Suffering with "Bridge-over-River-Kwai-syndrome" while fading
by OneGenTwoGroups ini've never liked being late for meetings, 10 minutes early has always been 5 minutes late for me.
i'm a very punctual atheist at the meetings still.. when someone asks a simple question from the platform and not one dummy raises their hand, i still feel the need to raise my hand so that we don't all look like idiots.. my shoes still need to be clean and polished, my suits and ties match and are in good shape.
i never wear them anywhere else.. i still feel like saying hello to people that are obviously being ignored by everyone else.. people not singing out still bugs me, lol.

Be careful, this stuff is emotionally and mentally addictive, feeding the hunger of a guilt monster that has been artificially grown in you via the JW's.
There are far healthier options for your time, energy and efforts.
if I may humbly note, think of the consequences of just one bible reading if just one person listens, think of the consequences of helping the build of even just one more church. The consequences of just one morning in ministry if just one householder is swayed.
Honestly, having left the religion, I look back with few regrets, but there are some. Firstly I am sad for every year I did not leave. We live short, fragile lives. Wasted in that religion! Secondly I feel so guilt for the people I studied with and for the talks I did. I have some relief in the fact I wasn't an elder etc as I am not sure I could forgive myself for being part of a JC or disfellowshiping. Also, not one of the people stood on that KH platform are qualified to teach anything. All data is sourced from one place, the J.w's and with such bias no truth can be found.
Be careful when playing with fire, playing with a cult... Even if you don't get burned, someone else and their family may.....

Congregation witch hunt?
by dothemath inheard about a congregation recently that had a local needs talk regarding going to the elders if any wrongdoing had happened, or if you knew of someone involved.. mostly they were concerned with over-indulging in alcohol, but the elder emphasized "the need to get help from elders, or your spirituality would be harmed".
(words to that effect).
so now there's brothers and sisters running to see these guys, and likely over stuff that happened maybe years ago.. funny thing is the brother telling me about it said there's been several meetings now where people's names are read from the platform, and it looks like it'll be going on for a while.. i think if your conscience was bothering you, you would be better off being catholic, at least your only confessing to one person instead of being shamed in front of eveyone..

Adults being told off by other adults for doing things that all adults and most teens do weekly..
"Oh the local window cleaner is here to tell me I drink too much and shouldn't own a copy of Robocop."
I forget how pathetic the JW's are

Animals not meant to eat meat
by Carl injw don't believe in evolution .
how come animals teeth are designed to chew meat?
sharks for instance have razor sharp pointy teeth these are not to eat vegetation .
-
snare&racket
The teeth are a tiny part of the issue. From their mouth to their butt everything has evolved to consume meat. The stomach, the acid levels, the enzymes, the pancreas, the intestines, the cells, all the bio-chemistry.....
Animals have evolved to procreate and therefore survive in a certain environment. Everything about an animal, is focused on survival and eating is a big part of it. A lion has muscles to run.,chase, pounce, wrestle, hold down. Teeth to tear, cut, bleed, sever and chew. Even it's tongue is covered in hairs so that one lick devours layers of flesh. None of these things are useful for cucumbers...
All these things make an animal what it is, it's ridiculous to claim it once consumed another type of food. It would make it a totally different animal, it would look, live, behave, act like a totally different animal.
It's a ridiculous and ignorant idea,

I conclude evolution is guided
by KateWild inyour qualifications are way above mine so i'd love to hear more about the specifics of what you have researched and how that supports the existence of a deity.
k99, i am not really convinced that you're interested in my conclusions.
in nature amino acids formed to then form dna.

Lack of transitional forms? Have you read up any scientific literature on evolution? This is a very basic misconception, for EVERY fossil is a transitional fossil.

The Elders want to meet with me and the hubby... Lol lol lol
by Sevan inso the elders called wanting to meet with me and my husband.
most likely because i told a concerned jw friend of mine that i really care about that i wasn't coming back and a couple of the issues i had.
i didn't bring up any so-called "apostate" information, just told her about the australian royal commission and that there are a lot of unscriptural teachings and that the gb apply scriptures that are about jehovah and jesus to themselves, which is idolatry.

The only reason I commented on this thread, is the danger that a new member, a new lurker came and saw that post title and without the means to fact check it was misled.
Kate this is VERY dangerous.
I am 10years into medical training and I do not have the authority to make scientific conclusions, never mind a world changing conclusion that there is a deity driving evolution! You do not have anywhere near the education to state that. That aside, nobody does because there is NO evidence or reason to state it.
The danger of taking the lead Kate, is that some may follow. That's why scientists dedicate their life to maybe one theory they have, because if they misled science they would waste their life. You can't do half a chemistry course and then make the biggest conclusion in chemistry EVER made and post it on a religious forum as if you are an authority. It's not right.
We are pals Kate, this isn't personal. But let's be frank. You are out of your depth scientifically and you really don't have sufficient training, education or knowledge to discuss this or make these conclusions, decisions.
Let's be honest. You believe in God and you want to find a reason to believe. That's the truth and that's ok. But it puts your opening post and title thread in a very different perspective and let's be honest, you haven't found that reason to believe here in chemistry. Doesn't mean you won't. Had you, people would follow you to belief and also you would have just proven a deity with science.. Kate you'd be famous with a Nobel prize. So let's gently drift back down to reality, to facts and science.
You believe, you have faith, as assured expectation of things 'hoped' for. This can't be mixed with science unles you have hard facts. You can't fill in the inevitable gaps in human knowledge with....a Judeo-Christian deity, which what a coincidence.... Is your deity.
Kate, you left a high control group where a bunch of uneducated men made conclusions on the bible, on world history, on the very mind of a god they decided existed..... They have the blood and years of every human that followed them at their feet.
This is why people get angry at threads such as this. You still haven't realised the seriousness of your provocative title and the consequences of just one person ....just one visitor....assuming you had the authority to say what you said! You don't.
Maybe you should have started by admitting you do not have any significant qualifications in chemistry (you have admitted you didn't complete your course, of the 15+ people I know that did part of a degree, none claim any expertise or connection to that speciality..... Science is so detailed now....a degree is just an introduction to a science nowadays. I guarantee your Starbucks barista has a degree in chemistry! Mine did and my taxi driver had a degree in physics! He ran his own lab at one point!)
Then maybe made clear it was your religious belief alone.
If you believe in a god because of outdated chemistry questions long ago answered and proven, then can we assume that your belief in God is now gone? That evolution is not guided? We await your post.......
Until then, look again at what you have claimed when someone asked you..... Next time admit exactly what qualifications you have buddy X
"I conclude evolution is guided"
Your qualifications are way above mine so I'd love to hear more about the specifics of what you have researched and how that supports the existence of a deity.

I can't believe adults are debating whether the ark was real or not. Seriously!
This is so sad and says much about belief and reality.

No matter how much you get tempted.... Do not go. It is a game. They own the rules, you can't win. They want to cut off your family and friends and ALL you have to do is turn up.
Just tell them your spirituality is personal and you don't wish to talk about it with anyone else right now.
Don't be tempted by nice, friendly, non-threatening requests to meet. They can give you spiritual help over a phone or via a letter or on their own, an individual, in your home.
Whatever they ask you, say you would prefer not to say as its personal. This way you keep your family/friends and it doesn't make things difficult... WELCOME TO OUR RULEBOOK 😏
