Need advice, really wanna play COD
by DuvanMuvan inwell my ps3 is downstairs because i had no idea how good games looked on tvs that weren't older than you are and i've run into a problem.
my mum doesn't know that i have "bad" games like cod, gta 5, legend of zelda and final fantasy (yeah ik last two aren't that bad but loads of religious stuff and magic) and it's getting harder to keep it a secret.. i was just wondering if anyone had any ideas on how i should go about this.
should i just wait a while and slowly introduce the idea to my mum that i play these games or should i just come out and play them and act like it'a nothing?.

Ha ha,,,,,, the age old problem of playing games downstairs as a JW.
Option one, save up and buy a tv/monitor. They are a decnt price now. Or...... I have a cheap projector (cheaper than tv) and even though it is only 800x800 it runs a 720p widescreen and it is fantastic. I have a 42 inchHD Sony TV in the next room and I prefer the projector. Great for Netflix too!
OPtion 2, despite the oculus rift and SonyVR being a long way off, you can buy tv headsets for consoles, though in honesty I don't know about res or price.
Option 3, man up and just admit you play cod (buy an xbox like a real man so then I can kick yr ass on MP)
Option 4, be quick at pressing alt and tab (my Half Life as a JW favourite), or on a console 'reset'.

What is this fake, lazy, pseudo-science motivated by? Just defending a ridiculous point to the death?
Prologos, I have never met someone who attempts to talks about 'science' so much.... and yet with so little knowledge of all or any of it's branches. Seriously, what are you doing man?
I know I have suggested the same core texts to you countless of times. I constantly encourage people to study science, maybe go and do physics in night school or part time? Better yet, go back and get your grades and apply to do it in high ed! That is what I did !
But this is no way to communicate or learn science, dipping in and out of highly complex topics, no idea what is up or down, no idea of even the terminology or basic parameters. Thinking that 'evidence' means Googling the remotest thing that seems to you to defend a recent pseudo-scientific opinion you have spewed. This is not how we do science, it is neither constructive or useful.
The only reason I personally answer your threads is to sign post other readers to the right answers, so that you don't add to the muddying waters of religion in the pool of science and knowledge. Don't be a hinderance prologos, you have as good a mind as anyone, be a help... you seem to have a lot of time, why not go back to schol and start again? I guarantee you will LOVE it.

Of course people change views and the internet is a fantastic source for data to aid that transition. Science is largely learned and communicated via the internet today. Communicating online is visibly changing the world as we watch it. As an atheist I have seen the movement grow and change opinioms across continents in the last decade with increasing momentum all due to the internet and communication.
I have changed views on many things based on this forum. As for now saying you meant, don't EXPECT to change people's view here, which means the same thing. Again, I would say you are wrong. If you bring an educated, intelligent view with evidence, expect to change the views of people that thought otherwise.
People hold a view, because they think it is correct. Only a fool will believe something he disagrees with, never mind communcating that view. It is healthy and beneficial for society to bring ideas to public, let the light of day shine on them, good or bad. If you think you are right on a view, you will share it and you will expect to not be proven wrong on it, obviously. Likewise when you communicate it, you will expect it to be accepted as true or you would not believe it yourself. So yes come share your view, expect to be heard, expect to be believed.... or expect to be proven wrong.
A closed mind may be opened here.
An ignorant mind may become informed.
An informed mind may become ignorant.
The Watchtower ban these site's for a reason, people are influenced by other people.
Lastly, my inbox is full of PM's from people that have come and changed their view over time.

by snare&racket indespite jw's lying to outsiders about there being no hierarchy in the religion, we all knew there was plenty.. i love that in the real world, by enlarge equality is something we strive for and seek.. that aside, focusing on this forum in paticular, isn't it refreshing to see that the opinion of females, of the youth, of everyone... is as valid and equal as everyone else.
i hated the sexist, ageist, authoritarian rule of the jw's when i was a member.
so females of the forum, how does it feel to have a voice post wt ?
