The fact that they are more dangerous than Iraq proves to me that Shrub, er, Bush, always intended to go into Iraq no matter what.

I think Bush is pushing them, though. All of a sudden he starts sending more troops there; of course they're going to respond. It's what they do. Calling them part of an "axis of evil" didn't do anyone any favours either.

Don't get me wrong. I'm not saying that they're not dangerous. But Bush is just as dangerous.

Besides, he's being stupid. Anyone who's worth their salt knows it's impossible to fight a war on 2 fronts and win. Hitler learned that the hard way. Looks like Bush is going to have to learn the hard way as well, at the cost of many soldiers' lives.

Do You Feel Better Since You Stopped Meetings?

so many witnesses have been ill. i'm not talking about the flu or a cold, either.

many witnesses suffered from ailments that were not necessarily common to most people.

i know of jw's that had to literally run out of the meetings every week because they said they were allergic to perfumes and different scents.

The stress and the guilt I felt when I was still going were really dragging me down. Like so many others have already mentioned, I felt like a huge weight was lifted off me when I stopped. I feel loads better physically and emotionally now.

JW alternatives to holidays

even though you couldn't celebrate holidays growing up as a jw, did your parents ever have alternatives instead?

in my case, we never celebrated christmas, we had "surprise day" usually a week before.

instead of celebrating thanksgiving, we would have a turkey dinner a few weeks later.

Wasting Time In The Ministry--How Did You Do It??

i know of a couple of elders that regularly went out in the ministry throughout the week.

no matter which street they were on, they always seemed to be near the same spot.

someone here talked about the michael jackson moonwalk.

Watch your language boy/girl

when we were in the org, we had to watch our language, and speak correctly and never swear.

people knew we were jw's just by the way we dressed, but also by the way we talked.

do you still talk in the same polite way as before?edited by - jh on 4 february 2003 19:29:28.

My husband uses that sort of language quite often, so in the 2 years we've lived together, his language has rubbed off on me. I'm not as bad as him, but I do use it.

Sisters and the great tribulation

just before i retire to bed my mind starts reflecting back over things i done heard that made a profound impact on my mental faculties (i guess i still have them).

anyway having worked the night shift i'm about to fall into a coma so you can imagine my minds on over-ride.

here's what i remembered.

Tee-hee! Considering that I used hairspray twice in the past year, and one of those days was my wedding, I doubt that would be on my list.

Funny, but thinking of the great tribulation was the beginning of my rebellion. I know this is a small thing, and most likely very stupid, but I remember thinking about how we would speculate that we would have to go to the KH and huddle there to be saved. I remember thinking, "I'm bringing my dog, and they can't make me put her outside. I'll stand my ground." How silly is that?

doubtless many of us have been to assemblies, and every may the km would come out with an insert about what you were expected to do and how to act.. reviewing the km's over the years , you can see the negative positve "councel".

how to dress, how to act, howt to tip!.

after reading this, doesn't it just want to make you run to attend the next d.c. ?

I always found that talk telling us how to behave at the DC boring on the level of the "blood card" boring talk. Every year the same stuff. Wear your stupid badges. Make sure you behave coz everyone will know you're a JW. Don't save seats. Blah de blah...zzzzzzzzzzzzzz....pardon my snoring.
