I walk every other day for three miles. Trying to get to the point where I can run every other day for three miles.

Dallas Aposta-Crawfest -- A GREAT Success!
by Elsewhere ini wanted to thank everyone who helped make this great event happen!
everyone really stepped up and helped enormously... if it were not for all of you the apasta-crawfest would not have been anywhere as great.
several people approached me discreetly to provide monetary support, which is greatly appreciated.

Yes, Elsewhere, thanks for hosting this event at such a swell place.
I want to personally thank Colorado for bringing the Patron Silver and all the other first-class spirits she brought. I am a veteran of many a fest and NEVER have I seen so much beer at one apostofest in all my life, and that's saying something. It was like a brewski avalanche. Truly it is like the good book says, "He maketh me lie down in comfortable pool chairs, he leadeth me beside ice cold tubs of beer stocked in abundance. He prepareth crawfish and corn and potatos in the midst of enemy apartment managers. Surely I will dwell with the apostates forever."
Great to see everyone.

What else to do, before the Dallas Fest, Body Worlds Exhibit
by horrible life ini have several friends that have gone.
they say this is awesome.
my boss is paying for 60 students from her daughters high school to go, next week.

I live in the Dallas area and I saw the exhibit. .
Standouts for me included:
The man on the horse
the pregnant woman
an extremely thin slice side view of an obese person
They also have a process where they can infuse the smallest of capillaries with a plastic like substance and then remove all the bone and soft tissues leaving only the vein system structure. I thought that was cool.
Definitely worth seeing.

Sincere Question to Anyone who Believes in God
by Big Tex inlately it's occurred to me that one day i will die.
being raised in a cult that teaches you, you will live forever without dying will warp perspectives.
and i've been working hard on coming to terms with that realization, and it's becoming more and more okay.

Not really interested in religion, or religious thought which I differentiate from spirituality. Probably a technicality, but then again I work for lawyers
I wasn't suggesting anything religious.

Well, Chris, the first thing you'll probably hear when you approach the Throne o' Judgement is "Sorry! Sorry! Can't come in. The correct answer was Mormonism! Yes, Mormonism!"
--------------------------------
All kidding aside, there are so many competing philosophies and religions out there. Boggles the mind trying to comprehend them all. It's exhausting even to try. Why not do your own experiment and ask for God to contact you and see what shows up in your life. It would seem to me if there is a God and you ask to know if he is real, he can certainly find a way of transmitting that information to you. Otherwise he wouldn't own up to his own title now, would he?

gay sister? Need input
by divejunkie ini haven't posted here in ages.
but i have this huge question mark in my head and this is the perfect place to get some feedback without compromising my sister.
my sister is an active jw.

She'll tell you when she's ready. Really, what's in it for her? She has to consider her partner's situation too. Maybe neither are ready to handle being expelled from the JWs and all the loss of relationships that entails. Is she really ready to face all that? Is she strong enough? Is her partner strong enough?
Make a positive statement about gays in an offhand way. What I mean is, like mention a gay person you know and say positive things about them. Only do this once. Otherwise she'll notice. If she's really a closet lesbian she won't forget what you said. It will stay with her. And some time from now it might be the key that turns the door to her sharing this with you. Until then be as loving and kind to her as always.
How does she feel about talking about your beliefs that the Watchtower is not the truth? Or do you avoid that to protect your status and have stayed in the ex-JW closet? ;)

Books that SHOULD be movies?
by gaiagirl ini just finished reading "mammoth" by john varley.
a sci-fi thriller in which a mammoth is found frozen in northern alaska, along with the frozen bodies of a man and woman.
however, as they are uncovered, it is seen that the man is wearing a wristwatch.

Blood Meridian by Cormac McCarthy (How the West really was)
Into the Wild - the true story of a young man from an upper middle class family who was looking for himself and his place in life. He left home, burned his money and lived like a hobo. Then he headed into the Alaskan wilderness to "live off the land." He never made it back alive but his diary and photographs told his story.
