My nick comes from a book I read....I think it was Bless the Child or something like that (was ages ago). A grandmother, named Mim, went to hell and back to protect her daughter and granddaughter from an evil, satanic society. She succeeded - of course, and I found the character's tenaciousness not dissimilar to mine. 'Mim' was already taken on the board, so I added 'illy', cos I can be silly - yes - really! Hence, Mimilly came about.

The Meaning of Names....?
by SpiceItUp inthere are some that are obvious and then others that just baffle me to no end..... yes i am talking about your user names.... do any of you have stories behind them or are they significant for some reason or are they just a word you made up?.
mine...well its easy.... i got the nickname of spicy back in nov of last year when i dyed my hair this crazy red color and the name of the color was "spiced ginger".
the rest of it is because i love to make things more interesting---- sorta of like adding a bit of spice to the stew (hopefully i come across as that as well .

Lamia - yes hon, this site is very large. A good idea is to take a couple days to read through people's stories as well as 'old' posts. Oh - personally, I love British humour so 'bring it on'!
Welcome and again - hugs!

Been There - Both girls are doing fine. Youngest graduated and then turned 18 in the same week. Beth's bloodwork came back fine. We'll wait for the neurologist's appt. now. Both are working and I'm encouraging Shelene to get back in school this fall to upgrade her sciences. Some of those subjects are 'if you don't use them, you lose them' ones.
Matty - Will I be sent to jail for that? I miss you on MSN chat.
Grits - Regarding pics, some people use their own, others, for confidentiality reasons, do not. Mine is real - April this year. Regarding your idea for a newbie ed page - it's fantastic! Post your idea under the Suggestions section.
AjaxMan - Yer a sweet one Mr. A. (but I'm not better than anyone else - I'm afraid of heights)
For those wondering what hole I fell into - Along with Shelene's graduation prom and ceremony, my cousin got married on Shelene's birthday. During this time I also had four miserable dentist appointments and my mom was visiting. I haven't been well. Seems I have an abcessed molar - upper right last that has been causing me sinus and ear infections. Sigh. I'm presently on anti-biotics again, and will have a root canal soonly. At least I know what's up with my recurrent sinus and ear infections now. Stupid tooth!
Again - Welcome to all the new ones. (ps: feel free to email me, but put jwd.com in the subject line. I delete any email that I don't recognize due to past worm infections.)
Great big hugs - Mimilly

Please don't let anyone's comments send you away. If you find you do not get along with someone, then avoid them like you would do in your neighborhood. Ask for qualification if you don't understand someone's post before retaliating. Behind every post is a person. There is alot of humor and sarcasm here, which help in dealing with the pain and anger at the WTS's affect on our lives. Oh - and if you don't like the topic of a thread - don't read it.
I found this site after being isolated socially for ten years after the Borg. It has become very much a home for me. The information and support here is beyond comprehension. People here care enough to be truthful and incredibly supportive. The people here are treasures, plain and simple.
WELCOME! I look forward to getting to know each of you. I've read some of your posts, but have been unable to get into chat recently due to personal reasons (and it has nothing to do with this great site)

Lets use our freedom of speech!!!!!!!!
by haujobbz ini think its about time we do something about jws organisation,we must take a stand and not hold back and the more of us that do it the better, otherwise there just going to get away with it in time.we must show these so called christians that we are powerful even if we r a minority.im up to making a stand by protest at assemblys.congregations etc.

I love these ideas! Joanna - as always - I love your posts.
The 'day' (or even a short festival of sorts) could include celebration for having survived; a healing part for the abused and general JW haunting; a 'memorial' for families torn apart and individuals lost (due to suicide or blood issue).
I love the ideas for the T-shirts. I still want to get a permit to wear a placard and walk on the sidewalk of the KH just around the corner (on a very busy street, even on Sundays) - while a meeting is going on. It would be simple - JW.com/educate yourself on this group for your own safety. (could also include Freeminds and Silentlambs) This would reach both active JWs AND the general public.
my .002 cents worth,

Way to go Spice! I use to practice yoga daily, and it's slipped away in my daily schedule now. I miss it. I'm interested in the moon ceremony you spoke of. Who would one speak to about attending one?
Enquiring minds want to know

This breaks my heart, and sickens me at the same time. The lack of intelligence noted on the pro-JW board makes me want to stick my arm through the monitor and slap some sense into those people.
I fear this is only part 1 of the suffering for this fine father. I cannot imagine the stress he is feeling, or the pain and anger. If only the daughter could realize this before she dies. The WTS will make a martyr out of her. Lies and gossip will abound.
I hope one day that the mother involved will be ashamed of what she's done. I sincerely hope there is a support system set up for the father. This is a textbook case of how the JooHoos tear families apart.
This is entirely too sad. Heart-breakingly sad.

Hi anac94 - and welcome!
You said you couldn't believe that your father would believe their BS. Hon, his thinking and reasoning abilities are stunted by his blind faith. We all acted like this - to some degree, when we were in. Take heart though - perhaps a grain of truth is getting in his thought process and is making him completely terrified that everything he believes in is a farce. Not all is lost.
We all tend to feel badly about having actually believed the Borg at one time. The positive thing is now we know better.
As for them paning off stupid statements - it's all they CAN do, without incriminating themselves. Go easy on yourself hon. I've been out for ten years and I only found this great board this year. Pull up a pillow and make yourself at home.
