So sorry to hear about this ... I hope your kids are feeling better. I wish them speedy recovery! My children are 13 and 14 now.
One thing that has helped me deal with JW family is to take ownership of my own life, adulthood, pain and happiness. I am being responsible for me and my family. I also know that until God change the circumstances there is little I can do to make them do what I want, what will bring ME satisfaction, or happiness ... get the ego out of the way. I don't agree and don't like their attitudes or beliefs anymore but I also recognize that it is their choice, just like I made my choice. So there is ME and THEM with a line in between. I also one day started thinking about the famous Genealogy Tree and how if I want to change things, turn the tide, break the cycles, curses, stop sacrificing my children and the future generations to the Watchtower god, the curses in my family, I have to branch out and make a conscious, intentional decision to start my own GENEALOGY TREE ... if you think about it ... sometimes gynealogy trees need a good shake up ... so many "trees" are plagued with all kinds of generational curses: all kinds of negative, destructive addictions, personality disorders, poverty, lack of education, guilt, secrets, etc etc etc. That's why I decided that the buck stopped with me and I was going to turn my future generations for the better starting with me. It is my God-given right, to stop being a child, take ownership of my adulthood and life and be fruitful, multiply and GOVERN what God has given me. If you are part of your mother's TREE, every wind that shakes her will also shake you and you won't have any control, you will always be overshadowed by her. So make a mental picture of yourself as a branch but also as a fruit of that tree (your mother), and plant yourself to give birth to a whole new generation that will flourish with the blessings not the curses ... it is in our power ... we only need to be intentional ...

Was Your Life As A Jehovah's Witness HORRIBLE???
by minimus ini can't say my life was ruined because i was a witness.
still, i wish that my upbringing was different.
there's a lot i don't like at all about the witnesses but by the same token, there are some very good people who happen to be jws.. i'm sure some of you hated your life as a witness and i'm sure you have valid reasons..

Was it the doctrine or the control that woke you up?
by Evidently Apostate ineven though i knew some of the doctrines were so convoluted they couldnt be genuine, every prophecy mentioned in the bible was simplistic and direct i still felt it was the best place to raise a family.
i felt like i could ignore the hypocrisy, manipulative and fake personalities and still have true friends and unbreakable family bonds.
even though my concience would bother me i would always try to forgive.

Doctrine, false prophecies, sexual child abuse coverage.

Are you sure leaving is a wise decision ?- Lurkers think twice- Part 2
by mankkeli inin the previous thread of this series, i called lurkers attention to the need of being discreet when contemplating an exit from the jw religion.
i mentioned that the thread was borne as a result of the general observations i made reading old posts here and discussing with many ex-jws and their lives have gradually turned out.
that thread alone was visited more than 2,980 times and graced with 204 contributions.

NOT ...I am not shocked because relatively speaking is WORST as there are only 7 million JWs ... just like the sexual abuse cases in the JW, because there are only 7+/- million IT IS WORST THAN CATHOLICS ...
I work in the oil and gas field, it amazes me how many couples are working on their 30, 40, 50, wedding anniversaries ... that's NOT the example in my 40 years as JW ... it felt like everybody is disposable if you are not following their rules ... it really makes me laugh because it may be cultural (hispanic), but the congregation I was referring to OMG, one of the divorces was because the wives turned lesbians, one even got the butch haircut and were still attending the congregation when I moved to another one (so now that I remember I count one more divorce). I don't know where you are from, if you live in small town or big city like Houston, Los Angeles, Chicago where you can see all sorts of things and can blend or dissappear among hundred of congregations

LOL! My JW mom divorced, my JW sister divorced, 3 elders I know divorced - OMG if I could care enough to post each of their stories, regular pioneers couples divorced I know 2, misc. JWs I know 2, bible students 1 (an elder ran away witht the wife LOL) ALL OF THESE IN A PERIOD OF 10 years in the same congregation here in USA not counting the cases I know in EL Salvador... could it be because they were hispanics???

One thing I am 100% sure ... the blood of those poor JWs commiting suicide is not upon me ...neither the tears and pain of the children and even adults now still in bondage due to sexual abuse coverage within their ranks to covered the Corporation ...
Because I know better I do better and NEVER will associate myself with a corporation that systematically protects itself with the blood, pain and tears of fragile, silent lambs.
Also, "wise" by whose standards? Not GOD's.
Biblically speaking, if you follow Christianity (not a cult), after learning the truth about the WTC true leaving is the ONLY THING TO DO if you are a follower of Jesus Christ. I don't care if your excuse is wives, children, spouses, families, whatever ... Jesus was clear and at some point you have to make up your mind ... cold or hot ...
And notice ... you are to leave or give up family and friends because of Jesus, the Gospel ... Mark 10:29 --

Gosh, that's the "discipline" I got while growing up JW... even when I try to forget I have scars in my body that reminds me of it almost everyday. It is awful to receive that kind of violence in the home, you have no one to come to your rescue - the last time I got spanked by my father I was almost 22 ... it was the worst because since I was a grown up, it was very diminishing, it could have been the perfect opportunity to spit venon at him and fight back ...
This reminds me a few months ago, my fiance was playing with me and he said, come little girl I will give you a spanking and OMG it was like if I was a child again, like if dimensions were fighting with my present and for a split of a second I was afraid of him, and I cover my face and yelled NO, he kept on playing he didn't understand what I was going through ... flashback ...

Attorney: 'Fear Of Jehovah Witness Family Drove Mom To Drown Baby' -- (CBS)
by Spittn4Cash insanta ana (cbs) a young fullerton mom is headed to prison on friday for drowning her newborn baby in a toilet.. knx 1070s mike landa reports yanira valderrama, 21, was sentenced to five years in prison after pleading guilty to charges of child abuse and inflicting great bodily injury.. .
valderrama was reportedly embarrassed by her pregnancy and attempted to conceal it from her jehovah witness family, a deputy public defender said.. orange county prosecutor steve mcgreevy said valderramas baby boy drowned when she gave birth into a bathroom toilet on sept. 4, 2009.. there was a lot of bleeding and shock, and she unfortunately didnt act well and left the baby underwater for an extended period of time so that the baby could never get oxygen, said mcgreevy.. she eventually removed the baby from the toilet, wrapped his lifeless body, and put the baby in a wastebasket in her bedroom, mcgreevy said.. later that night, the defendants mother saw blood in the bathroom, found the discarded placenta and called police, who found the newborn in the trash can.. valderrama was taken to a hospital, where doctors confirmed she had just given birth, according to prosecutors.. .

Exactly ... happens in every circle, rich and poor families, all religions BUT again "JW's are the ones who brag about their superior morals and family arrangement" ... I have been in congregations were single girls got pregnant, then they "repented" and were reinstated and welcomed by the congregation ... my mom loves to point out that they got DF'd not like others "christians" that don't shun people like JWs. Hello! The fact is that they GOT PREGNANT WHILE BEING JWs IN GOOD STANDING ... same with all the ADULTERERS< DRUNKARDS<FORNICATORS<THIEVES< they did all these things WHILE BEING JWs IN GOOD STANDING ... I don't care what they do after the fact, what it stands is that they committed a "sin" while being a JW in good standing .. or at least pretending to be one ...
