i just saw the congregation analysis report for 2020, a form i have not noticed before.
it asks for the number of "active publishers.
" this is a term i have not seen specified before.
I believe the idea of individual JWs being called publishers is, not because they publish books and magazines (the Watchtower organization does that), but because they proclaim information 'publicly.'
On dictionary.com this is the 4th definition of publish ...
4. to announce formally or officially; proclaim; promulgate.
The most common use of 'publish' is to make books etc, but to announce something verbally is still a way of publishing, which is what the individual JW does.

What a crazy, bad world we live in.
And the religion we were part of, which we thought was 'no part of the world,' is as bad and as crazy as they come.

Double post.

What is the worst enemy of Jehovah's Witnesses? Their own literature!
(I don't know who to credit for saying that, but I read it somewhere on the internet.)

How funny - I love that. More than 50 years later we are still in the 'final part of the final part of the last day of the last days,' or however Lett put it.
I can see it's the April 1, 1967 Watchtower but I can't quite make out the page number. I would like to have it for reference. Thanks Fadeaway1962!
Edited to add: Found it! I actually have that Watchtower. The quote is on page 197, par 6.

I'll take 'em!
jehovah's witnesses are mentioned in this excellent article that begins by reporting on an especially awful mormon child sexual abuse case.
the article then discusses the issue of the penitent privilege exemption which former jws working through scaars.org are trying to influence state lawmakers to eliminate.. .

Regarding Clergy-Penitent Privilege the article says...
Keeping confessions confidential is a key tenet of many faiths. Historians believe it originated with the seal of confession in Roman Catholic canon law, tracing it back centuries, to the origins of the Christian Church.Nobody claims clergy privilege more vigorously than JWs. They also claim to be no part of Christendom or of Babylon the Great. But when it comes to hiding their own sins they quickly embrace a principal that "...originated with the seal of confession in Roman Catholic canon law..."
The Bible says "Get out of her my people," referring to the 'world empire of false religion,' (Babylon the Great). Clearly Jehovah's Witnesses haven't quite made it out yet.
i hope it's all clear now.. https://youtu.be/abcnryekw2c.
Very good!
It was repetitious, but the more repetitious it got, the funnier it got.
Now I understand why it never made sense to me that 1 +1 = 1.
It's because I have an attitude problem!
(He really knows how to hit the JW buzz words.)
Started studying at 16, baptized at 19. (Not born in, but converted.)
Left at 53.
As mentioned above I waited too long, even after seeing things that didn't add up. It's no wonder that Watchtower encourages you to 'ignore your doubts.'
