  Were you allowed to play sports?

  i was never allowed to play sports, because it would be too much association with worldly people.

  no skating, dance class, racquet ball, softball, nothing.

  in my kingdom hall, only the "spiritually weak" played sports.

  Not at first...I was told by some of the cheerleaders that I should try out, that I would make a good cheerleader, which did wonders for my self-esteem, but was of course, not allowed to do.

  My junior year I had severe depression, was questioning the "truth," and my parents thought an extracurricular activity would keep me from brooding in my room after school. Golf was approved, as there were no night games, and I wouldn't miss any meetings. My sister, another girl (a LDS) and I made up the first high school girls team. We called ourselves the Piddle Sisters--Wormburner Piddle, Elephant'sAss Piddle (you know, "it's high and it stinks") and Divot-Thrower Piddle. We had a blast. I got an award at the sport's banquet for most improved--from 100 strokes for 9 holes down to 70!

  My 13 yr old daughter was listening to 50 Cent's "Candy Shop" where he says that in the lyrics...I told her he was talking about M&Ms and she thought I meant Eminem! (Guess you had to be there...)

  Blog in honour of my Stepmom

  myrna, my beloved stepmom, was diagnosed with breast cancer early this year.

  in typical fashion, she let us all know what was happening in her life, informed herself of the options, and calmly determined her course of treatment.

  it was a very small lump, and it looks like all of it was removed.

  When I was 10, the bookstudy was in our house. After it was over one night, I was sent to my room while all the adults had a hushed meeting about Bro R, a really old PO who was saying racist and sexist remarks from the platform...they discussed the matter and decided to give him an ultimatum--he step "aside" (never "down," because that would imply that the elders were "above" the r & f!) or they report him to the society. He was very disgruntled and self-righteous, but chose to step aside, and died shortly thereafter.

  when i was a missionary we had had a full day of door knocking and we were bored out of our skulls.we decided that since we'd been told by quite a few born agains that we were representatives of satan that.... we'd pull a couple of thorns off a rose bush and spend the next hour tracting with them stuck to our heads like little mini horns.

  I just finished "He's Just Not That Into You" or whatever it's called...I finished it in two hours, and LMAO. Very entertaining. That was right after I finished "Mystic River." Haven't seen the movie, now I gotta compare. Next I picked up a true crime book because there was nothing else around, and I am only slightly committed to finishing it. I am also reading, "Small Business Management: An Entreprenuerial Emphasis" for my course at the community college. Not nearly as enjoyable.
