shortly be posting pictures from the vigil, .
if you don't want your pic up, please let me know asap and .
i'll blur your lil face out ok .
Thanks Ven.
It's nice to put a face on some of these chatters I've been chatting with.
Nice airbrushing job on Joy2bfree. I don't see a single Merlot bottle in her hand in any of the shots.
this is a story about the heart-pounding rollercoaster ride of buying a house and how i saw the proof that god really does love me.. some of you, especially newer ones, probably don't know that when i left the organization in 1987, i left still believing that the organization was the true religion, which meant, since i couldn't stay in it and keep my sanity, that jehovah didn't want me.
after 12 years of trying as sincerely as is possible to get his help with what was wrong, i gave up and quit, and literally prayed to jehovah saying, "it's obvious that you don't intend to help me; therefore i can only assume you don't want me.
fine; have it your way.
congrats, COMF. That's a nice looking home. Very appropriate for holding apostofests and the like.
hardly anyone has an honest opinion about anything of importance that wasnt craftily pre-packaged and handed to them by someone else whose job it is to craft public opinion.
the intention of the media is to present the illusion of impartially informing, all the while pandering to prejudice and ignorance in order to persuade to a particular point of view.
datelines presentation of the watchtowers child abuse issue was a case study in the black art of media propaganda.. from the very beginning of the presentation dateline was intent on giving the public a negative impression of jehovahs witnesses by portraying us all as oddball crackpots whose religion revolves around the doctrine that we dont celebrate birthdays and that all non-believers are possessed by the devil and that we want them all to die.
There is a standard type of JW troll that posts a lot on ex-JW boards.
They are single, lonely, nutty, and are social rejects at their own kingdom hall as fruitcakes that even the JWs wish wouldn't attend THEIR hall. You've seen them at your halls when you were JWs. They were shunned socially almost as much as someone with the disfellowshipping label. They were considered an embarassment by most of the JWs.
You Know fits into this category, I'm sure. Of course, he has to bring some self-importance to his lonely life. So in his demented mind he is a special person who "battles" the evil ex-JW apostates. But it's a hapless and unrewarding fantasy. It's not one he can share with his supposed brothers and sisters at the kingdom hall. They would think he is nuttier than they already do. Even your average Jehovah's Witness is smarter than You Know, and won't waste time trying to change someone's mind who isn't listening.
Also, no one on the Ex-JW side of the fence buys into his foolish blatherings and rantings. Of course, You Know is always HYPING some catastrophy. But what he's really trying to do is draw some attention to *himself." It's an ego thing, but there's not much of his battered ego left anymore. The best that You Know can get here is pity from some who recognize he has got some serious emotional problems. But for someone who is as lonely a soul as him, any attention, even antagonistic attention, is better than being completely ignored by people in general.
As a JW, I never had time to troll around ranting and raving to ex-JWs. Being a JW is like having another part-time job. And if you have any position like being a MS or an elder, you don't have time for extraneous activities like being the local JW buffoon on an ex-JW board. But You Know certainly has plenty of time. Why? Because he doesn't have a position of responsibility in the congregation. Maybe we don't give the JWs as much credit as they deserve.
So you can expect You Know to continue on with his rants. But don't believe for one second it has a thing to do with bringing anyone back into the JWs. It's all about him. And that's sad.
alanf seem to suffer from ego centricity disorder.
people in thisn place have patted him on back too much it went to his head.
he think that cause he can shuffle a few figures and write terrible papers on evolution book that he ok. he needs humble self and quit taking praise from people.
LOLOLOLOLOL!!!!!!
