When I stopped praying and started moulding my life with my own hands I was amazed at how much more successful self belief was than religious belief.
i saw something I wanted, i worked for it. I wanted a door opened, i knocked on it. It doesn't always work, because, that is life amd other people are doing the same thing and we can't always win.
I just can't believe I spent 26 yrs praying to empty space for things to happen, spending 26 yrs trying to understand the mute response, aside the intermiitent celebrations at apparant answers..... Oh look, I needed a new pen and there is one free with The Times today! I must tell the C.O.....

we met them when i was a christian and we have kept in touch.
they had a few other friends there as well, including the new church pastor and his wife.

Welcome to atheists who you know have read and studied the bible, some elders, some pioneers, some bethelites, male or female in a position or not, you know they are largely well informed on god, the bible, jesus, religion and its history.
We also have examined the evidence and reasonings for not believing in god, hence we are agnostics or atheists.
Yet some have the balls to say that the atheists here havent given god a chance? This is one of the few places on the internet where that point is hugely dishonest or ill thought out.

Now, being someone who has 25 yrs in religion and 8 years out, please do tell... What effort have you made to appreciate the atheist stance? To say we are ignorant of yours is ridiculous! We were you for MOST of our life.
By the way..... it is wekk known since the 2010 pew study that atheists are not theologically challenged...

Who Made The Code?
by Perry ina few weeks ago, discoveries were made that show that there is another dna code language that rides on top of the already incredibly complex 4-letter code previously discovered.
this newly discovered code apparently regulates how genes work.
as i noted in a previous thread, the amount of data storage available in the dna storage system just the size of a pin-head would filll a stack of books stacked from your driveway to the moon .... 500 times!

nobody is born with knowledge of biology, maths or physics.... It is learned. If someone understands or knows more than you, they have simply read more. I really sincerely hope, that is the clearest, most humble message from my posts. Anyone can develop their knowledge...pick up the books (i say that A LOT)
I'm just a boring ex-theist who read some books, not smart or clever, there is no short cut to simply....reading the books.
If evolution, the big bang, abiogenesis or panspermia make no sense to you.......Ask yourself honestly .....how many books have you read and studied on the topic you dont't understand? How many lectures have you attended on it! How recent have you explored the literature and papers on the topic?
Is it reasonable to assume you would comprehend or accept such vast concepts without having studied it AT THE VERY LEAST.
On top of the issue of non-study, non-reading, otherwise known as the seemingly hugely offensive 'ignorant' , in addition to ignorance human intuition, the gut feeling, human logic... Is HUGELY FALLIBLE, it is useless as a compass to truth. It is far too limited as it is based on KNOWN knowledge and experience. Whilst exploring UNKNOWN knowledge and YET TO EXPERIENCE erm..lexperiences, the human mind is hugely fallible to a bias towards the assumed based on the known. So are we forever to never know? 150 years ago a philosopher offered.... What if you accept the fallible nature of our minds and use a tool, less fallible, like maths to measure what we observe? You may have heard of him...francis bacon.... this was the birth of science, specificslly the scientific method! P values, chi squared calculations. confidence intervals and alike..... Even using a pipette to add drops of water to a test tube, are turned into math, with the probability of error per drop calculated. When we do science, we turn what we see and experience into math, tsking it as far away from the reaches of human intuition as possible. Is it perfect, certainly not, does it work? 150 years of using this process, the success seems to be self evident. Westarted on horseback or in a horsecart, then we flew in the air, then we went into space, then we went to the moon, then we built computers and a network of human knowledge.... all in 100 years.
Logic and intuition....be careful....don't use it to seek truth, use evidence. Electrons being somewhere snd everywhere is not logical or instinctual, neither are multiverses, neither in infinity or the finite.
Be open minded, at the very minimum, learn the evidence we have, THEN DECIDE.

maybe now it is understandable why it takes so long to do science, learn science and progress it. Bit different to a chin wag in a forum.

Not one of my pictures is from Dawkins, they are all from papers using google scholar.
You do realise I have studied biology (medicine) for 7 years and have never read Dawkins as part of my degree, this knowledge has nothing to do with Dawkins. This is stuff I do for my job, this isnt from a Dawkins book.
In fact I have said several imes over, the textbook "Biology" by Campell and Reece is what I used in my pre-university days (before I heard of Dawkins and was still a believer in god).
You really are a confused soul if you think this is all Dawkins, an animal behviour expert. I haven't discussed his speciality once.

The fact you think you can demand an answer and not accept "we dont know" speaks of your decided mind, approach to the issue. But ignoring that ...there are LOTS of theories that people are working on right now. That is the work being done at CERN. I am a medic, you are asking me to convince you how the universe began in a forum.
You are a fool! Go and by some books discussing the topic.
The LATEST book is "A universe from nothing" by prof Krauss who provides a quantum mechanic expliantion on the formation of the universe from three definitions of 'nothing'.
Been as you don't appreciate science or theoretical physics, the chances of you bothering to read it is about 0%. You just want to own the question, you dont WANT the answers.

It is quite simple.... inhumane, delusional, immoral thoughts are repugnant, be them from a JW platform or a religious fundementalist.
To dissect and hijack a thread for 70 pages, offering such reasoning as infanticide and genocide as being acceptable, then conclude with an explination of "ths spirit" told me, offers nothing to this forum or society in general, other than abhorrent, attention seeking white noise.
Atheism rules?...... I think every single christian and muslim friend I have in my life right now would find Tec's words disgraceful.
It isn't a competition, atheism v theism, think bigger. That comment just sounded like an attempt to jar Simon ( a believer) to remember whose theological side he is on. Irrelevant and a cheap shot. That kind of mindest won't see you finding any truth, there isn't sides, there is REALITY and WRONG.
We all talk these things over because it is healthy and productive. Talking to people with other beliefs is why we all come back for more. When people post WHY they believe or WHY they are an atheist, they offer the world their beliefs and reasoning behind it. Shake them, prove them wrong so that I can get nearer to the truth. But to satisfy one person's need to believe, this thread has deviated so far into delusion, it has become distasteful. To conclude it is as a result of atheist dominance is insincere and a lazy cop-out.

Not even the husband, who by his own words keeps talking to his wife as if she is alive. This would mean that he has seen her as a patient - not a cadaver. On the one hand she's declared dead - but on the other hand she's spoken to as if she's alive.
