2005 - The year the Society began its decline (without anyone noticing)!
by cedars ini've just finished an article for randy over on freeminds.org, which i've submitted to him for review.
hopefully it should be online soon, so please keep checking!.
the article discusses the fact that the watch tower society is already in decline, and suggests the year 2005 as the turning point.

One thing that suggests the Society is in dire financial straits is that the properites in Brooklyn and the branch facilities are being sold when economic times are bad, meaning those properties are bringing in much less money than they would in a better economy.
Why can't the Organization wait util the economy improves to sell? Anyone with property to sell will wait til the market goes up, if at all possible, in order to maximize the returns. The fact that the sell-off is happening now indicates financial stress. It appears to be a fire sale.

What apostates fail to recognize is...
by nananana inyou can cut & paste all the excerpts from articles you want...you can leak all the boe letters, you can pretend to be witnesses and come to the conventions and meetings...but.
no other organization can begin to rival the success and magnitude of the prophecy found in mt 24:14. so apostates....don't waste your time spending countless hours digging up articles and reading books to convince yourself to turn away from jh's organization.
no matter what "evidence" you find you cannot ignore the obvious fulfillment of matthew 24:14.. .

There is much more to Christianity than Matthew 24:14. When you isolate your proof of truth down to one scripture and declare that no one else is doing that, you have thrown away the great majority of God's Word.
Why don't you accept the scriptures that point to false prophets, also found in Mt, and other scriptures? No organization can be God's people and be false prophets at the same time. If you tried to widen out in your view and accept all of the Bible, I think you would see much more of the true picture about Jehovah's Witnesses and their leaders.

Is Watchtower Having Financial Problems?
by 2tone ini have to wonder if the watchtower is having financial problems of some sort.
at the very least they are spending more than they are taking in.
which would explain all of the cutbacks of the last decade.

Which would explain all of the cutbacks of the last decade.
Their cost cuttig goes back much more than a decade. Cost cutting started not long after the expected events of 1975 failed to happen. A few things are,
- Food service at assemblies was eliminated. ("Jehovah feeds his people physically and spiritually" is a remark you heard in those days. No more.)
- Fewer literature releases at District Conventions.
- District Conventions shortened from 5 days (or more) to 3 days. (Saves rental costs of building)
- Studying the same publications at the Book Study over and over (Daniel and Revelation books for example)
- Subscriptions for Watchtower and Awake magazines eliminated. (Mailing costs were huge)
More cutbacks have happened, and continue to happen.
These are the same cost cutting measures that any corporate business would make when income drops, which it did after the 1975 debacle. If the Society has maintained a healthy level of cash on deposit it's because of cutting costs.
When the Brooklyn properties are sold and new buildings are constructed at a fraction of the money received from the sale, the Society will have hundreds of millions of dollars more in the bank. It can survive for many years to come on those profits.

A JWN Member just lost her Husband and She could use some encouragement.
by ohiocowboy inon 4/6, the poster orphan annie posted about her experiences with jw's and her ill husband.
unfortunately, her husband died monday, and she is feeling very sad.
i just wanted to make others aware of it, so that we can encourage her and give her some much needed support during this rough time.. her original thread is here.

Your loss is heart breaking Orphan Annie. I hope the fond memories of your beloved husband will help you to heal quickly.
The behavior of the Witnesses in needing to rush off during your difficult time is, unfortunately, fairly common among them. It seems they do not support anyone that is not firmly part of their organization, finding reasons to ignore them instead.
Best wishes for the future, and I hope that after you recover your life is full and happy.

My son was murdered today
by truman ini have been on this site daily, almost from its beginning, since i left the jws in 2001, but i have been more of a reader than a poster, as you can see from my post count.
i know few here know me, although i know many of you through reading your posts.
maybe it is not right to ask for support, when i generally stay quietly in the background of this forum, but i want only to speak a human misery of the deepest kind.

Truman,
What a terrible loss. Best wishes to you and the rest of the family as you recover from this tragedy.
I was delighted to read the following remark in your post. Putting human relationships first, instead of following Watchtower's guidance, is a mark of a good man.
...when I left the organization more than a decade ago, he never gave me misery over that decision--although I know it hurt him deeply. We had a close relationship...

Hypocritical statement in the July 15th Watchtower denouncing those who "forsake" family members on religious grounds
by cedars ini've had a quick glance through the july 15th watchtower, and at first reading there seems nothing too dramatic to report.. the title of the first article "let jehovah guide you to true freedom" seemed ironic to say the least.
not surprisingly, the way you get more freedom is by relinquishing it entirely to the watch tower society.
there is also a bizarre statement in the very first paragraph of the article on page 7 (bold highlighted remarks are mine):.

(W 7-15-2012, p24 par9)
However, many today have had to endure extreme rejection by their family. This is very similar to a remark made a few years ago.
(Awake 7-2009 p29)
“No one should be forced to worship in a way that he finds unacceptable or be made to choose between his beliefs and his family.”While Watchtower makes remarks suggesting that it does not support rejecting family members, or cause family members to choose between religion and family relationships, the truth is it's a strong proponent both.

A while back there was a discussion here regarding transfusion of whole blood; it seems that it's rare for whole blood to be transfused in hospitals, if it's done at all.
So I'm curious to know, is whole blood supplied to and used by hospitals, or do they only get blood that is separated into either it's primary components or fractions.

Watchtower asks Congregation money for publications
by The JHWH indoes anyone remember the case where some congregation didn't get enough money to cover the costs of the magazines?.
wtbts sent a letter to the congregation asking for money.
does anyone remeber this case?

ScenicViewer
The JHWH,
If you haven't already seen this, it seems to relate to your question regarding congregations being billed for, or in this case pressured to pay for, literature.
Scroll down to Dogpatch's 3663rd post for the information.
