Commander Teejay...please report to the bridge!
Dude, this was a cool post. I remember this episode as well and caught the moral of the story as well. It is an uphill fight for a lot of us recovering from our assimilation in the Borg because our self esteem was shot to hell and well you know the drill. We can't undo our past but we can learn from it and accept ourselves, faults and all.
After I read your post, I was thinking of another Star Trek movie based on the original series where Spock's brother is playing the wannabe Messiah and he wants to cure Captain Kirk of his pain. Kirk declines his offer because he recognized that pain was a part of him, made him who he was and he used it to get where he was now. He needed that pain! Well, after thinking about that way back when this movie came out, I recognized that I needed to make my own pain work for me instead of trying to pretend it wasn't there or keep locking it up in a mental closet. Hey, when you expend all your energy locking up your pain and anger you don't have any energy left for doing anything but just existing. I don't want to be in that fucking boat again.
So, I'm making my anger and pain work for me. I'm hoping the wisdom of Star Trek pays off.
Kind Regards,
Skipper
