Looking back,"That was crazy, moment"
by MarkofCane ini got baptized later in life.
i was around 21, i had left and went out into the world should of listen to my gut back then, but instead i disowned myself and came back into the fold.
before i could get baptized, the elder who studied with me said i needed to get rid of everything that was contaminated by this world: music, books & clothing, everything.

M of C, yes yes to similar advice to me. I got rid of duvets, furniture, crockery and albums. Only I never did part with all my Bowie albums. They were my dirty little secret. I'm so pleased I didn't. -

Live by the sword, Die by the sword
by Thirteenth tribe ini may be on a diatribe now but something has came back to me tonight.. during my studies i was always told that "silence is compliance".
this would come up whilst i was 'putting on the new personality'.
i would be reminded of possible social situations or associations where if my integrity was at all compromised by someone else's standards -my silence to their un-christian actions would be deemed as compliance.

Just handed in my Disassociation letter
by Thirteenth tribe intonight my dl was posted by hand by my husband (a worldly guy).
i had the luxury of being at work distracted whilst he posted it.
i have been baptised for just over 2 years and studied since 2010. i couldn't take it anymore, not just the zealous dislike/disgust for 'people in the world' (this includes my husband and 99% of my family btw) but the obvious.... the investigations into child sexual abuse.

When is a theory 'just a theory'?
by HB inthe titles of cofty's excellent recent posts are all preceeded by the words "evolution is a fact...".
richard dawkins is encouraging people to use the term 'fact' in relation to evolution, especially when debating with creationists as the word 'theory' is confusing to many, and the latter often takes the discussion off on an often unproductive tangent.
the following may be of interest, it's from the bbc website - part of a regular series of articles called 'the vocabularist', discussing the origin and meaning of words: .

Cofty, whilst its true that many scientists believe in evolution as you would have us accept. Just google "Do all Scientists Believe in Evolution"? Whilst its also true you can dig out most information to back up academic articles. This is not cast in iron. Points 1 & 2 on your critique are absolute truths. Point 3 is not. You are coming across as full of your own self importance.

@ HB. A theory is just a theory. Evolution is theory. Faith can be put in the same category. Belief in a superior being takes just as much faith as believing in evolution.
Now, moving on to facts and absolute truths. There is no grey areas, no space for interpretation or perspective. No semantics to appear superior or put others down. Even if that was not ones intention.
Good post. Thanks
