Why I think Bush is scary
by Simon inhttp://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/4767542/ in woodward's portrait, president bush is single-minded, and possibly simple-minded, in his resolve.
he seems to have relied more on divine guidance than the considered opinions of his top advisers.
bush told woodward that as he approached the final decision to go to war, "i was praying for strength to do the lord's will ... i'm surely not going to justify war based on god.

Of course we want that! How DARE Kerry pick on someone who wants to make a deal to lower them there oil prices. How UNPatriotic of George Bush! George Bush is so anti-American that he DARED to try to negotiate with Saudi Arabia to lower gas prices in America! Hell, lower gas prices could RUIN our economy, and moreover, Bush should be tried as a traitor for getting cheaper gas at our pumps.
I sound like Kerry. Screw Kerry.
Sorry, Farkel - you're way off-base here. The point is, it's illegal and an impeachable offense for the Prez to discuss war strategy (stratagery, if you're W) with a foreign national. He should have been taking to, oh I don't know, his National Security Advisor, or his Secretary of State - NOT to a Saudi prince.

To The Opposers of George W. Bush and The War In Iraq
by L_A_Big_Dawg inas i read grenpalmtrees post to those of us that support president bush and the current iraqi war, i was reminded that i needed to do something concrete to show me support for this situation.
so i contacted camp pendleton (a marine base which has lost a number of troops in iraq), and spoke with an officer, and asked what i could do to support the families of those that have paid the ultimate price in this war.
he gave me a list of accounts, and i have since donated money to those accounts.

Hey, I support the troops - I think the best way to show that is to BRING THEM HOME, OUT OF THIS ILLEGAL, IMMORAL "WAR".
As for sending money to these "accounts", isn't that what our tax dollars are for? But BushCo, while intent on continuing this "war" at all costs, wants to cut back on benefits and salary for our soldiers! If this administration would support the troops, private citizens would not be put upon to send donations. Do you know that, because of substandard equipment issued to our troops, their families have to buy better-quality things (like flak jackets that may actually stop some shrapnel) - out of their own pockets, mind you - and send them to their loved ones in Iraq? Our own government doesn't even take care of these kids, and more are dying every day.
There is also the fact that our wacko President says he regularly asks Jesus for advice on Iraq. So far, it looks like the Lord is doling out some pretty bad advice, if you ask me.
For a more fair and balanced look at where we are as a country, and what you can do about making it a better place to be FOR EVERYONE, have a listen to Air America Radio. If you don't live near a broadcast location, they are streaming live on the web:

WTS is like the NFL
by dustyb inyep, another comparison of the watchtower society and the national football league of usa.
i was just watching a documentary on the nfl earlier, but it wasn't on plays.
it was about the bad habits, abuse, drugs, and other things that exist in the nfl.

I think it's more like the Bush administration: "We never actually SAID that Iraq HAD WMD, we thought they had the CAPABILITY for WMD and WMD-related activity".
Think WT + FRANZ+ 1975...

You Have One Shot.
by Englishman inyou're out somewhere, shopping maybe or in a restaurant or bus queue, whatever.. you've not been to the meetings for a couple of years, you are now an inactive person.
you might even have da'd yourself or got df'd.. you suddenly realise you are facing or stood next to someone that you know is a jw.
you also know that they know that you were once a jw too.. the person greets you and starts up a conversation with you.

What book(s) are you reading?
by gaiagirl ini just finished a 'historical novel' titled "confessions of a pagan nun", by kate horsley.
this is a story about a woman who grew up in ireland during the late 5th and early 6th century, at the time when christianity was beginning to displace the older pagan customs.
the story tells how gwynneve is raised according to the beliefs of her ancestors, and the conflicts she experiences as she gradually comes into contact with those claiming to represent the christian faith.

"The Da Vinci Code" is on my list, though.
