LDH, I certainly understand your feelings, and I encourage you to do whatever your conscience tells you will help the most people.
The lack of love that JW's show is not news to most people. Everyone seems to know someone who became a JW, then shut themselves off from their previous friends and their families.
If we all stand up for, and act out of, love, then any tyrannical thought system cannot stand for long.

I must respectfully disagree.
We are all mad at the Watchtower cult, and what it robbed from our lives. This board is a great place to vent that.
However, using this tragedy as a means to promote our agenda is, I feel, a disservice to those who have died. Let's send money to the Red Cross, encourage people to come together. In the face of such love, the WTS looks ridiculous enough.
There will be plenty of time in the months to come to make JW's lack of love apparent.

yet, faithful jw's view such a horrible tragedy as minor when compared to the horrible destruction that their god will rain down on mankind any day now.. i challenge any faithful jw to explain to me how they will watch the *entire world* come to a similar fiery end, and then *rejoice* at the vindication of god's name.
will you be telling people out in field service how you view such horrible destruction as a good thing?.

The JW mindset is sick. They *hope* to see the entire world end in a similar way. This is what they have been hoping for since the late 1800's. I only regret that more people are not privvy to how totally fucked up these people are. I know because I used to struggle with those same views.
Trust me, the victims and families of this horrible tragedy don't *want* the sympathy of a religion that views their loved ones as *fortunate* because they died before Armageddon, so maybe they will get resurrected.
What do we have to do to bring this sick religion to an end?

Atheism after the Watchtower mindfuck is common.
My problem with Atheism is that, in some ways, it plays along with theism. Let me explain.
The reality that we perceive, the sky, the earth, people around us, the weather, is tangible, by definition. It is real, we can touch it, see it, smell it. When we look into the sky, we do not see a Big Man in the sky. We see clouds, the reflection of blue in the sky, a bird, a plane maybe, but no Big Guy.
That is all that we know for sure.
The question of whether there is a God, angels, Tooth Fairies, honest politicians, etc. is purely a theoretical one, since we know of no way to concretely prove or disprove such things. These are arguments about nothing except our own personally embraced belief systems. They can neither be proven, nor disproven.
So, how can one be a theist or an atheist, since neither can be proven?
What we do know is that there are tremndous forces and powers in our universe, which we are beginning to see as a much more organic place than we used to think. Since we are human, we *project* our image onto many things. We personify emotions, ambitions, etc. Simply, we describe things in human terms, because that is what we have as a frame of reference. To assume that the greates powers in the universe are somehow humanlike is the height of arrogance and ethnocentricity. To say that we project human-like features onto the unknown to put our mind at ease would be much more realistic.

i remember that many jw's were falling for amway scams here in the us.
one of amway's latest scams was quixtar, some internet online mall that is a complete rip-off.
quixtar even used cult-like language, making up new words.
Mighty Auto Parts is Witness owned and operated. And, like most JW owned/operated schemes, including Bethel, the employees are treated like crap and overworked! Let's go New System...not!
I know of many JW Window Washers. The one I know who works on skyscrapers is also a raging alcoholic! So, yes, many sky scrapers are being washed by drunk JW's swinging from a harness.
