  jehovah's witness children will continue to doorknock neighbourhoods with adults who have failed to gain police background checks after a bid to stop the practice failed this week.. gippsland carpenter steven unthank, a former member of the religion who says he was abused as a teen by a church elder, was given approval by victoria's chief magistrate to take the unusual step of launching a private prosecution of the religion over its refusal to require ministers to gain police checks, but says he cannot afford the $350 fee for filing the charges.. mr unthank yesterday said he could not pursue the religion on his own.. he said it was a disgrace that neither victoria police nor the justice department would enforce the working with children act, which requires ministers of religion to gain police checks before working unsupervised with minors.. the religion's corporate arm in australia, the watch tower society, says it does not believe its ministers need to obtain background checks to work with children because they do not typically work unsupervised with children.. ``it's an absolute beatup,'' a spokesman said.

  Hi Some of my story

  fast forward 10 years for some reason i met a witness and went back.

  i was feeling low and started studying with a lovely elderly brother and was baptised.

  two years later i met and married a lady witness was married for 7 years and during this time once again saw lots of hypocrisy and then the child molesters issue.

  I think I was blissfully ignorant of the abuse that many witnesses perpetuate...I got spanked a few times but nothing bad. Tied up and whipped, hot sauce.....that just makes me so sad.

  i wonder if an article in the wt came out telling them to reach out to those that have drifted away.

  i suspect the defection has been great in the last few years, and they're trying to bring some back.

  i've told my story here, how i was able to succesfully fade away along with my family, without being df'd.

  They told Carl Olaf Jonsson to wait on Jehovah when he had questions about 607....and that was back in 1980....have they changed anything in 31 years? You keep waiting on Jah and you will just sit there forever.

  Refuting Franz's Crisis of Conscience

  i'm about halfway through crisis of conscience.

  some pretty extraordinary stuff in there.. wondering, aside from telling people not to read "apostate material", has there been any official denial or refutation of the books contents by the watchtower society, official or otherwise?.

  side note: franz is a wonderful writer, if a bit repetitive in places.

  It is still available on Amazon. I bought a copy through the new/used section becase the seller in the New section was Seller: Cynthia Franz using fulfilment by Amazon.....I thought it was only right to by it from her to help support her after the passing of her husband. It is a Fourth Edition Paperback. The last printing was listed as 2008.

  is there any group that is not crazy(six screens) that puts up legitimate billboards or other advertising about jws.

  any group that deserves donations for really fighting the fine fight?

  i would donate if i knew they were really putting the money toward helping people get out of the borg..

  I love this site, but it is supported by ads, where as some other sites dont have ads because it would not seem right.

  Thats a good point. Getting the word out in spanish is helpful. I just feel like it would be nice as a group to choose a site and raise some money for a specific cause.
