i have noticed that there is a tendency in this group to speak injuriously of glorious ones.
in an attempt to help us be more "balanced" in this regard i invite all to share which governing body members they like.
who is your favourite governing body member?
Definitely Ray Franz! The one with the conscience.

i have smoked cigarettes since i was 12 years old, a pack a day for 16 years.
i have not had a cigarette since friday night and it is monday!
i am craving a smoke but i am not going to have one because i don"t smoke anymore!
Lauren - you're doing great! We're all so proud of you, and I'm still wearing my cheerleader pom-poms. I had to revisit this thread to see how you are doing. (yes, I've been thinking of you)
It's no secret that quitting smoking is a downright hard thing to do, but try to remember this - they say it takes 28 days straight to form a new habit. So start crossing off those days!
I smoked 'briefly' when I was 15yrs old. I just couldn't do it due to my parents. We use to take this 5 hour drive to my grandparents every second weekend and both parents would chain smoke in the car - and refuse to roll the windows down! I would throw up and the dingbats figured I was just motion sick. The funny thing is, I still crave a cigarette now and again, which I find weird, but also is testament to how is affects you physically and psychologically.
I have asthma now, and I don't go near smoke. A single wiff is enough to give me an attack - and I enjoy breathing :) Every day you don't smoke Lauren, your lungs heal. And good stuff on the water thing. Out with the bad, in with the good.
I'm really thinking of you, and will 'check in' to see how you are doing. Congrats to everyone who is giving up the habit. I'm wearing my pom-poms for you too! :D

Mimilly
some questions, if they have been asked before, i have not seen the thread.. how long did you study with a witness, before you entered the jw .
religion, how long before being baptized?.
( i was raised in the "truth" and baptized at 16.).
I was 17 years old. I'd just had a baby, got married, moved to Germany - new language, 5000 miles from my mom, and no friends. They came to the door.
I studied for a year, and was baptized at a German assembly. They asked the questions in both languages - for me. Now wasn't that nice of them? (this was back in the early 1980s... well, baptized in 1984)

we wonder why the terroristic watchtowerkult propaganda.
Tallyman - you used a very good phrase above in one of your posts:
Terroristic Watchtower Propaganda.. or
WTS engages in terrorism
Terrorists within the WTS
I still get that feeling in my chest when I see the title Tallyman, and I have read the thread and I believe it's an excellent one.
nice to meet you too Tallyman :)

in another post, jan h said about this site:.
...there is a very angry crowd there, for obviously and understandable reasons, who will accept no dissent regarding their core dogma: that the wts is responsible for all ills and problems in life.
if what he says is correct, then i am very alarmed at this.
Hell no! The WTS didn't give me mono or chronic pain and fatigue. They didn't injure me at work. They didn't break my marriage up. It isn't their fault that I had a bad childhood or that my brother died.
I make my own decisions, mistakes and choices. I learn and grow from them because I choose to.
I get angry that they get away with hurting others through denying blood, shunning, denying those who are depressed to seek proper help and their huge hypocrisy. But that is a far cry from blaming them for anything and everything.
Life is 10% what happens to you and 90% how you deal with it. (dunno the author of quote)

well, i have been gone for over a month now.
i am surprised that people have been asking about me.
i just want to assure everybody that i am fine.
Hi Gil, we haven't met as yet, but after reading your posts and listening to others worry, I too was worried as I deal with depression as well. I'm very glad that you're feeling better. And a big 'welcome back' to you :)
hugs,
Mimilly

Tallyman - when I first read the thread - or rather the title to the thread last night - my heart came up into my throat. (and I'm Canadian, not American) Given that there are terrorist alerts goin around - IMHO, the title to the thread could've been worded more sensitively.
Just a thought hon,

at about 6:30 this evening my mother passed away.. .
the best mother and the best wife anybody could ever be blessed with.
she was not only my mother, she was my friend.
Honey, for you to find the strength to post such beauty and rememberance shows how very strong you are, and how very sweet your heart. Know that all of us are thinking of you and are here for you.
As Reborn said, "I am sorry for your loss, but happy that you were able to have such a wonderful mother." I don't think he'd mind if I said that too.
hugs n love,
Mimilly
