Remember the Bible quote that Watchtower uses to help cover up it's child molestation issues? "...there is a time to keep quiet..." (Ecclesiastes 3:7)

In their convoluted way of thinking JWs will keep quiet about criminal behavior within their own ranks, then ignore the times that it's really appropriate to keep quiet, as in this case. If it's none of your business just let it go. It's entirely wrong to judgmentally impose your lifestyle choices onto other people, especially onto a small child.

(As a side note, if it hadn't been for the Jehovah's Witness card I might have thought the reference to hell would mean it was a non-Witness who did this, but the card is there. Now I think it's probably a bit of miscommunication between the bus driver, the child (who understood he was going to hell), and the mother, but still very out of place on the part of the JW bus driver even if she didn't explicitly say 'you're going to hell.')

Amen to that. But Commissioner McClellan and the other ARC members are very good at cutting through Watchtowers verbal manipulations. I have a feeling that Watchtower will embarrass itself again in the upcoming sessions.

It is such a pleasure to see Watchtower meet it's match.

before responding, keep in mind that certain parameters (such as content and page count) ought to be met before any printed material intended for mass distribution can be categorized as a “magazine”.

for example, the absolute minimum range for any publication to be considered a magazine is typically around 32 to 48 pages while the highest page counts are usually around 128 to 160, with some popular women’s fashion magazines coming in quite a bit higher than that.. so with that said, which is now the world’s most widely circulated magazine?.

For clarification, who said the above quote? It isn't in quotation marks but is it a quote from Watchtower itself? It kind of sounds like it, but I'm not sure.

At any rate, this part - "A lot of magazines are struggling in this era of the Internet" - got my attention. Just a few years ago the Watchtower was sent out to the public twice every month, at 32 pages per magazine, for a total of 64 pages each month. Now the magazine is 16 pages and it goes out, not twice a month, not even once a month, but only every other month. That's a reduction of total pages from 64 per month to an average of 8 per month that are going door-to-door.

From 64 pages down to 8 pages (average) is a tremendous drop, which raises the question, Why isn't the Watchtower "struggling in this era of the internet" just like other magazines? It's now 1/8 of what it used to be. It is clearly struggling.

Yes, some feel that Watchtower requires elders to immediately call the Legal Dept so that the Organization can protect itself. However, you are saying that's not true, that the real reason to call Legal is to insure the case is handled the right way.

That's a lot of choices, so according to you Watchtower Legal must be contacted to help the local elders sort through it all.

In the Fessler case many knew of the abuse, from a younger sister, to the elder father, to several congregation elders, to Watchtower Legal, and maybe others. Of all these, who did Watchtower Legal instruct to report?

No One!

Isn't that a major part of this case, that no one followed the law and reported child sexual abuse in a mandatory reporting state?

So what was the real point of contacting Watchtower Legal if no one was instructed to report? Your argument that the technicalities require contacting the Legal Dept to straighten it all out falls flat. Watchtower Legal never intended to report, nor to instruct anyone else to do so. The whole idea was to try to protect the Organization in this case. And it backfired.

I mentioned in an earlier post in this thread that you yourself "have your head buried so deep in the sand of denial that you refuse to see it." 'It' being your own slanted point of view, and that you can't see yourself the way others do.

You are constantly framing your remarks to try to defend Watchtower, although you pretend to be impartial, neutral and logical. Your own contradictory remarks in the above quoted post go right past you.

In a way you are doing new readers a service. I remember about 10 years ago when I first came here, I would see posters like yourself argue in circles, post meaningless remarks and questions as if you are a deep thinker, and generally reveal your apologist sway. (Funny, at the time I did not know what an apologist was, but it sunk in quickly.) I was on the fence about some issues, but watching the Watchtower defenders flail about trying to defend the Organization, making no sense most of the time, but pressing ahead harder and harder as if they had something, well that was a genuine eye opener to me.

You think you make sense but you are only showing how indoctrinated you are by Watchtower-like thinking. Head in the sand indeed.

While it is annoying for long time posters to keep reading the remarks of members like you because we have seen so much of it, I keep reminding myself there are the new ones here, many lurking, like I once was, who need to read your posts. It will help them to awaken much faster.
