so if that quote from the bible is correct, for every year that goes by another couple of million people will need to be destroyed.
it just doesn't make sense right?
.
According to UNICEF roughly 250 babies are born every minute.
It takes about 4 minutes to get to a new JW.
or do they stay at hotels?
do most jws know who's on the governing body?
if one just showed up at church would he be immediately recognized?
Lett stays with a wealthy brother in a luxury home when he visits family down south. Plays golf for free , eats for free, etc. I'm sure there is a green handshake in there and who knows what else. This wealthy brother can't serve in the cong. because of "something in his past". ????????
Whatever it is, Lett doesn't have a personal problem with it obviously. How generous of him.
did anybody see the service meeting video this week?.
australian sister was sexually abused as a child and thought of ending her life at 14 years old, sometime later jw's call on her father who accepts a study and eventually the whole family becomes witnesses, life gets much better as the sister immerses herself in pioneering etc, she still has some dark days but prayer along with going for walks and swimming has helped her cope with bad memories of child abuse, the new system (just around the corner) will completely fix everything......... i'm dumbfounded, the hypocrisy has literally rendered me speechless......comments anybody?.
They are putting another message "out there". It's a standard PR tactic. They are getting out in front of the issue for those that haven't heard of the problems and trying to change the dialogue for those that have.
I expect nothing less from a multi-billion dollar religion business eat up with corruption.
the jw/wtbt's anti-scriptural & anti-christ teaching that "a person's own death wipes out their sins" (based on their lie that romans 6:7 is to be interpreted literally) appears to have had a little wedge inserted into it.
despite making numerous accurate references to the fact that 1st century christians had figuratively died to sin, the svengalis at the top of the brooklyn pyramid point-blank refuse to discuss/cite/quote romans 6:7 and its true meaning.
page 10, par.
I see your point. The whole chapter in Romans is full of symbolism using death as an analogy (the symbolism is actually overplayed if anything). They write a watchtower article referencing this symbolism with no acknowledgement of a verse integral to their theology, right in the middle of the chapter, that they demand a literal interpretation of.
So instead of own this or at least explain it, they simply ignore it. Shows a few things to me. One, the omission is intentional and a sign of the con job that is watchtower. Two, they have zero fear of the r&f calling them out on it which means they know 99% won't actually read the scripture references or their context and they don't fear the few that do.
Their arrogance is making them sloppy though, I must say. The writing department is spoiled by the absence of criticism.
hi all, just wondering if there's anything going around about the elders receiving instruction from the society to give inactive ones and disfellowshipped ones one last chance to come back?
i ask because i have a still in family member that i received a message from, and urging me to go back.
the elders are apparently saying there is no time left.
I am an elder. No formal instructions have been given like you describe. Sounds like somebody has gotten excited based on the org's saber rattling or you are being intentionally duped.
the problem lies in the way our brains work.
this video is not specifically about religion as a fallacy, but shows why we can accept superstition as a reality:.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c5xqtol5hpe.
Interesting. Video has bad sound and is transposed but I liked the part debunking psychics.
just curious..... has anyone been shunned (just decided to leave the cult)?
let me explain my situation:.
a family member seems to be shunning me.
Like the old saying goes:
"No one more righteous than a reformed prostitute."
i was having a discussion with an old friend last night.
her parents are divorced and his mother never became “one of jehovah witnesses “ .
long story short she claims elders are generally hardier on women than men.
The org is a breeding ground of insecure men taking out their inferiority complexes on the underlings (like women).
I have seen a lot of the opposite too, though. Attractive sisters can turn on the tears or giggle a few times to get out of murder.
But that's the point, The elders like the org because it props them up and gives them authority. They can then use the authority to give out favors to attractive sisters or lord it over the "headstrong" ones. Both with impunity.
..... let's pose a forbidden question....is the jw faith actually the one true religion?
if you refuse to ask this question with a true open mind and heart, how can it be said you know the answer is yes?
put another way..... if you refuse to ask this question today, how can you really say you know today that the answer is yes?.
Interesting point Millie210 .....there are definitely some warm and fuzzies connected with things from our childhood. It is natural to be drawn to friends, family, places and things that remind us of those early times. I can see the primal / survival part of it too. We might form stronger attachments early on to what helped us survive or what we think helped us survive.
You could make some jokes from that premise. Like sticking to the JW religion from birth is like continuing to consume breast milk or Gerber baby food as an adult.
undercover - I agree wholeheartedly. I wrote a post about a similar topic here.
