Most referendums are passed with money. We would have to target a state that seemed to have the greatest need for a change and work at it. I am sure that Silent Lambs, or Barb Anderson would have a decent idea where the largest grouping of victims are. This is a very atainable goal for the users on JWN.

Because California has changed the their civil statute of limitations in sexual abuse cases.
So how do petitions come in? In some states there is a referendum process that allows citizens to add statutes or constitutional amendments by voting on these issues during the election. These referendums are put on the ballot by getting enough registered voters to sign the petition.
I might be dreaming big, but if we got the statute of limitations changed in several states it would allow for many new lawsuits to be filed. Imagine how many more cases could be brought against the WTS by victims who right now have no recourse. With enough cases it is very possible to wipe out all the money that the WTS of NY has.
There are 26 states in the US that allow for citizen based initiatives. The requirements can be difficult, but in the end they could be attainable. For instance in Colorado you would need 86k signatures to get an issue on the ballot. Obviously getting that many signatures would cost a bit of money, but this feat is accomplished several times every year.
if i may ask, for those on this site, who still believe in a god in their own way... why do you still believe in a god?.
since every thing in the bible can be shot down with reason, why would you still believe in a god?.
What if they looked outside of the bible for a god an found one? What if it is just a sense they have, but are not linked to a religious tradition?
I dont believe in a personal god, but just throwing some ideas out there.

I do think a no blood policy makes doctors and think about what they are doing and how they will do it. This leads to a safer surgery.
On the other hand, ask people with sickle cell or lukemia how a no blood policy worked for them.....
so my husband and i have a son who will be 2 years old next month and i really wanted him to be socialized more.
ever since we stopped going to meetings, we have been pretty much shunned even though there has never been an "official" reason for it (df, da..).
i am terribly introverted, so it's difficult for me to get out there and talk to people but our son is a people-person and i wanted him to have more peers to be around.
Parks are great, as are indoor play areas. There are moms groups, I know MOPS Mothers of Pre-schoolers is vaugely christian. Even criagslist might have some other moms to hang out with.
Even when I was a good kid there werent enough JWs to hang around...it is torture to be raised a dub, especially if there are no kids in your area.
i hope everyone else in colorado springs is doing ok, and getting to safety if they are inside the evacuated areas!

Apostatethunder, I am not sure if you beleive in evolution or creation, but I can tell you either way circumcision is wrong. Either God made perfect man with a forskin or it evolved that way.

CERVICAL CANCER
The idea that women who have sex with intact men will get cervical cancer is a myth that is hard to put to rest.
This is so untrue that the Academy did not even consider this in their new evaluation. Cervical cancer is sometimes caused by a virus and has nothing to do with the circumcision status of the male.

Recent studies have found that sexually, circumcised men are different from intact men. The glans or tip of the intact penis is more sensitive in nerves that give and receive messages from the brain. A man is more able to 'control' his sexual functioning when he remains intact. Circumcision removes the equivalent of 15 square inches of skin, smooth muscle, glands, vessels, and membranes in the adult male. Studies recently (1999) published in the British Journal of Urology found that intact men are more satisfying to their female lovers than circumcised men.

Boulder would not burn down, but there are plenty of houses in the surrounding hills that might go up. Naropa is in the center of town, so it will be fine. Jeff I didnt know your daughter was a hardcore hippy. Or does she just live by Naropa and not go there?
