Why are there no black angels?
by snare&racket injw literature is racist as hell.
jesus looks like an american folk singer, the governing body look like a corrupt version of an enron luncheon.. the jw's literally print different magazines for africa with african pictures, black people instead of white, to make it 'more appealing' to them.... just to be clear that means they think the opposite is true too!.
....and then there is the lack of black angels..... .

We know the brain makes faces, makes bodies and tries to make logic of shapes and darkness it cant intepret etc, it can even hallucinate numerous people, conversations and events. We know it does this.....
Despite thousands of years of talking about our dead loved ones wandering around our periphery, turning on taps ..... No evience. Never seen it myself. Is it logical to accept it? Is there a motive or bias involved in believing?
For me, it is a case for Occam and his Gillete 10 blade.

Cost of new Kingdom Halls?
by Blttex ini have been told that the cost to build a new kingdom hall is $500k +.
i have a background in commercial construction and this seems pretty high to me, considering all the free labor.
that is just the cost of the building, excluding the lot price.

I was heavily involved in the RBC projects. You cant deviate away from contracts that WT have, paying ridiculous prices for equipment, chairs and materials that are not the best deal or best product. The prices were hurrendous and clearly a percentage was going to WT.
I remember helping one hall get its sound equipment, even the cables had to be from the official supplier, they were literally 5x the price. The brother I was with was outright annoyed and said to me it was an obvious Watchtower money making scheme. He still 'serves' somwhere, I still email him occssionally.
The secuirty, the heating/ac the chairs, the sound equipment, everything had the WT mafia tax on it.... Thats how it looked anyway, otherwise why the lists? By the way the list had the price too, you had to but via this list. It wasnt normal pricing at all.

Christmas Field Service
by NeverKnew inon another thread, i read that a few adherents may be traveling (cough-cough) to other cities and wouldn't be able to make field service on christmas day.. what is the likelihood that going out on christmas will be encouraged at the weekend services at the khs?
...or do most halls stay neutral on this?
given what i've read on this forum, i have the impression that disrespecting a day of other's celebration wouldn't be discouraged which annoys the heck out of me..

We went one year to the nice part of the town, we saw all the lovely houses, all the happy householders, lots of my friends in school lived there. I was so down that morning, annoyed with my parents. It was snowy, it was cold, I was totally jealous and we had to deny it all and pretend we were happy. Utter mind screwing nonsense. Most parents were aware enough to not make their kids do Xmas day ministry. I even worked with the group overseer that day, his wife and son not out that day.
I cant wait to have my own christmases soon, Im waiting on getting out of uni, having my own home.
if you are a JW here, DO NOT take your kids out on xmas day, its fecking cruel. They can nod along to the line of 'we get presents all year' but the kid knows its a liE and they do feel jeslous. It is not a nice thing to do...amongst all the other horrid JW restrictions.

When people question their beliefs as a JW they always reach a point where they ask "what about spirits, the bible/god/ spirit realm must be true!"
Some people can be stuck on that issue for some time... What about mediums, magic, spirit attacks, demons??? etc etc. I thought of all the cases I knew of, a pattern emerged... I wasn't in any of them. I hadn't seen a single one. It was as simple as that for me.... OR WAS IT...
A couple of months ago, maybe 2 or 3. I was working late in the hospital I was at. It was early winter, cold and dark. The hospital was old and ugly. The corridors are lit by automatic lights to save money. They detect someone walking beneath and turn on. It was gone midnight, I was the last person on this floor and I closed the library door behind me. I began walking down the corridor alone in a quiet part of the hospital, above the A+E and trauma departments. I had been working in the library preparing for exams and my mind was busy with thoughts of exams and planning. Tiredness had once again overcome me, we work shifts all day as everyone else, then evenings are our time to study. It had been this way for over 2 years now, it makes the soul permenantly wearisome and fatigued.
As I walked into perpetual darkness, the lights came on some seconds behind me, the delay was slower than my pace, so I seemed to be pursuing darkness, not light. They clicked on far too long after I passed them. I had not even noticed, before long I was alone, mid corridor, in darkness. Nothing but the distant lit corridor junction ahead of me. A feeling came over me, so strange and potent it took my whole concentration. I had my stylish but far too large headphones on, they were releasing a spirit disturbing sound, some electronic dance music, far too loud for my tympanic membrane and I knew it. My mind had been on my month ahead, the revision, the hours needed, the deficit of hours I had. But all that ended abruptly..... half way down the corridor of perpetual night ....and my delayed back lighting.
I suddenly became aware of the sensations on the skin, the itching of my nerves, my hyper acuity of sound and vision ...... I heard my heartbeating.
As I looked left, I passed a row of windows, the winter clouds were moving fast and high, occasionally obscuring a bright but smaller winter moon. I felt enclosed, there was nowhere to go... my subconscious did the math for me, my brain was still on exam revision..... The answer to the calculation was... DEMONS.
but hold your horses a moment, you jittery yellow bellies....
My brain had realised that I was walking down the hallway of an old hospital, in darkness, making lots of noise and something was not right, I for some reason was not scared or bothered about possible .....demons or ghosts.... The old me would have been, and my body found this weird. My indoctrinated senses were asking me why I wasn't scared.... It was just a corridor, just dance music, just some darkness.... and just me....

i just do.. about the existence of god: it is an infinite regress.

It is truly awesome that the universe has progressed from a singularity to spinning planets, to spontaneous biology, to complex and aware human beings staring out to the same universe voicing the frequenciess that sound out "How? Why?", but we were not the first species on the planet to look out, we are the current one...
