What's The Biggest Difference In Today's JWs And The Witnesses From Decades Ago?

i believe today's witnesses lack zeal, resolve, "love" of the "truth"......just to name a few things.. years ago, witnesses were excited to knock on doors and tell people they were gonna die if they didn't accept paradise.. now, when you see jws in service, they all look zombied out.. it's a slowly dying religion that will last probably forever like an ancient rotted out tree..

Overall, the comments indicate the natural outcome of allowing joyless Jaraczic thinking to rule—as indeed it does, even to the point of the Service Department eclipsing the Writing Department, with their own HQ up in Patterson and, of course, Jaracz hand picking all the GB successors.

Of course, by now you realize that whatever reason was officially given for discontinuing them is certainly NOT the real reasons(s).

Does the society assign circuit overseers based on their personalities?

the reason i am asking is that lately i've noticed a trend.

we get a real good down to earth guy who is easy to work with and we get used to his way.

of doing things and then 3 years later we get a self righteous abusive a$$hole that thinks he is above all.

MM's comment has been my experience too:

"Yes, I have noticed a 'good cop, bad cop' rotation also."

Either the guys in the service dept. know the story and do this intentionally or it must be Jehovah's direction!

Is it okay for JW to attend college with religious affliations?

i know they discourage attending college, but if someone attended college with religious affliations?

is that a judicial matter?

I know a sister who works at a religious college. She is loyal, zealous, and so on—a true believer. I'd rather not mention any names or the college's affiliaiton so that she doesn't get in trouble with some crazy power-hungry nutty elder, but she's even taken religous studies classes there, always defending her own faith, of course.

I couldn't teach things I knew to be erroneous, just for unity or whatever. The way of life all seemed so brainless.

Mass defection possible?

there are many of us who are trapped within the religion and are looking at leaving.

i was wondering..... if there was an organized and well publicized effort to leave the organization en-masse on a certain date yet to be determined, how many do you think would participate?.

one person leaves the org and it creates a small ripple.

Maybe they don't qualify as a mass defection on one day, but the borg's history is full of times when large numbers left: when JFR took over, 1975, 1980. They've survived them all with little more than a ripple. Of course, you can always live in fantasyland and dream...

Special day Last talk "No formula"

this weekend at our special assembly day, let gods will take place the final talk was a head shaker.... the bethel speaker was quite entertaining when he joked @ the shortcomings of the elders.

he also made us laugh with the comment "we were told the end of the system is right around the corner, but we've found its been more than that, we've been around the blocks a few times.

" he told the young ones to make the truth their own by researching in the wtbts publication (only).

Thanks for the share, Mommie Tiger! It's good to hear the latest propanganda from those still attending . The overall message sounds the same: we will try to appear somewhat 'liberal' but, of course, are certainly not. Just do what the borg tells you, believe what the borg tells you, and question nothing. They just dress it up however they want this week and that.

Please keep us informed as you attend meetings.

JW's Thoughts on Medical Cannabis

i've wondered this for sometime.

to all of the jws on the forum, what is your opinion on medical cannabis?

i support it for a couple of reasons.. 1. i've battled clinical depression since age 9. after my anti-depressants stopped working when i was 21, i heard about cannabis' positive effects on depression through the internet and a couple of documentaries so i tried it.
