let's assume that there are about 9,000,000 armageddon survivors (baptised jw's and their children), after just 30 years every survivor will be sexually mature and with increased vigour and health.. .

chemical contraception, condoms, i.u.d's etc will all be long gone so any married couple with a normal sex-drive will be producing children at an average rate of about 1 per year.. .

world population at the beginning of the 20th century was less than 1.5 billion.

Montag...you have a lot of company. Many ex-dubs are so repressed sexually that it is like driving a Porche 10 mph over speed bumps. Some jump to the opposite extreme when they leave and chase the opposite sex and have sex until they have made up for their lost time, others repress their sexual needs even more. Perhaps the smarter approach would be to get therapy to both work out the emotional damage done by the Borg and to learn how to safely and sanely deal with your natural sexual instincts.

Sex is an important part of your life...too bad it didn't come packaged like chewing gum.

way back when in my pioneering days, when we were out in service we would often talk about what to do when the great tribulation came along.

Yeah Moxy...hate to admit it now but it was for real. Of course I was under the influence at the time:-)

Oh, and the idea behind it was that if we got locked in a room, we could use the socks to blow the doors. LOL!

What was the silliest thing you ever did to prepare for Armageddon?

Way back when in my pioneering days, when we were out in service we would often talk about what to do when the Great Tribulation came along. One of my pioneering buddies told me that he was so sure the GT was around the corner that he went and buried some food for the bro’s and sis’ to eat when we fled to the hills. Another pioneering buddy told me that he was having his wife practice torturing him (hey I thought it was illegal for dubs to do BDSM?) so he could withstand persecution when he got arrested and they wanted to know who all the members of the congregation were.

One day, these guys asked me what my contribution was going to be and a few weeks later I had my answer. I invented exploding socks. Yes, like KABOOM! Well, when I told them that I did this, they laughed and didn’t believe me. I suggested to my pioneer bud that we go to his house and I would take my socks off (it was summer then) and I would throw them in an old trash barrel he burned his trash in that was located in his back yard. When we all got there, he changed his mind and was worried about cleaning up a mess in his backyard so he suggested that we go to my Cousins house a few blocks away. So, we drove over there (counting time of course) and I told my cuz what I had in mind he thought it was a big joke and told me to just use his fireplace as he had a unbreakable glass covering over it.

Now, here is the scene, there are four of us standing around in the living room and I take my socks off and put them in the fireplace and light a piece of newspaper nearby. We are all standing in front when the socks go off. They worked much better than I expected. Everything in the fireplace was shot out in the living room, and all of us were covered from head to toe with soot and the whole house filled with smoke. Luckily, none of us was injured but the house was a mess. The neighbors called the fire department, which came a few minutes later. LOL! I’m surprised I didn’t get public reproof for that one. I was banned forever from my Cousins house and the elders told me to never again play around with my laundry. Hahaha

I wanna be the brother who enjoys freaking people out with weird stuff and practical jokes. I love to turn hot coffee into instant solid jello by adding a little bit of chemicals or dropping dry ice into the K.H. toilet and letting it "boil" the water in the bowl, making the next guy that comes in wonder what the hell I've been eating. Oh, I would love to play with the sound system and make it pick up an AC DC tune in the middle of the Watchtower study or tune it for CB trucker talk.

Of course, I love coming to the hall in really cool disguises (one of my hobbies) and totally blow people away when they find out who I am.

Can I also paint contact explosive on the bottom of the light switches and put ants in the contribution box?

Hi Nicolaou,

Anyway you look at math and logic and compare them with the fantasy of living on a paradise earth, it comes up pretty ugly. To start with, the lifestyle that people enjoy here in the USA would certainly be a thing of the past for several reasons. To start, we live in a global culture that requires a massive amount of synergistic activity to sustain. Take energy for example, in America, we are an oil based economy. You need oil products to run cars, heat your homes, and make industry work. To operate and refine the oil supplies of just the USA alone, would take years of college education for thousands of dubs to learn the various job functions...and who the hell is going to teach them...other janitors? Even if you got past this hurdle, how are you going to transport it on a highway system that would undoubtedly be severely damaged? You can just keep going deeper and deeper into the levels of complexity and you soon realize that what the new order would be is nothing less than a new dark ages. The fancy houses the dubs were picking out to live in would soon be less appealling because of having to ride their bicycles or a horse in the winter time. I can also just imagine what dubs would do in a nuclear power plant...make Homer Simpson look like a brain surgeon.

Next, take the mathematics of what you are suggesting and do some extrapolation. Let's pretend that our hypothetical end of the world survivors are each allowed to have 2 children in their reproductive lifespan. After all this is fair isn't it because so many gave up having kids to pioneer before the end never came. Anyway, what would the damage be as a result using your 9,000,000 figure? Well I ran it through a spreadsheet for only 500 years and came up with this number:

multiply 1207959507 by 1,000,000 or this roughly over 1000 trillion people. Still going to fit em' all in the state of Texas? LOL! It would be impossible by even advanced technology (something that Witnesses shun as much as apostates) to house, feed, and keep alive that many people. It would be much worse than the most populated parts of India. It would be a hell on Earth?

I don't even wanna visit.

Sometimes there is no need to answer a post when someone has already done a fine job of showing their view, ridiculous or not. In the example you mentioned, I thought any thinking person could easily judge the merits of your posting without my contributing any further arguement. In simple terms, I felt your response was laughable.

Now, if the subject matter was say more controversial and debatable, then, if I felt like it, I would make a response. Typically, I don't have time to waste on Trolls, obessive-compulsive types, angry people, or mind deadened JW's or fanatics. You can always be assured though that I recognize these disfunctional types and feel pity for the damage done by their various exposure to religious mind viruses, especially the Christian type.

You may not respect me, that is certainly you choice but I have no respect for the mental sickness that pretends to offer salvation. I normally don't take disrespect to the personal level because I recognize that people have just contracted a deleterious disease, that of religion, and anything I can do to help people see how badly they have been infected is cool.

So, to sum things up, in the future if you want some debate, do a better job with your logic and find a topic worthy of debating. If you don't like news or anything negative about religion, I would simply suggest you ignore my posts from now on.

Finally, if you really want to make my day, send me some hate mail. I've wanted to make a collection of it and you would be the first one in my collection.

Survey of Religion in America

i thought the information in a recent study (graduate center survey of religion in america) might be of interest to some who frequent this board.

52% percent of adults in america are protestant, 24.5% are catholic, and 14.1% adhere to no religion, according to the latest american religious identification survey, 2001 just released by the graduate center of the city university of new york.

those giving their religion as jewish are 1.3% and those as muslim or islamic are 0.5%.. from 1990 - 2001:.

Thanks for posting this Kinsman. I gussed from my own personal experience that there were more women than men in the Witnesses and this is the first offical confirmation I've seen of that.

I wonder if the number of women in the Borg is related to the integration of families and making it extremely painful to leave, whereas males choose to leave based on minimizing family influences?

I also wonder if this trend will continue in the future, leaving the congregations with an even higher percentage of women to men?
