I thought I might attend and "take one for the team" and report back. But then I caught sight of myself in the mirror, and saw a yellow streak down my back. -

by The Rebel inhow do i feel about this?.

I think this case is shudderingly horrendous. There was a documentary a few weeks ago here in the UK. I think he's not guilty of killing his boss. But I got the impression he's not squeaky clean.
This psychological torture is bèyond putting him to death. I even heard on LBC news this a.m. that most European countries refuse to supply the sodium derivative chemical that they require to execute humans WTF.
After venting, words now fail me, and its not often my experience.

Do you feel embarrsed?
by The Rebel inwhen you look through a keyhole, and see the person you once were?.
as for myself, i am just pleased i have mended my ways.
i realise ( now) my time as a witness was a keyhole that looked in to the ground, and licked the elders arse.

Rebel - Hi,
I enjoy you proliferate production of threads. Most times theres a hidden gem from yourself or a fellow poster. I think your too enthusiastic to allow certain posters to darken you. Keep on Keeping on man.
Am I embarrassed? Yes & no. Yes when I think back on my time and how dogmatic I must have appeared. No when I think back to my life prior to becoming a JW. There's a certain dignity that I feel came into my life. My marraige was ending. It was at my instigation. Learning bible standards helped me to deal with myself. We celebrated our ruby wedding this year.
I stopped smoking. Only one in our family who did. Only one with no heart and lung probs.
Finally, I learned to be content with the simpler things in life. Only one in my family who didnt rack up massive debt probs.

Where you are in your life now.....What would you have preferred .... To be left in ignorance ? ...Or to know the truth about the truth
by smiddy ini think possibly their are a few valid reasons for either options to this question ,depending on a number of factors .. such as how old you might be, how long you have devoted your life to the "truth" as you believed it .
?....how it may affect your mental/physical health and well being.?.
how it will affect your financial position in your life ,?

Smiddy - Great question.
I'll be 60 next year. I've spent the past 30+ yrs. drinking the kool aide. I had few expectations, and boy I wasn't disappointed. Stopping smoking gave an obvious health benefit. Trade off was mental health issues due to the constant expectation of the big A, and living in a constant flux. This is now calming down. I'm glad I know TTATT.
Good post. Thank you.

For me the worst thing is not having a helper anymore
by John Aquila inone of the things that gave me confidence in life was that i believed i had the almighty creator/god watching over me, directing me, guiding my every step, protecting me from harm, and answering my prayers.
i now know that is not the case anymore.
i finally stopped praying.

John.....this has been on my mind this past week! It's kind of similar to when both my parents died. I was now the oldest in our family. No buffer zone was how I described it. Last week I had to visit the doctoe. A few months ago I would've prayed for HS to calm my anxiety. The realization hit me like a punch to the gut. The reality is "this is it" whatever is going to happen, there is no help for us. The thought left me reeling till I reasoned on it and calmed down.
Good post.

LUHE. Just googled fathers name. Came up with this link.
I really can't comprehend how much is out there. I should have researched sources before posting. I don't know what to believe. [Head in hands in despair].

Driving Force. That's the phrase that chokes me. Some have stated "why are the refugees not cooperating with the Hungarian Authorities. They're acting quite aggressively"? I'm like shouting at the tv. "They're bloody desperate! They've nothing left. What more can you take away from those that feel they've nothing left to lose". -

Found this on another forum. I don't have the source to check authenticity.
Accounts like this are doing the rounds online:
"The ultimate injustice one can commit to Aylan Kurdi and his family is to omit the parts of his story which explain why he ended up dead on the beach. The details matter, so please read and share:
1) Abdullah Kurdi, the father, was detained for 5 months in Air Force Intelligence in Damascus. While in detention, he was tortured and his teeth were pulled out. He had to sell his shop in Damascus in order to bribe the officers to let him out. This cost him 5,000,000 Syrian Liras (around $25,000)
2) After he bribed his way out of jail, Abdullah fled to Aleppo with his wife and sons, Alyan and Ghalib. The situation in Aleppo became dangerous due to the constant aerial bombardment, so he fled again to Kobani, his hometown.
3) When ISIS attacked Kobani last year, the family could no longer live in their hometown, so they fled to Turkey. Once in Turkey, the Turkish government did not provide them with assistance, so they paid almost $6,000 to secure 4 spots on a rubber dingy to the Greek island of Kos.
4) While on the boat, rough waters caused the boat to flip. The lifejackets they were given were fake. His sons and wife all drowned in front of his eyes, in his arms.
5) Kurdi had applied in June for refuge to Canada, but was rejected. After Aylan's photo became a media story, he was reportedly offered citizenship to Canada. But he doesn't want to go to Canada or Europe anymore. He says he will go bury his family in Kobani and stay there to fight against ISIS, because everything has been taken away from him and he has "nothing to live for."
