QUESTION: will the WTS ever fall? if so, how?

maybe some of you who have been out for many years can answer this.. do you think that the flow of people leaving the borg has been increasing?

and do you think that we will ever live to see their complete downfall?

if you do think this is a likely scenario, how do you see it unfolding?.

Hi Bad Willie,

Religions are normally quite resilient to total disintegration. There are too many built in fail-safe systems they can fall back on and blame for scandals can easily be put off as “human imperfection”, a “test” or blame it on the apostates. The screw-ups with prophetic disconfirmations is a bit more troublesome but the WTS has shed these off like water on a duck. We have seen gross scandals in the past that ranged from economic fraud on a large scale (i.e. India) to homosexual scandals at Bethel. It is all the water under the bridge now…the great transnational corporation keeps plugging along.

The growth of Jehovah’s Witnesses is cyclic. They have been in a downward cycle for several years but are now heading up the cycle (roughly the cycle matches the sunspot cycle as per some other religions) but will go down in the opposite direction in due time.

Things that will have a more dramatic effect on their growth in my personal opinion won’t be the standard set of problems they have faced in the past, but new problems. Problems they are ill equipped to handle. The Internet is one example of this but even greater future problems await them. One example of the new problems is the increasing density of information. This doesn’t sound much like a problem but consider this…the WTS is its own worst enemy. Their own publications can stumble someone more than any scandal can, but most people are not aware of all this and it takes a skilled person now to go and find all the sources, even with the Internet. In some years, radical new changes in information technology, including the ability to compress entire encyclopedic volumes of information in a text format similar to this: 4983f8434h38d04 (using new Godelian prime factorization mathematics) will enable any Watchtower “opposer” to instantly transfer everything the WTS has ever printed to anyone, and have it indexed so the interested person can immediately find any reference to the WTS hall of shame.

What will be even more damning for them will be “KNOWBOTS” which are now only in their early evolutionary stages, but these will be the next “Killer Application” that will shake the computer world and they are artificial intelligence agents that we can speak to plainly by voice and they will be able to quickly answer nearly any question we care to ask them. Indeed they will eventually become indispensable to the First World because most of us won’t be able to understand the rapid technological changes happening all around us. They will be our friends who are the learned college professor and when we ask them about the validity of Jehovah’s Witnesses having the truth…we are going to hear a lot of laughing.

How important is it to love someone in your life?

how important is it to have someone special in your life?.

when i was a regular pioneer, i was constantly hearing that i should put off getting involved with any romantic relationships because i would want to spend all my time with my new love, and i would give up serving as a pioneer.. after i left the borgs cuckoos nest, i still had to put off getting romantically involved in long-term relationships because of wanting to be a full time college student.

later in life, i put off involvement again because of career options.

After I left the Borg’s cuckoo’s nest, I still had to put off getting romantically involved in long-term relationships because of wanting to be a full time college student. Later in life, I put off involvement again because of career options. It seems you are always faced with big choices and compromises in your life goals to make time for a good relationship.

Have any of you experienced the same problem? How do you tell when it is intellectually worth it to drop your other life goals and go full speed ahead and damn the torpedoes or is it just an emotional decision based on how lonely you feel?

Sheesh you guys! You must have never heard about the old JW joke of the millionare Witness who was on his death bed and who wanted to teach the elders in his congregation the truth about how the love of money is the root of all evil, so a week before he died he gave each of three elders $100,000 in cash but told them they could have the money only so long as he was alive.

During his funeral, each of the three elders threw in a large envelope just before his casket was sealed and buried. They later got together and were talking about how great this brother was but suddenly one of the elders started crying and said to the other elders that he had only given back $80,000 in the envelope because he had lost $20,000 at the casino. Saddened by this heart wrenching confession, another elder pleaded, please forgive me brothers for I have sinned too. I only gave back $50,000 as I needed a new service car, I had to pay my kids medical bills, and my wife wanted to fix up the house. The presiding overseer just shook his head at both of these elders and said, "I'm really shocked at you brothers. I threw in a check for the entire $100,000."

Well, inspired by this fine example...I would take the 10 million but make damn sure that someone else accidently on purpose discovered the dirt and let them get their payoff and keep going until the Borg was bankrupt.

Venice, Xena, Cathy, Golddustwoman, Nelly, Sky, Mango, Harmony, Noidea, Scully, Chimpy, Wendy, MrMoe, Ana, Nancy, Lilacs, WonderWoman, Beepers, and all the other wonderful ladies that I have strictly intellectual conversations with in the chatroom. They are all very sweet but they make your fingers stick to the keyboard.

The only two strings of which are of which you can’t use the money for yourself and you can’t use the money for putting up ex-JW sites on the Internet.

How would you use the money? Would you take the settlement for your silence? You might be able to do a lot of good with the money.

The Debate: Do JW's Need Respect?

do we acknowledge that they have done some things right and (shudder) even good?

Just where is this Judge at tonight? I bet she ran off with the balif and they are doing more than washing her car!

Now that I got that off my mind, it is time to make a few comments on the Defense's rebutalls.

I don't recognize the Bible as any kind of authority in these matters. One can use the Bible to show precedence for any arguement and that is a totally different subject.
For example: Look at the example of Bear that killed 40 children when they called a "prophet of god" an old bald head.

Respectfully Mr. Defense, I don't consider it an authority either but there are a great many ex-JW's in this court of the common ex-dub who do subscribe to these beliefs and use them as a basis for their behavior, although admitedly somewhat differently than the WTS does.

These scriptures therefor justify to them at least the ability to speak confrontationally, and even right in someone's face about the Evil Empire without the least bit of guilt feelings.

