Dead Man Walking (Help!)

im sad to report that my best friend (who is on this message board) has given into pressure from his wife and has started going back to meetings.

i know hell be reading this so, what advise do you have?

When dealing with potential loss of family, including a spouse and children, staying a JW can be a viable option. Not a pleasant one but a necessary one. I've known fathers and husbands who stayed in the JWs and as the years passed were able to help their spouse and kids get out. My dad hung around. All of his kids are out except for one, who is hanging on with his big toe only. Glad he did. His influence was helpful even though I was a Watchtower robot, which wasn't fun for him.

The JWs always taught that the hell fire doctrine of the Christian churches was a doctrine of Satan and the demons.

So I asked...

Why did Jesus use a Satanic doctrine for his illustration?

To which I've never gotten an answer from a JW beyond, "I don't know. That's a good question."

For an indepth book on the doctrine of hell I recommend "The Fire that Consumes" by Edward Fudge if you're interested in Bible research. It used to be published by Commentary Press (Ray Franz) and is an excellent overview of the entire subject. It argues that the Bible teaches that hell is real and there is conscious torment until the final judgement wherein the wicked are consumed.

Regrets of Being Brought up as a Witness

ive never really been one to say a whole lot against the organisation, even though i was really unhappy in the years leading up to getting out of it, i still think theres so many good, peace loving and genuine people in it.

that said i was brought up as a witness and sometimes feel like ive been robbed of a true childhood.. my dad was a lot older than my mum, and was almost 50 when i was born.

he was the po in the cong and being a witness was, and still is, everything to him.

Regrets? I've had a few. I regret that it took so much time to deal with JW installed fears about demons, people outside the JWs, the vengeful God seeking retribution at Armageddon. It took a lot of time and energy to process. However, I was so enriched by the coming-out process I find it difficult to be too upset about it. The books I've read! The people I've met! The things I've learned! These things have been a treasure to me. Perhaps it's a case of enjoying the cure because it's so much better than the sickness.

The main regret I have is the way I left the JWs. I could have made it easier on my JW wife (at the time), her family, my JW family and siblings, friends. I was incredulous with shock and anger at the info I was digging up when I was first coming out and I shared it liberally with the JWs in my life, scaring the hell out of them. I was an apostate bomb going off in the midst of my smug JW family and friends and didn't realize how terrified they were of the truth. They wanted nothing to do with truth. They wanted the Watchtower illusion they were God's organization and that they were the Chosen Ones. Any attack on their belief system was met with paranoia and hostility. If I had to do my exit over again I would be discreet and gentle and patient with the JWs that were in my life.

The JW organization could be the best for finding women !!!!

i was at bethel not long ago.

and other then the hypocrisy i saw the most beautifull women in the world all in one place.

bethel makes the miss universe pagent look silly.did i mention these women are from all over the world, bethelites can stay in other countries for cheap because they can stay in assembly halls.
