How many rules to JW´s have? Gregorson says 1,777
by Botzwana inhttp://thegoverningbody.org/holy-walls-and-the-winds-of-change-part-1/#more-1047.
is that true?
i have never counted them up but it would be so interesting to see considering the israelites only had 600....

Randy Watters made reference to the 1,177 rules (not 1,777) in his resignation letter to the GB.
"[Albert Schroeder] holds up the Branch Organization Procedure book and pointed out it's 1,177 rules and regulations, knowing full well what Romans 7:6 says about Christians following sets of 'spiritual rules'. Then he actually admits that the beliefs of those dismissed were not an apostasy from the Bible, but from the organization! There IS a difference, isn't there?"
This is in the 9th paragraph of the letter, located here,
(Sorry, you will have to copy and paste that into your web browser.)

Driving back and forth across town, making return visits, when they could easily be grouped together to save time.
But saving time isn't the point, is it?

Re: Viewing the magnified image.
After selecting an image from the small icons at the bottom, and right clicking on that image, I chose 'View Image", which gave me an image that can be magnified.
I am using Firefox, and the choices of “Open Link in New Tab” or “Open Link in New Window” are not available.

The organization makes itself look suspicious by not complying with this law. Why won't it? One reason would be if the W was trying to protect someone who couldn't pass the background check. If it is eventually forced to comply, then how would the Society protect those people? By moving them out of Australia seems a reasonable answer.
It will be interesting to see if others up and move to another branch. When there is no chance of embarrassment, then the Society will comply...and probably act as if it was the first organization to do so.

"... it has been going on for quite some time now. So - now we can wait until October 11, right?"
But isn't it really just getting started? As someone mentioned, the legal system is a big wheel that turns very slowly. Delays, postponements, continuations, requests for this and that, are all part of the normal legal process, are they not? I'm not suggesting this case will 'bring down the Watchtower', but if the only outcome is that the Society is made to comply, then it's a great victory.
I have wondered why it hasn't already complied. To not go along with a law that is designed to protect children leaves me a little mystified, especially when that organization claims to be the only true Christian religion on earth. Is the organization hiding something? Maybe, maybe not, but compliance is the right thing.

I have something of a side question for Barbara, or others.
Why did Steven Unthank, a private citizen, have to take on this case if the first place? It doesn't make sense to me for Victoria to have a child protective law that it will not inforce through the proper authorities. If other religious groups have complied, but the Watchtower has not, what was the government going to do, let the Watchtower slide by forever? What would be point of the law, and how would it protect children, in that case?
Is there an authority in Victoria (or any other part of Australia where a similar law exists) that has gone after any group, religious or secular, for non-compliance?
