Dubby, you said:
" So, it's sort of a "don't ask, don't tell" situation."
I know that situation very well. You feel like, do they have doubts like me. How can I start telling them, or shall I be quit....or how does this brother think about this point....

Liberal JW's
by Dubby ini admire the jw's who seem to be not too affected by what the society teaches.
for instance; my brother became a jw when he met his wife, who was born into the wts.
his wife and her family, always seemed to be very gregarious people, and enjoy life very much.

My family is very busy in field service and so on, so called "hardliners". My parents really sacrifice their time for that work. My brothers and sisters are the same, since they were teenagers.
But me, I was always different. I just kept doing it because of family. I made always the minimum. Why?
I felt since long, some teachings are just strange and can not be true. With help of the internet, I figured out the "truth about the truth". "
But until now, I'm still a "neutral witness" because of family reasons.... -

Qualified to be elders?
by Andyman inthis is an issue that really bothers me.
the elders are supposed to be looking after the well being of the congregation.
they are supposed to be helping those in need.

My father is an elder. There is a young couple (one year married), which has big problems together. He told me about. I asked him, do you tell them to seek for professionel help?
He said, they don't support that, but wouldn't hold back as well.
I couldn't emagine to get any help from elders, since I know exactly, what they would say. I mean, all they do is quoting the WT and Bible. And this adwise is really nothing new for me!
So I rather would go to a family councel than to the elders. -

Disassociated
by Scorpion init has been an experience to say the least.
i accepted eagerly the teachings of the watchower bible and tract society over the last 7 years.
i have been a dedicated pioneer for four of those years.

Dear SC
what a fast move. Just a few weeks ago you asked for our advise about pioneering or job.
Now, you're out already...
Must be a shock for your congregation.
In only one week, I've heart from 3 brothers which disassociated themself (in my area).
In my case, my family is holding me back from that step. My parents, brothers and even neighbors are witnesses. So for right now, I'm a so called "neutral witness".
Wish you a free future....

Irony of "Rebellious" Youth
by Pathofthorns ini've found it quite interesting talking to several young ones who lead double lives.
the sad thing is, i don't find these ones so wicked.
i find them basically good kids who got a little messed up because no one had any time for them, or attempts to relate were rather lame.. the irony is that while talking to one while he was smoking a cigarette, out of nowhere he says, "but i still believe its the truth".

All your examples show me one point:
For all this teenagers the religion is more a mechanical, than a heard thing. Most of those youngs just don't really have a deep, close relationship to god. They are witnesses, because they don't know anything else and don't wanna hurt the parents and family.
That's why double lifes are so common among young witnesses.
Just right now there are two young couples, which separat after only a few years marriage life. The two young women wanna have a break from the "truth" also. Why that?
Wouldn't it be more logical to stick even more to the religion in such difficult times??
Or is it a good and welcome chance to leave? -

Predictions and Prophecy - Your turn baby!
by Pathofthorns inwe all know the organization hasn't been shy about making predictions for what could happen in the future as far as the world and world conditions go.. now its your turn to state where the organization will be in 2 years, 5 years and 10 years.
what will "conditions" be like?
what are your hopes?

witnesses will become more and more indifferent about religion. Young ones will get a higher education and plan for future. More witnesses will have a career, a family, children, a house ...financial security...
The meeting attendance will continue to slow down, also the preaching houres.
The WTS will warn a lot and try to change, but the sheeps won't hear anymore....
A big group of witness start to discuss some points with friends or family. Doubts will grow rapidly....

Donations for Literature?
by Andyman ini know that there is a variety of posters here from different places.
i have seen some from canada, the u.s., and australia, and england.
so i wanted to ask about the "donation" arrangement for literature.. somebody in another thread mentioned the "double" payment thing.

Here in Switzerland and Germany is the same. We also pay two times for the literature. But I have to say, we seldom get a donation from the field service.

Why do they stay?
by Roamingfeline ini am very puzzled.
when i find out i've been lied to, deceived, and mistreated, i don't ask for more.
i vote with my feet.

I'm in that situation. I stay because of familiy reasons.
Don't forget, even if the number of puplisher decrease a lot, there is always an excuse found for it. It wouldn't die, just make this religion stronger, because only the "hardliner" would be left. I think, a lot of so called "neutral witnesses" can change or reform things from inside.
