Like a dog returning to vomit.....
Went back once 4 ears ago, the meeting sounded like an advertising campaign and the haze was totally lifted for me, I saw every item for what it was... instruction for recruitment. Dissapointing, but reassuring.
i read with interest the thread about how people who are mentally out yet still attend (some) meetings manage to do continue to do it and it got me wondering, how do those of us who are completely inactive, no longer practicing members of the faith, manage to pull off our new ex-jw life, yet never invite scrutiny or investigation from former friends, elders, etc.. take me, for example.
i've been out several years now, but have never officially renounced my faith.
i've never out and out called it a crock of shit to anyone who could make real trouble for me.

i am atheist now.
but when i was a jw.
i used to wonder since everything was created by god.
The earliest idols found are that of pregnant women, we find these idols all over the world and they make total sense... theses sexy specimens can make humans come out their wigwam..... so we made them gods. A few hundred thousand years later and its all got a bit out of hand.... "Allah Achbar!"
uk jw charities financial reports (pdf links).
note: a majority of uk congregations have no available reports.
this list represents only about a fifth of the total number and may not be the most up-to-date.
Excellent work. So much mone and spending. I saw gates that cost £5,000 pound and one hall claiming the chairs and sound equipment was worth 20,000 pound. Utter tosh !
just wondering if this is only a regional thing.... i've been in two kingdom halls in the 90's where the parking was basically shared or public... so every 15 minutes, baptized publishers (who were not irregular or inactive) were rotated and had to stand outside in all kinds of weather just to watch everyone's vehicles.
when the weather was nice, it was a good opportunity stretch out to take a break from the borefest.
but i always thought that this was so contrary to their belief of "putting kingdom interests first"... i even approached an elder one time about this and asked: "why are we putting material things ahead of listening to the public talk?
Now young brother, you are not quite from a respectable enough family to hold a microphone or adjust a volume knob, you are too young and quiet to be trusted on the back door, you certainly cant be trusted to help with the money counting and you are not intending to pioneer so you cant count the magazines..... but because of Gods love and your loyalt to this congregation, you can join the rota to look after our cars whilst we dish out and enjoy spiritual food... that is unless there is a sports game on the radio.... then you are bottom of the list... a true privelage is it not?

Its funny, as a scientist and an atheist I will never believe that something can come from nothing. The initiation of the universe is to be questioned and explored with all our vigor... and we will likely one day find the answer. The answer however is NOT that it came from nothing.
To be told by religious nutters that it is impossibe for something to come from nothing and therefore the biological theory of evolution is incorrect or the various universe birth theories are incorrect, all the while promoting God, who was....created from nothing... is just deceptive, ill informed and enfuriating.
If probability dictates that complex mechanisms need a designer, then the designer being a complex mechanism needs a designer.... you watch loving, writing in the sand, plane in a whirlwind, house dropping from the sky, ignorant mother fuckers.
Their own arguments destroy their own belief.
Of course the probability they are talking about is incorrect and simply made up. Just like their watch builder ......

Assemblies dont even have any spirit anymore, they are flatter than a concorde tyre. I ended up dreading the monotony. Once I reached the maturity and realisation that there was nothing new or nothing I didnt know or nothing ever announced to relieve the burden of being a JW.... I just hated them.
If only once there had actually been an enjoyable assembly, the content I mean, then they would have potential value. But...It was always the friends, the company, the nights out and the comradrie that made these events. Nothing heavenly about our goings on at all !
Go to a sports event :D You get all the same feelings without as much of the 'yawn' it will also cost you considerably less but stay in your memory longer. Plus you wont have to look at your shoes in shame as an american voice booms the ridiculous pronunciation of "Gee HOE varr!" as a keen pioneer walks around in cut up curtains thinking he is some bible charachter you have never ever heard of... "Beshizzama'el of Judea, the man who refused to wait for god patience in providing him witha third wife and wrongfully went to the pagan cananites cos they would do oral..."

P.s. Californication by the Chilli Peppers....... will always remind me of the district assembly, a shame, but nice memories all the same (we got in trouble for being up late- i kid you not.)
Stupid paste bullcrap....

I have big issues with Islam, but if you think your beliefs were any less vile as a JW you are as ignorant as the day you said yes 3 times.
Do you deserve to die if you pray for gods kingdom to come and destroy all people not of your faith? Your will and desire is no differemt, they just have more faith lol.
