  i know some have posted similar topics like this, but i thought it might be kind of fun (for the new ones that are coming here in droves) and others, to give some examples of catch phrases etc, that are unique to the jw world.

  here's a few to start:.... "muster up boldness", "sound down into our hearts","satan's crafty acts", "paradisaic", "young ones"," discernment".....these are just a few of the more irritating.

  Aren't we so grateful that Jehovah has granted us the privilege of cleaning the Kingdom Hall on your one day off in the week? We should be overjoyed that we have been allowed this wondrous privilege! (*throws up*)

  Don't forget to pick up your magazines for field service this Saturday!

  One thing that separates us from the churches of the world is that we do not ask for money or pass collection plates. (Oh, but you know, if you die, you can bequeath your assets to the WTS in your will. And don't forget to contribute to the worldwide work, and the KH building fund, and the local KH fund to pay the mortgage we owe to the WTS, and the assembly hall fund to pay for the assembly in the building the WTS owns....)

  I just want to know why witnesses say you can't celebrate birthdays just cuz theres 2 instances in the bible where people were decapitated. I don't get it.

  Most of us don't get understand why, either. Their reasons just don't make much sense.

  I celebrated my first birthday when I was 27. Sort of. Just accepted greetings without explanations. My 28th and 29th birthdays were better. :)

  I don't know if I love myself, but I sure as hell like myself a whole lot more than I did as a JW. Once you stop believing in the guilt trip, it's like a huge burden is lifted off you. You suddenly feel so much better about yourself. I'm a work in progress. :)

  If Disfellowshipping Were Forcibly Banned

  what do you think would happen to the watchtower society if disfellowshipping were forcibly banned by government decree?.

  Not only that, but they'd just say that Caeser's Law is telling them to do something that goes against "God's Law" (since that's what they try to say it is), and therefore they will follow "God's Law" and disobey Caeser.

  i probably was the biggest slut in the kh- sex before baptized @ 13- sex after baptism when i was 17. oral sex about 5 times w/ different guys from the kh-- what can i say, i loved being a rebel, & love sex- i think the elders liked it to because i had to tell them the details (some guy always told), & they would probably get off later- never was disfellowshipped-- i am a good actress, but i thought the "holy spirit" guided them, well not because they believed my sobbing- --:-) kristine

  What I consider sex, no. But then they told us at the district convention that touching genitilia is considered fornication. I felt so guilty that I confessed at the convention.

  What's The Worst "Encouragement" That You've Recieved From The Brothers?

  When I left an abusive marriage and elder told me, "I have left bruises on my wife and she stays." Another said, "you have to be careful which nationality you marry into. Our sisters in the Middle East endure far more abuse than you and stay faithful."

  I would have called the police. I know it's your word against his, but I would have done it just to rattle his cage and maybe get his wife to think. The bastard.

  Brother PhotographicMemory: Elder who gives talks including remarks such as, "Do you remember the comment in the public talk of the 1973 District Convention, where the brother said...." Hell, I can't remember what I had for breakfast.

  Sister MarryMe!: Marries Brother PhotographicMemory. When he was upset because SisterHasaBrain broke off engagement with him, Sister MarryMe! says, "Well, what about me?!" They marry soon after.

  Sister ThrowsHerselfatEveryBrotherWhoWalksThroughtheDoor: Sister who thinks she is gorgeous despite having legs like tree trunks and a face to match. (Meow!) Thrusts her chest at every male who enters the KH, with the blessing of her mother, Sister NoseintheAir.

  No one came to visit you after any of your surgeries? Well, have you ever called anyone when they were sick? (Sister I Have Every Illness Known to Man But No Doctor Has Ever Found Anything really isn't high on my priority list, sorry. I have real illnesses to worry about.)

  Your husband mentally abuses you, and now you say he raped you? Well, you know what the Bible says about divorce. He hasn't cheated on you. (Kiss my arse...like I kissed his goodbye.)

  You think your father sexually abused you? Well, let us know if you know for sure. Oh, he's admitted it? Very well, we'll ignore you now. By the way, your father doesn't need to step down as an elder because it was so long ago. It doesn't matter that he's been lying about it for over 25 years. He's really sorry.

  If you ever need anything or want to talk, just let us know. (When you do, we'll ignore you for over a year, until you pester us enough that we tell your sister that you sound argumentative, so we're not going to answer you.)

  I loved the part that let us know who translated the NWT, and exactly how much knowledge of Hebrew and Greek he had. :)