I wish the judge would stop fooling around and come back here and play her role! Grrrr

Hey Celtic...well that sounds cool. But first, here is a little story that just popped in my organ of thought and neural coordination...

Once upon a time…

There was a ordinary man, standing on an ordinary street, waiting for an ordinary bus, to get to his ordinary job. Somewhere in this story along comes a Jehovah’s Witness. The Jehovah’s Witness says to the ordinary man “I know something that will make you special. It will change your whole life. You will be one of the most important people on earth.”

Well the ordinary man thought about this a moment, and then he asked the Jehovah’s Witness well what do I need to do to have this special life? The Jehovah’s Witness says to the ordinary man, “any moment now there is going to be a Watchtower Tiger come along here and when it does, all you need to do is grab on to it’s tail and it will give you the ride of your life.”

As soon as he spoke these words, along came the Watchtower Tiger and the ordinary man leapt as it went by, grabbing on to its tail and pulling the ordinary man out of his ordinary life.

For awhile, the former ordinary man was enjoying this thrilling ride but every once in awhile, the Tiger would turn on him and scratch him or bite him. Still, the former ordinary man was afraid to let go now of the Tiger’s tail but one day he happened to rush by an apostate standing on the street.

The apostate tells him that he is in a dangerous situation and that before long, the Watchtower Tiger is going to turn on him and eat him up like a bunch of chopped liver. Now the former ordinary man is thinking about this but explains he is afraid to let go because if he does, the Watchtower Tiger will eat him.

The apostate yells back, here take this book and read it but just as the man grabs the book and begins to read it, his grip on the tiger’s tail slips and the tiger turns on him and eats him up.

Damn…it doesn’t have a happy ending does it?

The Debate: Do JW's Need Respect?

It should be noted that as the entity of Jehovah’s Witnesses is a transnational Corporation and beyond the laws of any one country, that there may be parallels we can draw upon in the social and corporate world to determine the amount of respect due to an organization when something goes terribly wrong.

In 1984, in Bhopal, India such a transnational corporation stunned and shocked the world by creating the world’s worst industrial accident. The Bhopal disaster killed more than 2,000 people and seriously injured and estimated 200,000, many of whom suffered permanent blindness and damage to their respiratory systems. The disaster occurred when a pesticide plant owned by Union Carbide released methyl isocyanate gas, creating a vast fog of death. Even more horrifying than the number of dead, was the appalling nature of their dying—crowds of men, women and children running rapidly into the dark, twitching and writhing like the insects for who the poison was intended.

Who was responsible for this tragedy? Union Carbide tried to blame it all on sabotage by an employee who was pissed at the company. Even if this version of events was true, of course, it in no way mitigates the companies responsibility for the disaster. A whole cascade of failed safety measures went into the Bhopal tragedy. For example a refrigeration unit that was supposed to prevent such a disaster was shut down and had been inactive for five months. Other fail-safe devices were out of commission. The plant was understaffed. There was no alarm system to detect toxic releases inside the plant. There was no alarm system for the outside community.

In the wake of such disasters, it is usually easy to find embarrassing examples of experts who predicted beforehand that such an event could ever take place.

The question I submit to all those in this Court of Opinion is: Is the WTS another Bhopal disaster waiting to happen? I say YES, and it has been an ongoing disaster!

Far more than 2,000 people have lost their lives because of the teachings of the WTS through loss of life from the blood policy, from child abuse, from persecution, and from suicides. None of these were pleasant and peaceful deaths either. They were violent and soul wrenching, just like in India.

Countless thousands more have been injured because of the WTS and its policies. Just because there are not physical scars, it doesn’t mean there are not scars. Think of all the broken marriages and families resulted from shunning. Think of the horrific family crises that are common in dubs lives. Think of how you personally feel about your own self-image and how this religion did its best to make you feel insignificant, unworthy, not good enough, a constant sinner and worse. Think about your fear of death from a vengeful and murdering God the Witnesses claim will fix things by murdering people like you.

The Watchtower’s fail-safe mechanism is not in place. The evidence is abundant that they prefer dogma to human life and human dignity. Such people who are blind devotees of a dangerous cult mind virus collectively have no idea where they are heading and the future damage they will do. A brief taste of this damage was seen in the years after 1975 come and went and mental institutions around the world were filling up with severely depressed Witnesses, Witnesses who had nervous breakdowns, and Witnesses who had more serious mental problems. If you take the time to look through the links the prosecution has provided you might be shocked to stumble across the comments of some staff workers of mental hospitals in those years…they called them Watchtower Houses instead of a mental institution.

I say the ONLY alarm system to the outside world about the dangerous and murderous trail of the WTS is people like you and me, the one’s who the WTS calls “opposers” or apostates. WE are the experts that have seen the danger within. We know first hand the effects this transnational corporation has on affecting our own lives.

For us to show respect to such an life-negative organization that is still actively and potentially dangerous to millions of lives, is like the wounded survivors of the Union Carbide massacre to return to their homes and tell their friends, family and neighbors that we are so grateful to have this Pesticide plant in our neighborhood. It is good for the community. It provides jobs, it gives people meaning in their lives, and it is doing a good public service.

DO YOU THINK THIS IS WHAT THEY WOULD BE SAYING? I don’t! I think they would be doing everything in their power to get rid of this death machine. They wouldn’t be worried about showing respect to the company. It doesn’t deserve respect it was a killer.

Thus, if Jehovah’s Witnesses were just your standard run-of-the-mill-established religion, we wouldn’t be having this discussion. We wouldn’t be talking about lives getting ruined and murdering members by doctrine. We wouldn’t be debating giving them respect because in most cases your typical churches are not as deleterious as this totalizing belief system. This religion that glorifies the idea of global death as the solution to our collective problems is not something that any of us can respect. It is life negative and we need to sound the alarm.
