Only JW's Honest - Perpetuating the Stereotype
by NeonMadman in.
the back cover of the august 15 watchtower offers another example of mind control, reinforcing the concept that there are no honest people except for jehovah's witnesses, and that there is no crime within the organization ("if all people were jehovah's witnesses, who would commit crimes?"):.
don't it make you wanna hurl?

I'm sure we all know exactly how honest many JWs are...from personal experience. My dad the elder lied for 20+ years about sexually abusing me. Good example of honesty.

They are also much better at acting than Keanu Reeves.
NO! You lie! ;) LOL! He's got to be one of the worst actors I've ever seen in big budget films. (The sort of stuff you see on MST3K doesn't count.) :)

Cruel Irony and Jurisdiction
by Grunt inalthough it has probably been discussed.
i find the latest km on disfellowshipping to be a particularly annoying pack of half-truths.
first of all, its title "display christian loyalty when a relative is disfellowshipped" says it is about relatives who are disfellowshipped and then in the first paragraph it says it applies "equally to those who are disfellowshipped and those who disassociate themselves.".

My family sure paid attention to it. They didn't even bother to tell me that my grandmother had a second stroke and had to go to hospital again. Gee, I would have thought that fell in the lines of fairly important.
Good points, Grunt. Never thought of it that way before.

JEHOVAH'S WITNESSES CAN'T GO TO THE RACES!
by minimus inthe wt.
of august 15, 2002 asks:"the violent and deadly gladatorial events of the roman empire have been compared to what modern spectator sports?
a recent exibit in the colosseum in rome, italy, suggested modern parallels by including video clips of bullfighting, professional boxing, auto and motorcycle races, and spectator fights at other modern sports events.early christians took to heart that jehovah does not love violence or violent ones, and neither should christians today.

Oh that's bloody ridiculous! I can understand the boxing stuff, coz I personally think it's gross watching two people beat each other to a pulp. Of course, I watch martial arts films, but that's not real.
But auto and motorcycle races?! Please!
And does this mean I can't watch the opening scene of City Slickers?

WobbleHead
by bay64me ini'd like to dedicate this post to a wobble-headed 'brother' that i once shared congregations with.. he, (being a ministerial servant son of an elder,) age=approx 28,obviously had a magnitude of social deficiencies, most of which were tolerable as, we could choose when we were in his immediate company.. his main problem was his short fuse when around children as he seemed to deem it necessary to pin them up against a wall and slap them across the face while out on field service!
(which is pretty bad in itself.
}......but that's a story for another time!.

I had the one who stalked me and threatened to rape and kill me. He did this for years, and the elders said to ignore him because he had mental problems. (Um, he was autistic.) He was stable enough to get baptised, but not stable enough to be put in his place? I filed a police report (against the elders' recommendations) when he got a job across the street from where I worked.

Yeah, they used to go to the universities around where I lived. I also saw they had a booth at Cleveland Hopkins airport...that was weird.

WBTS Starts Filipino Disinformation Campaign
by ErieGuy inhere is a jw-authored philippines newspaper article which, as usual, is full of lies and half-truths intended to deceive the filipino general public.
i guess that the wbts assumes that they can get away with this crap in the philippines.
maybe some of us reasonably familiar with the wbts's history, doctrine, political activity (lobbying us congress to help with foreign governments, un affiliation), etc.

Someone needs to teach him proper grammar before he starts writing newspaper articles.

Sent my DA letters out
by Cicatrix infinally got up the nerve to send my da letters out yesterday.i sent them in lovely scarlet envelopes(in homage to nathaniel hawthorne's "the scarlet letter")with american flag stamps hehe.i wrote the letters on my hound dog stationary.thought it was fitting, having heard the old "dog returning to its vomit" speech a few gazillion times(hey, my lab and dal eat lots of vomit and they love horse manure-vet says they're the healthiest doggies around:)).. then i went out and bought a little christmas tree and some teeny tiny ornaments.yeah, i know, i'm rushing it a bit.but i really really missed celebrating christmas, and i didn't even admit that to myself until just recently.my kids were absolutely thrilled!
!this year will be their first everything.i'm going to buy them all "my first christmas" ornaments.. but first we have halloween and a few birthdays to do.my sons already got their first invitations to a birthday party.
my kids want me to go trick-or-treating with them.maybe i'll dress up as cruella deville and take my dalmatian puppy, sidhe, with me.. my,my, i'm running on and on like a kid at christmas...and halloween...and ..... it's good to be free.i don't care what the org boogeymen try now.i've said my piece to them, now i'm done with them.i don't have to sneak around and worry about whose seeing me do this or that.i'm the one who has chosen to leave-and you bet your boots i will hold certain ones to their own rules about not speaking to me lol.in this case, what comes around, goes around.i'm just glad to be off the org carousel.i'm a little dizzy yet, but still standing.. hehe-i'm getting punchy.i'm going to go to bed and sleep in on a sunday morning!!!

I experienced my first Christmas last year. I can't really say I completely celebrated it. I still have trouble with guilt feelings. I'm not sure how long it will take me to get over it, but I still can't say "merry Xmas" or "happy birthday."

Previously you could not fill out a monthly field service report for less than one hour. Anything less than that should be carried forward to the next month.
Now, things have changed. Some of the elderly ones and disabled ones in the congregation are now authorised to report 15, 30, or 45 minutes in a month. Although this was only supposed to be open to specific members of the congregation, everyone I know is now reporting in 15 minute increments. I no longer carry forward parts of an hour. So if I do 9 1/2, that's what I put down. Not 9, and carry forward 1/2 hour. It's not what was asked, but we haven't been told off about it yet.
Wow...they must really be desperate.
