Wow, I come back years on and the same people are making the same bizzare stands and claims. In that time you could have got a degree in a scientific field and defended your view empirically and changed the world.......if the rest of science is wrong and YOU are right.....

I conclude evolution is guided
by KateWild inyour qualifications are way above mine so i'd love to hear more about the specifics of what you have researched and how that supports the existence of a deity.
k99, i am not really convinced that you're interested in my conclusions.

As an aside, the same process that gives us evolution and diversity.....gives us cancer. But I assume nobody (outside of the USA) wants to state God guides that?

What crime should elders report?
by kramer inso, i am trying to get my head around what the right position of elders should be when they come across crime is.. i think i get the issuess around clergy confidentiality - and how that might potentially be breached when they talk about it to other elders, let alone the police.. but if people are saying that elders - or clergy of another faith should report crime to the police when it is confessed to the, then where are the boundaries.. so if someone says they should report to police on a confessed example of child abuse, that's one thing.. how about reporting to police consensual sex between a 19year old and 15 year old - which is statutory rape in the uk.
how about criminal fraud if they come across it.
assault on a congregant?.

Any crime. It's a crime! .......and they claim to be religious leaders, Christians.
See Islam has sharia law, Catholics have the Canon law and JW's have the elders book. The brainwashing leads to an elders book trumping the law of the land! So much so a post is titled .....what crime should elders report?
In reality ALL JW's should report all crimes!
obviously, there is common sense and ethics involved in doing this. But serious crimes should be reported for civil sake!
No elder would deny calling the police for a murder in the congregation or a rape... Child rape however they take their time and ask questions, hold back....speak to lawyers and decide not to as they are not 'obliged'. However they are welcome to and it is not improper to do so.
Crime has a victim. Elders and JW's tend to weigh up the damage to the victim and the damage to the Watchtower brand, this calculation alone leads to whether they call or not.

The best thing you can do for that daughter, is go be a good, decent, happy, informed, successful human being outside the JW's. Such people exist everywhere in there millions and prove the JW's wrong. Your daughter seeing this will have the JW spell broken.
Living a lie.....is no way to show your child how to live!
Think back to what you wanted to be, wanted to do. You are free now. Go do it!

Life is good. Busy working hard.
Just been accepted for GP training, plan to do A&E and GP for the rest of my life.
Its heavy going, in last 6 days did a night, three days then two nights. All 13-14hrs long, I have another two weeks of that before I start A&E in Cornwall.
Not complaining however, love it!
Hope you are well and happy X

New atheism is about 15 years old now.....
I think the intolerance to radical beliefs and its consequences are evidence of the world being more secular, whether it be the disgust at ISIS or the Catholic Church and chaste adults abusing children in huge numbers.
'New' atheism is now a teenager and has started making demands ;)

Forgive me, but "I've decided" is probably more accurate than "I've concluded" and it is a bit..... Naughty.... To discuss chemistry and science and then in the end make a 'conclusion' based on opinion.
That is not what science does.
Also, molecular forces explain the formation of these processes, simple physics explains why these naturally form and I'm not sure what your issue is?
Atoms, molecules develop charges and that dictates free movement of particles and molecules. For example, space is full of sugar because hydrogen, carbon and oxygen is in abundance (having formed in stars) and naturally join together due to the difference in charge, forming molecules. Note DNA has a 'sugar' backbone. Your molecule is H and C and O .... formation of such molecules is no mystery and certainly doesn't require 'guidance'.
Lastly, it is a weak argument to follow science and it's 100+ years only ,of explanation and new understanding (even less in years with modern physics and chemistry) then at the point where we are at, awaiting an understanding, say.... "Aha God does it!" That is illogical and reduces God to the latest thing to be understood and when it is understood, makes him/her/it simply more impotent and invisible.
Humans once concluded thunder was god pissed off...... rainbows were God promising to never be pissed off again.... 🙄........
Scientists do not see a gap in knowledge and then without evidence insert a complex, all powerful and jealous deity as the likely explanation.
That is not science. Not logical. Not intelligent. Not helpful. Not an answer. Not evidence of said assumed deity.
The dark ages were called dark for a reason....

I'm addicted to politics. I remember the PO taking me aside when I was about 21 yrs old because I watched Question Time (uk politics show) and was engrossed In politics,
I love predicting the chess moves these sneaky 'movers and shakers' make and even more fun, predicting/guessing mass human behaviour and reaction.
It's so interesting and fascinating. I visited Westminster this last weekend. Democracy is not perfect, but it's better than the past attempts at managing human actions and it's somehow beautiful.
Get stuck into politics, it's exciting times (.....no it's not Armageddon coming!)
