i have seen many posters mature here.
some still act like jws but others have shown recovery and progress from the witness mentality..
When I first came to this site, I was terrified in case a JW found out I was here...even though I had walked away fro it.
I was also really scared of Armageddon...even though I knew it was nonsense, the way the JW's see it.
I was a timid mouse, though angry with JW's.
Oh, me, I'm just waiting for someone to complain when I really get going!
Er...come to think of it....one or two...usually the same old one or two...do!!

Well, I've changed a lot.
When I first came here, I was trapped, or to be more accurate, felt trapped by the JW's. I was being manipulated and hounded by neurotic sisters, two of them competing over the prize pig which was me.I was feeling scared, not knowing what to think, not knowing how to free myself.
Now, I am free, once more able to be myself, think what I choose, think for myself.
For all of that, for all the information, for all the friendships and the kindness, thanks to this site, to Simon and Angharad, and all of you!
consider the implication of being a created human as opposed to an evolved human.. the nature a created human has is given due to intentionality.
the creator wills that nature upon the creature.. .
what escape from nature is there?.
How are you defining "best" in your question, Terry?
Best FOR something? Best AT something? Best qualitatively, in which case, what is your standard?
Best as in superlative in compariosn WITH somehting?
Also, who is to judge? Without further definition, I wouldn't know where to start with your question.

for the first few months that i was on jwn, it appeared that there were very few that argued in favor of a creator and belief in the bible in particular.
there seems to be several more that have recently joined...or at least posted more regularly regarding belief.

I was "in" the JW's for a rather short time, really. I walked out in February this year. I am now just about where I was before I started with them.
When I left, I didn't know where I would go or even if I would go anywhere. Only back in October dis something happen that made me look afresh at everything and took me back to the Catholic Church from which I. Came. Not yet, though, to the parish in my own town. Problems in that church were what made me susceptible to the JW's in the first place, and those problems are the same. But I go to a town half an hour's drive away, where there is a god, very spiritual priest and no-one bothers me, but everyone is pleasant, and where, most of all, I can pray in silence, which is what Catholics do, very different from JW's.
However, that is not all of my spirituality. I find all major religions to have good in them, and I am very tuned in to New Age and even pagan thinking. I do not think tha God confines his mercies to one group or another, and I believe the spiritual world is rich and varied and that no-one and no one group knows the whole of it. I am only now back fully embracing the wonderful spiritual breadth and wealth around us. That includes Shelby and her forum! :)

I have argued with JW's over the data on those sites. It is amazing seeing how a person can use something that clearly undermines their beliefs to support what they want to believe.
JW's are experts at manipulating data and statistics to prove their point, but it doesn't mean that this is what the data says.
They've been practising for years, on the Bible!

The iPad is a kind of e-reader and I use it a lot, as at this moment. Although I have a few books on it, to be honest it isn't really like reading a book. I also find it more tiring on the eyes.

Yes, Data Dog, all these questions are understandable, and i understand people who feel like that. People who call themselves Christians don't have the answers. I certainly don't. All I know is, I do trust in God, and I do believe that he will make all things right.
I can't prove it. As to different people's behaviour, yes, not one of us is perfect. Not one.
