Well...It's 2018 and still no ''Armageddon''
by RULES & REGULATIONS in1972 : we started studying with the jehovah's witnesses when my uncle became an elder and put fear into our family that armageddon was close.
1974 : my mom, my brother and i were all baptized after all the convention talks and watchtower magazine articles that 1975 would likely end this system of things.
1999 : being told that the year 2000 was going to mark the 6 thousand years of mans existence and that the 1000 year kingdom in the new paradisewould come in the year 2000.

Hi freddo. The Spanish version is from March 22, 1968. I think that those days the English version was couple month earlier than the Spanish version, but I'm not sure.

I got baptized in 1982 when I was 14. Though I was an 8 years old child in 1975 I remember very well all the expectations for that year. When nothing happened, then the WT came up with the END would come in the year 2000. They didn't say exactly that the end would be in the year 2000 but they said that our work would be completed in the 20th century. After they realized that their words were too compromising, those words were changed in the bound volume.
I have a print out of the Awake 1968 in Spanish where they said that EVERYTHING would be fulfilled in the 20th century. In other words, they were protecting themselves just in case the 1975 thing wouldn't happen. With this declaration, they were gaining 25 years more.

Matthew 24:34 not fulfilled in the first century
by Jules Saturn ini was discussing with an elder the generation teaching and telling him when jesus christ says in matthew 24:34 “truly i say to you that this generation will by no means pass away until all these things happen.” he was referring to the generation from the first century in 33 ad and these events that were to take place took place with the destruction of jerusalem in 70 ad.
now the elder tells me to go back to a few verses to from verses 29-33 which read: .
“immediately after the tribulation of those days, the sun will be darkened,+ and the moon will not give its light, and the stars will fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken.+ 30 then the sign of the son of man will appear in heaven, and all the tribes of the earth will beat themselves in grief,+ and they will see the son of man+ coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.

there are scriptures like in the 1 corinthians chapter 5 that refer to jesus as “our lord jesus”.
the lord is jehovah, why does that scripture in 1 corinthians refer to the lord as jesus?

The traditional rendering in English is:
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
Translations by James Moffatt, Hugh J. Schonfield and Edgar Goodspeed render part of the verse as "...and the Word was divine". Murray J. Harris writes,
[It] is clear that in the translation "the Word was God", the term God is being used to denote his nature or essence, and not his person. But in normal English usage "God" is a proper noun, referring to the person of the Father or corporately to the three persons of the Godhead. Moreover, "the Word was God" suggests that "the Word" and "God" are convertible terms, that the proposition is reciprocating. But the Word is neither the Father nor the Trinity … The rendering cannot stand without explanation."[14]
An Eastern/Greek Orthodox Bible commentary notes:
This second theos could also be translated 'divine' as the construction indicates "a qualitative sense for theos". The Word is not God in the sense that he is the same person as the theosmentioned in 1:1a; he is not God the Father (God absolutely as in common NT usage) or the Trinity. The point being made is that the Logos is of the same uncreated nature or essence as God the Father, with whom he eternally exists. This verse is echoed in the Nicene Creed: "God (qualitative or derivative) from God (personal, the Father), Light from Light, True God from True God… homoousion with the Father."[15]

If there was a resurrection in paradise
by Sour Grapes insomething that bothered me even when i was a watchtower company drone was the thought of dying and being resurrected in paradise.
would the resurrected person really be me or just a copy of me?
if god could recreate one of me, he could also recreate five of me.

If nothing would survive from you after death (your spirit) and you are expecting to be resurrected on Watchtower's Paradise Earth, something similar to this movie could be happening to you.

Let's talk about Blood again....
by stuckinarut2 ini know we have all talked about this topic before, but for some new ones on the forum, or to refresh ourselves, i wanted to start this thread.. the society likes to go on about the sacredness of blood, and how it should not be transfused etc.. they liken it to a symbol of life itself.
something that should be respected and therefore not transfused.. but, what is more important: real life, or a symbol of life?.
an illustration came to mind.. if we give a bunch of flowers to a loved one as a symbol of our love for them, are those flowers more important than the love itself?

Blood was considered sacred in the Bible as long as it meant the death of the animal or person. For the blood of an animal to be sacred and could atone sin it was required that the animal was killed. It was not enough to extract some blood from a bull or a sheep without killing them. If the animal was not killed it had no sacred value for the atonement. Therefore the donated blood used for a transfusion is not sacred because the person who donates it does not sacrifice its life.
