Evidently they're digging in for the time when Armageddon really does arrive, as would, of course, seem only reasonable.

Imagine this: A Leak of Major Announcement this Summer.
by OnTheWayOut inthe truth has been streamlined.
the new smaller magazines starting in january, if armageddon hasn't come before then, are even more simplified.
i know you cannot imagine that being possible, but they are.

EVERYONE IS AN ATHEIST
by nicolaou init's the starting point for each of our journeys even if many move away from it.
some return while others never do though even these remain 'atheists' towards a strangers god.
eventually we end up in the same absence of belief and knowledge as when we began.. the journey is what makes a life and if yours contains a belief in god that's fine - so long as it causes no harm.

Noticed you spoofed it, BTS, and beautifully done, if I may say so.

Monsters
by Chariklo inthe monsters in the thread title are not monsters of the mind or of nighmare, but just the friendly (or otherwise) little alien creatures depicting our forum selves.. it's illogical, but often i find myself feeling that these weird and wonderful creatures take on the personality of the poster.
phizzy's seems to me to be perfect for someone phizzy.
cantleave's suits him very well.

I feel like that about mine, cantleave!

Actually, I've never been an atheist.
Am I the exception that proves the rule?

Our new friend Socrateswannabe seems to have been given the perfect creature for someone who describes himself as a reticent soul, while Witness My Fury has acquired hair positively bristling with rage! And I rather like my own.
Does anyone else feel the same about our alien aliases?

Thanks to all
by Socrateswannabe ini am by nature a reticent soul.
i am perfectly happy to watch from the sidelines as others debate and contest, poke, prod, and cajole one another.
as an observer, i still gain.

What an interesting post, Socrateswannabe! I can well understand not wanting to alienate yourself from your family.
Because I'm someone who likes to talk about ideas I think I would find it a very difficult course to navigate, though it must be one that many forum-members know only too well.
Welcome to the forum, anyway!

Why the name "Governing Body?"
by skeeter1 inthe krishna also use the term "governing body", and that struck me.. the koreshans, a defunct cult, also used the term "governing body" to describe an all woman council that lead their group.. governing body makes it sound all so official and unquestionable.
or, is it my upbringing that makes it so?.

So that bears out that what we have here is a publishing company with delusions of grandeur.

How do you study the Bible? (for those that do)
by Silent_Scream inwhat have you found is a productive way for you to study the bible?
do you have a group?
or a solitary preference?.
-
Chariklo
I really don't study it at the minute, at all.
I feel I've had enough for a long time. But I'm very aware that what the WT calls "Bible Study" is nothing at all to do with studying the Bible and everything to do with soaking up WT indoctrination.

The Flood - ? So how did kangaroos get to Australia? How come they are no where else?
by BroMac in*** w62 1/15 p. 64 questions from readers ***.
questions from readers.
how can we account for animals in isolated lands when the flood is said to have covered all the earth and the only land animals that survived were those in the ark?p.

How come I believed this rubbish post 10 years old?
George, you're not alone. It is just extraordinary that so many otherwise really intelligent people believe the WT's nonsense.
One of my early objections to a study conductor...an intelligent, apparently sane elder...was about dating, the Ark, evidence of Stone Age man so very long ago, etc. He responded by getting out the Reasoning book and going through a bit near the back about how we can't rely on carbon dating.
Beyond that, the answer was always the same. Because the WT says so. They speak for God so they are right. If the evidence doesn't seem to point that way, then it is because scientists (or whoever) are misinterpreting the evidence.
