Be nice to Larc, Prisca, & Refiners Fire
by Amazing inin recent weeks i have been stunned at how larc, prisca, and refiner's fire have been treated and maligned so badly ... it is just unbelievable.
these are good people who have good views, opinions and express themselves well ... they are supportive when folks are down ... and it seems they certainly deserve much respect.
thought that they need to know how much they are appreciated.

Why work on another post?
Let the matter drop and let it fade.
Unless you have some personal interest in keeping it going.

Hillary,
I'm a huge fan of "Into Thin Air" despite the fact I am not a climber, nor will I ever be. Just a hiker here.
I have not heard Boukreev's side of the story (I know he wrote his own book) but I thought Krakauer made a good point that Boukreev's
actions on summit day contributed greatly to the disaster that happened. He wasn't helping in the initial summit push. However, he showed great heroism going out in the storm and bringing back some of the people trapped out there.Beck Weathers is the real hero of the incident to me. I enjoyed his eclectic "Left For Dead."
Have you read Krakauer's "Into the Wild"? Another great book.

For those who've left - any regrets?
by starfish422 ini left almost nine years ago at age 18; my only real regret was that i was good friends with a young brother and i never said goodbye to him, or even let him know that i was planning to leave (had to leave my parents' home secretly while they were at the meeting one sunday; they had such a hold over me that i could never have stood up to them and told them beforehand).
.
i have no other regrets about leaving; i'm am now happily agnostic and so thankful that i found the strength to break free.. anyone have any similar regrets?

That went pretty well, I think...
by SixofNine injust got off the phone with an elder who called to set up a meeting with me.
my hands are a bit shakey, but i'm settling down and feeling better, all in all.
the elder had left messeges this weekend (i was out of town), and i had heard from my mother a week previous that they were going to come gunning for me.

Six,
Glad it went smooth. Why give the elders any info that would spark a reprisal? Keeping them in the dark is the best policy to avoid JW labeling.
I wonder if the elders have been instructed to have less of the pursue the apostate at all costs until DF'd. I say this because a few years ago the elders visited me and my then JW wife. I told them I had read Crisis of Conscience, talked with Ray Franz, and that I was pursuing my spiritual education. I also told them I would be attending a church in the future. He was calm and cool (strangely curious about what Ray told me over the phone) and they declined to take any action.
However, I have heard different stories from others so it depends how rabid your pursuing body of elders is. My former JW wife's second congregation was more of the rabid kind, and when my ex leaked what I was doing to them, they pursued me.
I had the last laugh.
The jerk elder who pursued me was ultimately DF'd. Last I heard, he had broken up with his second JW wife, was on anti-depression meds, and was paying heavy child support. Justice prevailed! -

Therapy suggestions.......
by flower inok as those of you who know me know i'm a little wacky since my exit from the borg.
i've decided that its a little more than can be solved with just this board so i'm calling in the pros.
hopefully they can just do some type of operation and remove this borg chip that is still implanted in my brain.

If you have been through the "shitter" in life, and you decide you are going to play the game and live your life, you might as well NOT get in your own way with a negative attitude. Emotions are the energy that drive us. Why fight with yourself?
I wonder why people whose life seems to be about pissing and moaning and bitching and complaining bother to go on living. What's the point? I'm talking about people who do this ALL the time. Oh, and they never want your advice, and they never want so much as a suggestion because it's all about their poor selfs.
Andi, don't ever change. You're a light in a dark place.
I'm glad to have met you, and your positive outlook is refreshing.PS Grow your hair out.
(heh heh kidding, I swear! I swear! lololol)

I loved "American Beauty." Maybe because the film dealt with people breaking down the psychological walls that imprisoned them no matter what the cost. It reminded me of breaking out of the Borg. Kevin's wife in that flick reminded me of my ex. LOL! The scene of the boy and his girlfriend watching his film of the blowing bag in the wind moved me.
