I confess I am genuinely surprised to find so many people reporting that real JWs have a problem with this. I thought for sure that this would be one of those things the XJWs get geeked up about but all those still inside don't even notice. Happy to be mistaken.

Sparlock Drives My Wife to the Brink of Apostasy
by breakfast of champions ini reported the other night that we sat down to watch the new video, and while my wife was smiling and laughing while watching the first part, she stiffened and became quiet during part two.

Breaking the law under the guise of religion / getting away with slavery
by wasblind inin the past i've compared the wts to slavery, but this book validates what i've come to know about this organization.. .
'cuz slavery ain't sweet, no matter how faithful and discreet.

I'm sorry snowbird; you are telling us the Elders have hunted you down with dogs? They sold your child for cash?
This comparison is absurd. Worse, it is offensive. Sorry, but it is.

Or perhaps, askduane, it really is weird for the GB to get cranky about a toy. Maybe kids use fantasy to begin to relate to reality and to develop their sense of wonder about what really is a wonderful world. Nobody can take seriously the idea that a little wizzard toy can lead a person to begin sacrificing chickens.

wasblind, you cannot be serious.
mrsjones, I think such a comparison, when taken seriously, distorts both the experience of slavery in the US and the experience of JWs. In the process, it does great violence to the crucial distinction: a JW can always simply decide to not be a JW. A slave would be killed. But, if I haven't given you reason to question your viewpoint, then your viewpoint cannot be changed. That doesn't make it less odious.

I'm all for a good hyperbole, mrsjones, but I think this goes much too far even for the boundaries of bad taste. West Africans were brought here literally in chains and were literally property. JW-ism, for all its faults, is still a voluntary organization. To end it, people merely need to exercise their will; we do not require the slaughter of 750,000 Americans to end it. "All the markings of slavery," with the JWs? Please, that's not even funny.

Forgive me, but I find this comparison of African chattel slavery and the experience of JWs to be offensive in the extreme.

Why I Hate Religion
by Christ Alone ini know this is a few months old.
but i think it's profound to people that still think like the wt trained them to think.
even after coming out of the wt, they still feel that all christians believe that they alone have the true religion or denomination.

Don't think that was a common method of conversion, to be honest. And even if it was, you'd have to admit it was more efficient than knocking on doors.

Don't know when I said numbers make it right, still thinking, that is your own comment. What I said was that the very large numbers of Catholics and Christians that exist today are the result of the Church's activity over a couple thousand years. Therefore, something about spreading the gospel was most likely one of the things the Church was all about.

Elihu Books Website, Why Is Web Traffic So Limited?
by Bubblegum Apotheosis ini checked out elihu books, the website looks decent and the writer does his due diligence.
the next step was to look at the "message boards" which appeared to have virtually no traffic.
why is elihu a virtual ghostown, with little webtraffic, (i looked at the postboard counts)?

I thought he was starting his own church... I think that looking at the style and approach of successful mega-churches and Stafford might uncover a couple differences that could be important.

Besides, there's only one man on this earth who could write something to change the way you look at reality.
You might think that way if you stopped your education after a year in community college, SBC. I keep inviting you to engage in reality, but posting your google images makes you feel too good: confirms your old bigotry and your sense of self-worth, derived from getting rid of the JWs, all at once. Drink it up, my man.
so sulla...is your point that you just want to belong to an institution? Regarless of its perverse behaviour. We are not talking about a few perverted people...we are talking about the foundations of the institution and what they are really about.
The foundation of the institution was Jesus Christ, who I think was raised from the dead. And what they are really about? Well, there are a billion Catholics in this world and another billion Christians; they didn't all get here on their own. So, in between all the whoring and corruption, some preaching of the gospel must have happened somewhere along the line, I guess.
But with respect to institutions and their bad behavior: what am I supposed to do? If politicians are screwing interns and taking bribes, do I stop being American? Do I go look for some country where that sort of thing doesn't happen? Do you move towns every time the mayor turns out to be corrupt?
I have nothing personal against any individual prostitutes...but I do have a problem with a 'religion' running brothels. And using the income to build their churches and fund their inquisitions. And at the same time condeming the prostitutes for what they do.
When we grow up, we have to get over this thing where, every time we hear about somebody acting hypocritically, we act like our cherry just got popped and that it hurt a hell of a lot more than the girls said it would. Good family men fuck the nanny; teachers' union supporters reject school vouchers but send their own kids to private school. Good rule of thumb: people will do the cowardly, corrupt, or craven thing whenever they can. Which is always. That's life.
I think Sulla is one scary &*$# and is a good representative for all sorts of religions. In fact, this is the type of mentality that could get you elected pope!
Not sure what I did to frighten you: you haven't been threatened in any way and I haven't said I support legislation that harms you otherwise. Are you generally frightened of people with whom you disagree?
