Sounds very interesting, but I'm going to wait for the English version.

The WT's starting date of the Seventy Years
by Doug Mason inthe wt starts its seventy years with the moment that jews entered egypt following the murder of governor gedaliah.
the wt guesses that the destruction and the murder of gedaliah took place in the same year.
however, the events listed in the bible as taking place from the time of the city's destruction until the entry in egypt require far more than two months.

Yet another Watchtower Lie
by jwfacts inthe watchtower website is currently highlighting the article "are jehovah's witnesses a protestant religion?
" from the the watchtower november 1, 2009. it makes the following comment:.
"third, unlike the protestant movement, which has splintered into hundreds of denominations, jehovahs witnesses have maintained a united global brotherhood.".

Cedars said,
I've never understood the Society's fascination with distancing itself from any attempts at categorization, whether it is fending off words such as "fundamentalist", "protestant"...
Isn't it because the Society wants to be the only true religion, and every other group is false religion belonging to Satan? If people want to have the truth and get everlasting life, they have to join up with the WTS.

Has anyone compiled a comprehensive list of groups that have split off from Russell's original Bible Students, and other groups that have split from them?
I wonder just how large the large family tree really is.

LostGeneration said,
[Jehovah's Witnesses] in fact are the splinter group, both off of the Protestants and the Second adventist movement.
JWs are a splinter group in another sense too. They broke away from the original Bible Students when that shrewd Judge Rutherford found a way to get around the last will and testament of C.T. Russell. That was a big split.

Looking for Watchtower images of Sisters
by jwfacts incan anyone recall or have scans of some watchtower images of sisters?
i am particularly interested in those that show the headship arrangement, such as a sister displaying submission to a husband or elder.
even better, have there been any images of sisters wearing head coverings.

Article Her Head Covering and Congregational Activities, 4-1-1964 Watchtower, p205-211, par12 (The information might be a bit dated. The artwork certainly is.)
[Head covering needed]
"12 To illustrate: A sister who conducts the congregation Watchtower study or, as has already been mentioned, a congregation book study, should wear a head covering while doing so, as should a sister who offers prayer at such meetings, and they would do so even though being seated at the time.
"In most cases where a sister presides at a meeting with her head covered the number in attendance is quite small, and it would normally not be necessary for her to stand while conducting. Even at the Watchtower study the attendance may not be more than what is usually to be found at a congregation book study, so those attending can be grouped around in a similar way to that of such a study, and the conductor, while facing the audience, can remain seated in almost all instances.
[Not needed]
"The sister reading the paragraphs can do so from her seat, and, as the one reading, she does not need to have her head covered. The Watchtower is doing the teaching. Even if, due to a larger attendance and with no qualified brother available, the sister had to stand to read in order for all to hear, she would not necessarily have to wear a head coveringsince she is not teaching or presiding at the meeting. She is not giving a talk, only reading a summary from The Watchtower.
[It depends]
"However, here again the sister may prefer to wear a head covering as being suitable for the occasion, and so this would be according to her conscience in the matter. If a sister is wearing a head covering as her normal practice she certainly does not have to remove it at any time while carrying on true worship."
Details, details.

LeavingWT's DA letter
by irondork inthe blood issue has been an ongoing arguement between the roomie and me.
not heated, by any means, but she keeps qouting back established wts reasoning on the subject.

And thank you LeavingWT.
It is one of the best written, most non-judgmental, clearly stated presentations I have read on the blood issue. This is the way I like to talk to Witnesses (or any one else) regarding Watchtower issues.
When we let the anger show it turns people off because they feel we have an axe to grind, but when it is said the way you have said it, it opens minds. It is seen as educational.
It's his similar approach to exposing WTS issues that attracts me to Ray Franz.

Do JW's Have A Tribulation Plan
by Pig init is likely that at some time or other there will be a major shtf scenario.. my parents always talked of all going to the kingdom hall and waiting it out while god destroyed the evil people.. but bethal doesnt actually have food stocks and medical stocks, does it?
they dont have a plan to distribute essential supplies to groups of jw's residing on watchtower owned land, do they?.
if there is a ww3 and the watchtower says "ok this is it, this is the big a" then what?.

The original reason for having small, in-home groups, aka the book study, was to have an organized way to meet when KHs were shut down during the tribulation. Since that's gone Witnesses appear to have less of a survival plan than they've ever had.

What is the WT's current stance on the age of the earth?
by popcorn_eater inthe reason i ask is i remember reading quite recently, in i think an "awake" mag about creation, that other churches confuse people by insisting on young earth creationism, which causes people to lose their faith.
the magazine was going off on groups and churches who insist on teaching science that conflicts with the bible (....).
i thought the wt was a proponent of this young earth creationism as well.

"They've quietly dropped it [7000 yr Day], never to be repeated, but the old timers still remember it..."
I too have heard Witnesses mention the 7000 year Day since 1975, even in a talk once, but it was probably 20 yrs ago. I fugured he was not up to date, or never understood the logic behind the 7000 yr day to begin with, which is a problem with many Witnesses...they don't understand the reason for many of their beliefs and it doesn't register with them when something gets dropped.
I blame the Society for that too, since they don't clarify when a change in belief happens. I guess they do this on purpose, to not alert the Witnesses that there was a wrong belief.
