Zetterholm book
by aristeas ini've been a member of this forum for over 2 months now and it has been a real experience.
there seems to be a large number of ex-jw atheists or deists here.
while lacking faith, these people appear to have a variety of views that may perhaps be classified as more 'objective' than others with a believer's perspective (still in the wt fold but secretly looking around, having left it but still believe in god, or who have left but joined some other group).

Anyone know of a list of the 540+ variants?
by aristeas inlast year (oct.) the society of biblical literature (sbl) published a new greek text of the new testament, called the sbl edition.
its editor is michael holmes, a prof. of biblical studies at bethel college in st. paul, mn.
he had previously published a number of greek editions with english translations of the apostolic fathers (af, basically the church fathers who most immediately followed the apostles, usu.

Zoe Knox's article
by aristeas inthe june, 2011 issue of the journal of religious history (religious history a sociological perspective) contains an article that some might find interesting (and perhaps a little naive) on jws and their history.
for what it's worth i dled it from a university webpage that pays to subscribe to the journal and then tried posting it on zhare, but didn't take.
anyone got another free, no-need-to-join host that i can post it on so all can dl it?

Does anyone know if they are still teaching the GT to newbies?
by aristeas init has been quite an eye-opening last two weeks or so since i discovered & joined this site.
i'm learning a lot and there's no doubt much still to learn.
i must continue to thank so many posters for contributing information not available elsewhere on a wide variety of topics.

Does anyone know about the 2010 songbook?
by aristeas ini only recently found out that there was a new songbook 'released' last year.
i came in under the old pink flexi-cover one.
then in 1984 that oversized 225 song brown one came out.

Will the Menlo Park thing crack the wall the GB has put up?
by aristeas insince i'm new here (& at other similar websites) and have been largely learning by reading old posts, i hope i'm not being too repetitive.. back around 2000 the gb, likely at the behest of witness lawyers like brumley, removed themselves from all officerships of the legal corporations and installed non-partaking trustworthy bethel heavies to those posts nearly always held previously by gb members/'anointed ones'.
it seems a shielding of themsleves from legal responsibility was their true motive.. http://www.rickross.com/reference/jw/jw49.html .
since it looks like don adams is going to be subpoenaed in the ongoing menlo park case, what if some sharp, informed attorney presses him on the source of his orders/direction, and he has to fess up that it's all the gb?

MORE anointed?
by aristeas inquandry, a veteran member here (since 2006 with 3400+ posts), sent me this thoughtful reply after my first post a few days ago.
i'm reposting it as a new thread to see if others would like to comment on the point she brings up on the rising number of 'anointed' ones.
i had mentioned that i've been mainly out of jw contact (officially anywaya few ex-j dubs/inactive ones i have kept in contact with minimally) for over 20 years.

Newbie here
by aristeas insome forums/boards have a greetings section for newbies, but i couldn't find one here, so i guess i should post here.. i was an active witness in the 70s and 80s but decided i couldn't conscientiously continue participating so i just dropped out.
unlke many others, i don't have witness family.
thus it was easy to just move & drop out.
