...hello folks.... ...i've read countless of posts, ideas, opinions, etc here and i'm interested in your response.... ...there is a whole gamut of feelings here from individuals that are simply annoyed with the wt organization, to those that come off as hellbent on putting the org out of comission.... ...others yet seem to have made it their mission in life to eradicate the concept of god himself.... ...to any of these, what is your motivation?

and do you ever doubt that these efforts are futile?

do you feel that you posses the power/ability/means to change the convictions/faiths of the masses?

For me....this is a place to vent.......obtain advice and experiences as well as help others. I was once very much on the fence as to whether or not the witnesses had the truth. But after much research as well as reasoning on points made by certain posters on this board....I was able to conclude without any doubt that the Watchtowr Society was full of ****. My hope is that my postings may someday help someone in a similar situation as me.

I know one thing for sure. My efforts here are no LESS futile than the 30 years I spent parroting cherry picked scriptures at doors and stuffing old magazines into "not at homes".

what do you plan to accomplish?

i thought i would start this topic as a result of that one.. i personally don't think i can 'change' anybody by being here...but the way i see it, this forum gives me a place to vent.

when everything in my life crumbled....and i was 1 day from the preliminary court hearing to establish temp custody.....my attorney suggested i have somebody there with me.....for moral and psychological support.

so i called mom.

BTW - A certain other couple and their 2 children are likely going to be going with me and my kids to a local farm for pumpkin picking, hay rides, corn maze etc this Saturday. You want to bring your wife and three boys up?

Thank you for being there for me. When everything in my life crumbled....and I was 1 day from the preliminary court hearing to establish temp custody.....my attorney suggested I have somebody there with me.....for moral and psychological support. So I called mom. She lives 4 1/2 hours away. 6 hours later.....she was at my house with luggage in hand. Mom has lived with me for the past 2 1/2 weeks and probably for a couple more. She spotlessly cleaned the house that I let go because of the depression I was in. She was there to listen to me. She was there to comfort me when my girls went back to their mother after spending their first weekend with me and I couldn't stop crying. She was there to make me eat when even the sound and smell of food made my stomach turn. She did......what moms do. Thank you mom. I love you.

I like the hypothesis.....but what I cannot get past is that 1914 if the very foundation of the cult. If it weren't for CTR and his 1914 dates.....this cult would have never taken off.

Then again....the further they get away from 1914 (in terms of time).....the easier it may be to distance themselves. Distancing themselves from 1914 in 1950 would have been impossible. But 100 to 150 years later......it will be easier because all those that believed fervently that 1914 was such a pivotal date will be gone. If they keep working at it......they'll be able to keep 1914 as historical......yet remove the importance from it.......thus yanking out the very foundation of the religion without any current or future JWs even knowing it.

My Near Death Experience

hi y'all, just wanted to let you know i was out for a stroll on my bicycle for exercise last week and got hit by a car 100 yards from my house.

it was a hit and run.

i got up with only minor bruises but felt really dizzy and asked one of my roommates to take me to the hospital as i was dizzy and felt i was going to pass out on the spot in the middle of the street.

00Dad - I have a list of about 500 questions. But I narrowed it down to 50 for them. Things like comparing a post 1914 article to a pre 1914 article. One says "since well before 1914 the faithful slave promised.....blah blah blah". Then bringing out a pre 1914 article and showing exactly what they REALLY promised. And then asking why? Why weren't they truthful in the post 1914 article about what they were teaching back then? And straight from Cedar's book.....show me the scripture that says that God would send forth his holy spirit to direct a false teaching to use as a makeweight until the truth could later be revealed? Why does the admonition in Deut. regarding false prophets not apply to them? If it is because the light got brighter....see previous question. Or.......why can't anyone use that excuse? Why does the pre 1995 Awake say that it is "the Creator's promise" that those that saw the events of 1914 would also see the "end"? How is that not a false prophecy....since they stamped they made the promise on behalf of God? Etc

Baltar - Yup. I kept evading their million dollar question. I would say things like "well....YOUR answers to MY questions would go a long way toward helping me determine that"....or "that remains to be fully determined". Finally the ringleader got mad and answered for me. They convened for 2 minutes and then announced they'd be DFing me.

The best parting shot came as I left. One of the elders shook his head and said "OSTS, this is sad. I really used to consider you a friend." I said, "Brother Angry, I STILL consider you a friend".

Simply put.....no.

When I asked my wife that question she said "it would take a major change in doctrine". When I explained the plethora of major doctrinal changes thus far in the organization's 100+ year history she thought for a minute and said "well....no. There is nothing that could happen that would make me lose faith in the organization"
