Welcome, Frannie! Always nice to see fresh meat faces here! Especially strong, determined women!
Just watch out for the Texan contingency - there are quite a few here.

i was 28 when i got borganized....i wish i could remember the names of the sisters that studied with me....one of 'em's name is barbara, the other one was a pig...guess they're not that memorable....but the plano congregation had not been started when i first got baptised or it had *just* been started in 1973....my best sis friend was carolyn nelson, a six feet tall sis with two kids, harris and april....i was really dumb and married the first elder that asked me....it was a total flop of a marriage, his teenaged son caused all sorts of problems for us.....i "ran away" from it and went back to the "world" for a while....i suppose because they hadn't gotten the "worldliness" out of me very well at the time....when i returned, they publicly reproved me and we divorced....his name was bob repp....he was an elder in the white rock congregation....i can remember a few names...the farmers, steve scott and his lovely red-headed wife, but that's all i remember..... .
then i moved back down here with my older two children, where i was raised and later went back into the borganization....i moved to california in late 1988, got in an auto accident in late 1989, and everything went downhill from there, borganization-wise...i had seen so much cruelty from the platform....even a p.o.
who graphically and sneeringly described explicitly...the sights, sounds and smells of alleged sexual acts between two pioneers, as he disf'd the pioneer sister, while she sobbed her heart out in front of the congregation and only reproved the pioneer bro.....made me wanna hurl....the elders treated me like a meadow muffin the whole time i was in cal.

okay, well there haven't been enough heated political debates here recently, so let's start another one... j/k, mods!
seriously, if i could get intelligent replies to this thread, rather than hyperactive fulminations, that would be much preferred.. my question is, how do you feel about the decriminalization of recreational drugs?
whatever you feel about the morality of using drugs, and taking as fact that the abuse of drugs is harmful, we're currently spending billions of dollars a year in a losing war on drugs, and in the process creating a whole criminal substructure that thrives on selling smuggled goods.. so here are my suggestions.. 1. allow the sale of recreational drugs to adults, exclusively at licensed and regulated establishments (along the lines of liquor stores).. 2. require that all drugs be carefully labeled with the exact amounts of all active ingredients, as well as a comprehensive list of all inactive ingredients, just as is required of pharamaceuticals.
(sigh)
The US could learn a lot from examining drug laws & stats on usage, etc., in Amsterdam.
the watchtower society, struggling over increased costs, gets into a fight with the us postal rate commission ... read all about it at:.

Hmm-hm...hmph-hmph... "skin sacks"
i read a report in a science mag recently,.
it said that males who ejaculated more than six times a week in their teens to late 20s were less likely to get prostate cancer.
godalmighty - does this mean that being good boys now puts us at risk??.
It said that males who ejaculated more than six times a week in their teens to late 20s were less likely to get prostate cancer.
If this is true, cancer has NO CHANCE in my body!
we believe that every red-blooded american can feel a lot less guilty about eating those bovine friends of ours if they just apologize to a cow.. we understand that not everyone has a farm nearby, so we are here to help!.
if you would just read the below apology then sign your name and give a short personal message to the cow, we will print out the list of all the people on the apology and read it to a real live cow!.
it's just that simple!.
Done!
this should certainly bring some very interesting and humorous responses - so go for it.
... only if I had been lobotomized!
apostate logical fallacies part 2 of 2
in my first essay on common fallacies former jehovahs witnesses commit in reference to the society i explained the error of generalizing individual witness behavior to that of the entire society.
the other errors i notice (to a certain degree i realize they are my opinions) are related to this, yet somewhat different.
Well, that’s all I’ll say. I probably could go on but I think you get the picture. Basically I see too many posts which use highly emotionalized language, generalizations, black and white thinking, hearsay, and the like. How can we correct this problem? (Haha – like it will be “corrected”!) Just think before we post, that’s all. Ask yourself: Do I have my facts straight? Is there more than one way to look at this matter? How would a JW view this? If I were a JW apologist what defense would I make for them? Are my emotions getting in the way of my better thinking?
Uhhh... right.
well... the deed is done.
i have been accepted into the regular army and with some good news!
as most of you know my main concern was getting ft. hood to begin with.
Be safe - and let's hope our Commander-In-Chief keeps you out of any unnecessary conflicts like Iraq.
the latest wt magazine starts out by quoting a catholic cardinal:
just as there is one christ, so there exists a single body of christ, a single bride of christ: 'a single catholic and apostolic church.
........although pope john paul ii insisted that the document dominus iesus contained "no arrogance towards, or disrespect for other religions", protestant church leaders reacted strongly to it.........in june 2001, one minister said that the document was the work of "a powerful faction in the roman catholic church....scared silly by the spirit of openness introduced by vatican ii".........it appears that the....catholic curia was disturbed by what has been called religious relativism........[which is] the emergence of a pluralist theology----saying basically that one religion is as good as another...... what then, is the right view?
Oh, for Pete's sake...
I'm gonna be sick from the Watchtower...
this is probaly one of my biggest problems i dealt with growing up in the jw crap.. it's no fun growing up alone.. i am sorry, but i hated my parents (probaly from the time i was 13), i know that is mean and a terrible thing to say, but that's how i felt.
i had no respect for them growing up in the borg.
they taught me nothing about ................. having a relationship/dating.
Unfortunately, I have also lost respect for my parents. When I was being raised a Dub, I thought a lot of what we had to do was "unfair", & like most teenagers, I rebelled (albeit in very small ways, compared to what I could have done) against them. But the JW Guilt Reinforcement System (TM) was in full effect, and I eventually resolved to "be a good son, a good Witness for Jehovah, not dishonor my parents", blah, blah, blah. I find that I have lost MORE respect for my folks after coming to a better understanding of what they were thinking and experiencing when they decided to become Dubs. My parents were Catholic, they married young and had 6 children, one after another. My Mom was first to convert (isn't that typical?), and I think she felt that the "Truth" (TM) was the answer to all the problems she & my father were having as a young married couple. That set the pattern for the rest of their lives together - and for us kids. When you are having marriage trouble, financial trouble, AND have to raise a bunch of kids... then the Dubs show up at your door with all the answers to life's problems, and the lifestyle absolves members from having to deal with any of the realities of life. POOF! You are no longer under any responsibility to worry about saving money for the future: Armageddon's coming any moment! POOF! You don't have to earn a college degree so you can do more for your family's welfare: This world belongs to Satan and will soon be destroyed - better to store up your treasures in Heaven! POOF! You don't have to actually DO any research - the Watchtower Bible & Tract Society has already done it for you!
My parents chose the path of least resistance - at least it was for them, at the time. But they also instilled in me the same programming, so that now, as an adult, I STILL find it hard to complete projects, or plan ahead, or see the Big Picture. But I am aware. And I will not waste any more of my life.
