  When the lie is the truth and the truth is the lie...wwc case

  what an interesting conundrum the watchtower society has on its hands today, as they again go into a hearing that threatens their corporation.. the magistrate will have spent some time between the last hearing and today considering what is the truth about what he was told last time by steven unthank and rachel van witsen.. for years the wt has been lying to the jws about the fds existing and then in court tells the truth, that they don't exist.. but the magistrate does not have all this indocrination in his past so how may he look at it?.

  he may well see the admission of witsen as the lie because unthank can prove that they do in print and in the minds of jws even though that is the real lie and witsen has told the actual truth!.

  so the watchtowers lie to the jws may come back and bite tham on the arse because the magistrate thinks they lied in court instead!

  Unfortunately I don't believe it will matter. I think the borg will gladly say "there is no faithful slave" in court....and this admission won't bother 99% of JWs. JWs will chalk it up to the GB outsmarting the court system by the theocratic warfare method. The unspoken insinuation will be "of course there is a FDS.....we just TOLD the dumb courts that there wasn't because we knew they'd believe us".

  And 7million JWs will revel in the glory of how smart the governing body is. these courts are no match for Jehovah's organization! (they'll say)

  CO Visits=encouragement?

  i just found them so discourging.

  i knew what he was going to say.

  BOTR - Personally I would have been VERY blunt to the mom. I would have said "is it normal for you to speak of your daughter's faults to complete strangers.....right in front of her.....yet pretending like she isn't even here?"

  To be honest with you.....my dad was not a good dad when I was little. He got better as I got older. He was nothing like yours however. But he did seem to enjoy telling others of my faults.....or something stupid or embarassing that I did. He would not hesitate to call me names or rip into me in front of others. It absolutely crushed me. I wanted to cry but I dared not. Speaking from experience......I LOVED it when someone would get into an argument with him about how he was treating me. The more beligerant they were towards my dad the better it made me feel because it meant I had someone on MY side. Ultimately I knew in my heart that I shouldn't be treated that way....and it made me feel good that I could tell THIS PERSON felt the same way.

  Kids in hospital, JW family still shuns.

  it was an awful weekend both of my kids were in the hospital with pneumonia.

  one had to stay the night and the other was treated in the er.

  it was extremely stressful and worrisome to say the least.

  I would honestly tend to disagree with you. Even though I don't know your family. They are victims of Watchtower propaganda and mind control. They truly believe their only choices are to 1) align themselves with Satan by ignoring "God's command" to shun DF'd ones or 2) align themselves with God by obeying "his trusted slave".

  Who is Homeschooling - what works and does not?

  my in-laws really wished they had taken control and homeschooled their one granchild.

  today, i witnessed a middle school bus stop bully and another group of teenaged girls smoking something illegal.

  my 5th grader is headed to middle school next year.

  Unless you can teach well and have the time to do it.....don't homeschool your children! I knew JW kids that were home schooled because their parents wanted to keep those evil worldly kids away. When they "graduated" they couldn't even tell you what century the declaration of independence was signed.

  I see the same thing today with several of the youth at the local KH. 13, 14 years old and have the reading skills of a 9 year old.

  The fact that people practically crap themselves when someone of "importance" comes to visit within the borg should prove something. My father in law likes to relate a story about golfing w/ a DO and beating him by a stroke. His conscience wouldn't let him "purposely lose". But Man.....was he nervous after that! He jokes about walking on eggshells for the rest of the week. Making sure not to bring it up for fear that the DO would see it as him having too much pride or bragging....thus risking getting deleted as an elder. Yup. That's God's direction at work folks! Fear those above you!

  And I recall David Splaine giving a talk at our circuit assembly once. You should have seen the crowd. People were nervous. Those that NEVER took notes were feverishly writing down everything he said. I was walking around during his talk when an elder from my KH (who was acting as an attendant) advised that I take my seat and listen closely because......this was a talk by a GOVERNING BODY MEMBER! I proceeded to cream my suit pants at that moment.

  Is There A Nice Way To Say, 'It's Dying?'?

  i got into one of those extended conversations with relatives i haven't spoken to in ages.

  it was full of things unsaid and careful avoidance of saying too much about the organization.

  lots of nice social hypocrisy, so nobody gets upset in the fairy-tale world of watchtower-ism.. is there any discreet, tactful, inoffensive way to tell them, "the organization is dying"?

  But how long can they exist in their current form? (the borg). I ask that because I see a lot of similarities between the borg and say....a Bernie Madoff type Ponzi scheme. They've disbanded Gilead. They've gotten rid of book study because people just weren't going (but blaming it on gas prices and concern for the flock). They've cut down on magazines (without admitting that they are bleeding money). They are selling their $billion dollar Brooklyn facilties because they need cash. They started allowing people to report 15 minute increments for "service"....thus bumping up the number of "publishers".

  It all appears to be a facade. But just like a ponzi scheme.....it all has to come crashing down at some point doesn't it? How long can you pad numbers and cover things over before the real truth is just too obvious? Like a ponzi scheme....you can only rob Peter to pay Paul so many times.

  he was walking with such a slump, dragging his feet, carrying a jacket, magazines barely visible just hanging from his fingertips.

  if body language has any validity to it, this man was deeply discouraged and depressed.

  i remember that slump too.

  i have always questioned the witness belief that birthdays are not to be celebrated.

  another reason is that various customs that tend to accompany birthday celebrations have pagan origins.
