Acts 15:29 & Revelation 2:14,20
by allyouneedislove ini have heard the assertion that acts 15:29 saying: "keep abstaining from things sacrificed to idols and from blood" was a decree set forth as a recommendation to keep christian gentiles from stumbing christian jews.
the same assertion says that 1 corinthians 8 makes it clear that it is a conscience matter to "keep abstaining from things sacrificed to idols".
however, revelation 2:14,20 seems to show that eating things sacrificed to idols is much more serious of a grievance.. .

I suppose in both instances it warns christians gentiles/jews alike to stayaway from idol practices, like festivals and offerings, etc.
2Co 6:15 And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel?
1Co 8:10 For if any man see thee which hast knowledge sit at meat in the idol's temple, shall not the conscience of him which is weak be emboldened to eat those things which are offered to idols;
1Co 8:11 And through thy knowledge shall the weak brother perish, for whom Christ died?
1Co 8:12 But when ye sin so against the brethren, and wound their weak conscience, ye sin against Christ.
1Co 8:13 Wherefore, if meat make my brother to offend, I will eat no flesh while the world standeth, lest I make my brother to offend.I guess these verses are quite self explanatory.

Did Judas help "save the world" by betraying Jesus????
by Witness 007 inimagine if he changed his mind and jesus got angry and said: "no......i need you to do this!!!
" {judas} "no, i can't .......i changed my mind!!!
" {throws money away} .

Jesus knew Peter would deny him trice, did that mean peter should hang himself ? I would not argue about Judas though, It was just obvious that the pharisees would have had Jesus killed either way.
If there was one thing Judas did wrong, then its for killing himslef, i bet he would have been saved had he repented.

I think some people are missing the point here, theres only one choice to make, either you beive in God, Jesus Christ and the bible or you dont believe in God at all. There is nothing like believing in Jesus and not the bible.
The bible talks about God hating people who are neither cold not hot, i know most people find it hard to believe a majority of things the bible talks about but thats the only way to being a christian . The bible stresses on things like HOPE and FAITH, and it references the lives of people like Abraham,Noah and so forth who had not seen but yet believed. I bet at must have been hard for them. Imagine Abraham had to sacrifice his only begotten son in his test of faith, Noah had to go through the trouble of builiding an ark so great in size, and many other folks in the bible.
There was a time i was on the fence, i doubted some part of the bible and beleived what seemed plausible to me, but all this changed after i decided i had to choose a side. I now believe the bible word for word, and the HOPE and FAITH i have in God keeps me going. U cant imagine what is there to discover if you seek God earnestly.
Hope this helps.

Heaven and Hell : Life after death
by bioflex ini am starting this topic to discuss the title.
i know many people on this forums dont believe in the idea of god , and even jw's reject the idea of a fiery hell even though the bible clearly states is.. this video contain testimonies osome people who even considered themselves as atheists until the point of practical death.. i just want to emphasize what one person said in the video at the point of death - " what if god is real, and what if all that which was being said about god was true" .
hope this helps whoever it may.. and one more thing, no matter what you do or how you live your life, just know that even at the point of death, jesus christ is able to save.

@Vanderhoven7: before i go any further i would like you to explain your understanding of the punishment?
i would also like you to explain the event about Lazarus and the rich man Jesus spoke of.
Revelation 14:9-11, Mark 9 : 46,
Revelation 20: 10 - 15 -> it talks about the lake of fire where satan is cast, and his torment would be for ever, also it talks about other people being cast into that same lake of fire where the devil is.
@ProdigalSon: except that it is not the dead body which is judged. Its the spirit.
@Tec: last i checked souls died too no? destruction sure implies an end to something but what about damnation, condemnation (a better translation VanderHoven would prefer) ? something can be condemned without being destroyed right?

@Vanderhoven7: The pharisees are not said to have believed in eternal torment. If we look at some of the things Jesus said about them. Like "You would recieve greater damnation" - talking about pharisees
and in Matthew 23: 15 - Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you compass sea and the dry land to make one proselyte, and when he is made, you make him twofold more the child of hell than yourselves.
would it makes sense if hell there was replaced with grave?
i took this from the NWT, since you seem to like that translation
“Woe to YOU , scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! because YOU traverse sea and dry land to make one proselyte, and when he becomes one YOU make him a subject for Ge·hen´na twice as much so as yourselves.
again if Gehena was just the grave, would that passage have made sense? cos every human being dies no matter if he was righteous, a pharisee or even an unsaved person.

@Vanderhoven7 :Sorry, but believing in judgment and punishment of the wicked, personal accountability and that the spirits of the dead can be summoned to consciousness does not equate with eternal torment as the punishment of human sin
you are kidding me right? In what form do you think the dead are going to be judged? in human or spirit form? and what do you think the punishment would be?
Re: Where did the Pharisees derive their belief in eternal torment?
show me where the pharasees spoke of a fiery hell or eternal torment in the bible? Wasnt is Jesus's own saying.
