Why get upset with the new WT donation system? It will still be a success...
by suavojr inwhen the wt went from charging for literature to voluntary donations, they took a hit but still survived.. i frankly see them having a high success once this new donation system is in place.
it will be a success and no dissenter or closet apostate will be able to stop it.
because although we hate the wt and would love to see them disappear, we cannot forget the ones inside will gladly donate, donate, donate.. just look at other churches!

For me, it is just another element of the religion I no longer recognise, we were proud to say we asked for no money, were not expected to give money and had no obligations to hand over money. People always asked us as JW's because it is an obvious alterior motive.
Now things are going to change and it will be a hard sell to explain a monthly pledge from each household to a very wealthy organisation.
There is not one person on earth who can explain and defent why the god of the universe needs....your cash!

Shark Evolution
by metatron inhttp://descrier.co.uk/science/fossil-discovery-shows-model-evolution-sharks/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=fossil-discovery-shows-model-evolution-sharks.
i used to consider sharks to be evidence for creation - and against evolution because it was stated that they are largely unchanged after millions of years ( hence, 'what evolution?')..
that's not the case, however.

Beautifully put ! I really owe that man much. Does anyone remember the Telegraph and Guardian giving away little books on topics such as philosophy, quantum physics etc about 5 years ago. That little book on philosophy explained Plato's concept with a table and it made no sense as I could not think of a real world application of people having such a perspective, then Dawkins hit the nail on the head...boom.
Thank you Cofty xxxx

I wasn't judging you for perhaos not seeing/telling one, forgive me, I was just wondering if there was anyone monitoring your health over the time period of your use.
Thank you for answering , may I ask how you found out about it in the first place and what evidence, reading, research did you do before hand ?

144,000 in Revelation May not be Referring to Individuals at all!
by objectivetruth ini'm testing a theory.. so many people discuss whether or not 144,000 is a literal number.. i want to discuss, what if 144,000 is not a number of individuals, rather a number of groups of people.. .
while there is no unanimous acceptance or truth, some believe that the book if revelation was written in hebrew originally.
my theory is based in this possibility.

I remember reading the verses as a child and saw the obvious math, twelve representatives iof the twelve tribes = 144
With emphasis 144,000 was said, just like jesus and his forgiving people 77 times, it is an issue of poetic license from the writer, along with the dragons and wild beasts with several heads and horns and lakes of fire etc etc etc...
Just my uninformed, ignorant opinion, but it seemed obvious as a kid, knowing the times tables.... 12x12 = 144

Was it something about rabbits cofty? He said it better, I remember he discussed a bell shaped curve and that the average appearance for a species over its time on earth. I believe he offered this as the best we could argue in setting a 'blueprint' or 'gold standard'. It is a very, very potent point as it proves Genesis & the Noah account as pure hogwash.
If god made animals as kinds in their form.... then what the hell are all those other kinds buried under us that change in charachter as we dig further and further back in time, until the species at the end of the spectrum is totally different from the one we began with..... otherwise known as.... TA DA...

Jehovah's Witnesses Have No Problem With Lying!
by minimus inwitnesses brag that they are the most honest people in the world!.
but, they teach their followers that it's ok to lie if someone is not "entitled" to know the truth.. .

Apparantly....
JW's don't want to convert you...
They don't discourage higher education...
They don't judge people...
They don't claim to be the only right religion...
They don't claim that only they will survive armageddon...
They are not asked for money....
They don't shun their family or loved ones....
They don't take the bible literally.....
They are not creationists....
They do teach people in local communities how to read....
They don't have stocks and shares or lawyers or gag orders
They don't protect paedophiles or move them around or withold evidence from police....
But having been a JW for 25 years, I know the 'truth' to these claims....

Want to know why people accept evolution ?
by snare&racket indo you have questions about or want to understand evolution?
it is a difficult concept to communicate and so if it is not explained well , it is understandable that we would dismiss it.. i sincerely want to talk with people who want to learn more or see what all the fuss is about.
we are all learning and increasing our knowledge all the time and it is good to go over facts with critical eye.. evolution we can discuss, looking at the foundational facts and evidence, one at a time for you to go and check, agree or disagree with and return.. no pressure to accept it, you can decide for yourself, also no mocking etc of what you have to say.. .
