COSMOS IS AMAZING.....
wrong prologos, i love it and all the science outlets are talking COSMOS and Sagan memories constantly right now. You claim to be interested in astronomy and are dissing the best entertainment and education made on astronomy in 30 years. Prologos you are a lemon!
I was celebrating it today on my facebook.
Jon, christians have lost the war on science and information, they don't even know what the words mean anymore and have given up pretending that not only do they know science, but more than science..... its what is commonly known as "bullshitting." Even making crap up takes effort and time, only to be cestroyed by anyone with a high school science knowledge.
Cosmos is a beautiful program, it may get missed first time round by believers, bit as it replays over time it will answer all their questions. For those too afraid to hear the answers, it will be there ready to watch by their braver children...

Atheists, here is a 'balls' question ---even for all---
by prologos init is very difficult to knock a ball into a hole (like golf), throw it into a receiver's hands (american football) intercept it and knock it over the fence (american cricket).
or to put a sattelite at the right time at the right speed in the right direction in the right place to have it orbit another body, so :.
what ingenious natural & process is it, than can get 9+ zillions bodies to get into the right orbit simultaniously or sequentially and have them remain there for billions of years?

Science is a quest for truth, not communication. Dawkins was made professor for communication of science and people like you attack him and call him hostile, for defending nothing more than reality, Dawkins fights to keep textbooks in classes and holy texts out, we are still in the early days of a battle for education and acceptance as truth destroys many lies. It takes 2years of maths and physics at A level, a 3 year degree, arguably the hardest degree on earth, then a PHD for up to 4 years to have the ability to discuss astronomy with authority, even then you are a baby in the science of astronomy, a new postgraduate. Perhaps it puts your thoughts into perspective, no offence intended prologos. I am impressed that an octogenarian is asking such questions, but you are doing it with an agenda, you will enjoy it more just following the evidence, it is also more honest and more rewarding. snare x

i find it odd that evangelicals think Israelmust have jerusalem once more for armageddon to come, the bible written after 70ad was clearly ending on a sour note for the jewish nation.

Everything in the universe interacts in some way, all living things require some form of energy provision.
Out bodies are run on cell engines not too different to your car. Sugar (fuel) and air in, water and CO2 out, internal combustion!
Our energy comes from the turning of turbines, ATPase in our mitochondria. So it isnt about free will, it is all about the laws of thermodynamics and energy transfer.
However, free will is an amazing topic and I highly reccomend you read up on determinism.

EX JW Podcast
by snare&racket ini am setting up a podcast (radio show) where we will cover the issues of jw's, amongst the topics of science, belief and more.. i am letting you guys know because i would like to interact with the forum as we do them, looking for suggestions for topics, looking for guest ideas and also we can mask voies and change names, so interviewing current jw's to help provide people a voice, an outlet for their frustration whilst providing a safety net.
there is no hierarchy, but current elders, bethelites etc that contribute here already will be more than welcome and protected!.
the podcast will be pro science, i will have both atheist and theist co-presenters in the episodes but i can't deny my bias towards evidence and science, but hopefully it should be enjoyable and informative for us all.. i plan for it to be about 2hrs long, maybe an episode a month or every 2 or 3 weeks.
