the goal of a soldier is to properly serve his master until the date of his service has ended.
that date may be the end of war, the end of his promised time of servitude or his death.
it is no different in theocratic warfare.
Luke,
Gotta say you summed up my feelings pretty much exactly when I left the JWs, the feelings of the JW True Believer who finds themselves in a confusing environment of not even knowing who they themselves are, much less the world they live in when they leave the mental cage of the Watchtower.
I have been out 11 years and still am pulling out old programming occasionally. We're all a work in progress. This isn't limited to the JW experience of course. In time, with awareness, comes wisdom. Clearing out the "tendrils" that you mentioned just takes time.
>Of these problems are laziness, an inability to recognize how quickly time passes
as if abu ghraib was'nt bad enough.... gis describe comrades killing blindfolded iraqis u.s. soldiers testify during military hearing of 4 troops accused of murder
updated: 8:42 a.m. et aug 3, 2006
tikrit, iraq - two american soldiers thursday described in gruesome detail how their comrades allegedly killed three blindfolded iraqi detainees, one of whom was covered in brain matter and another who spit blood during his dying moments.
Glad to see those soldiers are being tried.
I wonder if I'll see any news accounts of Hezzbollah and like-minded Islamic fanatics putting their soldiers on trial for some of the worst torture and murder videos of other Arabs, Americans and other nationalities I have ever seen?
Won't hold my breath.

Here's another one from Ft. Worth. And it's true.
My sister left the Watchtower first. She was two years younger than me and she decided she wanted to be college educated. My mother, a pioneer at least 18 years and one of the 144k, had her watched by local JWs where my sister went to school. When it was in the paper that she sung in a group at a local church, she was DF'd. I shunned her and so did her mother, her two sisters, and brother. I didn't go to her wedding, nor did I look her up when she had her children.
Fast forward a few years. Through debate with a Bible study I had and research, I left the JWs and recontacted my DF'd sister. After accepting my profuse apology, and realizing I was in an emotional tailspin from a massive life change, we became brother and sister again. She got two masters degrees and is tops in her field. Her husband is a great guy and a friend. Her children are doing well.
I shared what I knew with my other two JW sisters and they left. The youngest sister was blatantly criticized for wanting to go to college. She became a nurse and loves working with the babies in her charge. She is happy being out of the JWs.
My second oldest sister divorced her JW husband. The JWs disfellowshipped her. Despite working full time, she got her bachelor's degree last year and is currently a controller in a company. Their son decided the so-called Truth wasn't true at all and he stands with her.
I shared what I knew with my brother and although he is still a JW because of his hardcore JW wife, he no longer goes to all the meetings nor does he participate in field service. We see each other about twice a year.
My mother is still a faithless cult member. She cannot defend, debate or explain away the problems in her Organization. Merely bringing up the subject causes her to become so uncomfortable as to be judged phobic. The foundation of her beliefs is intense fear of Jehovah slaughtering her or attack by invisible demonic beings. She has no meaningful relationship with any of her children or grandchildren but lives in an emotional cage of terror.
I'd love to tell THAT experience at the assembly.
i'm new to tarot.
i just got a hanson-roberts (similar to rider-waite-smith) tarot deck last week, and i have been getting familiar with the cards.
i also got a book, the complete tarot by teresa michelsen.
I enjoyed reading about tarot cards in Michael Crichton's autobiography Travels. He experimented with the I Ching and Tarot and came to the conclusion that it was a way to help you get access to yourself, your subconscious. The Tarot is an ambiguous stimulus which calls for your subconscious to interpret. Thus, you answer your own question. Not unlike a Rorschach ink blot test. Interesting stuff.
in my office building we have a cafeteria that is run by another company.
there is this one mexican woman who has just the most pleasant demeanor, every day.
she greets everyone with a smile and a "how are you today, my friend?".
"It's all about the love, man."

this is some hilarious tomfoolery.
his charles manson-esque beard doesn't seem to help, either.. mel may be a powerful guy, but something tells me there'll be a price to pay for his anti-semitic remarks, even if they were made in a sauced-up state.
Eh, he's a fine director and a fine actor who now has been forced to admit publically he's an alcoholic. He's utterly humiliated himself before the entire world as an addict who needs help and he knows it and said so. The lies, slander, bigotry and media shennanigans Gibson had to put up with from the Jewish community that tried to wreck his "Passion" film were as ridiculous as the actor's comments about Jews to the police that busted him.
I'm looking forward to Gibson's next directorial debut "Apocalypto."

just wondering.for someone who spends so much time on jwd, he hasn't got much time for the endless cycle of meetings and "field service".he's never revealed anything about his creds except his loudly trumpeted 'degrees'.he's got the board running hot over his endless repeating of the same old.he frequents the library at an anglican church theological college.he is a major contributor to an "apostate" discussion board.
oh well, just wondering.
He isn't worthy of any more attention.
All of his arguments have been refuted and are a part of the board's archives.
He is here merely for attention he can get. Be it negative or positive it's accomplishes his goal.
He does not want help, enlightenment, a fair exchange of ideas, honest discussion.
He wastes valuable time of resident board members who have to constantly refute him.
It's really time to say fare thee well to him.
just my two sense, Oz.
