  Why do Jehovah’s Witnesses send their mentally ill door to door?

  this has been a question i have asked over and over even when i was a very devout jw.

  please do not get me wrong in thinking that i am trying to be mean or cruel or unkind to those who have mental illness, that is not in the least where i am going with this.

  what i mean is i think it is cruel to send them door to door, it puts way to much stress on them and it looks bad for the name jehovah.. it seemed that in every hall i have ever been in there were some people who were extremely mentally ill. there have always been some in every hall who were schizophrenics or suffered major depression, or other forms of mental illness.

  1) It builds comradery among the R&F for the common WT goal.

  2) Instills in the baptized that every one has to contribute something.

  3) Affords opportunities to sit down again and be treated to a long break.

  4) Gives them "that real good feeling!" in an otherwise dull day.

  5) Boosts the hours of the Congo so they can compete for assy. parts.

  6) Proves to "the world" that WT has numbers; bragging rights.

  i was discussing with an elder today, and as usual the conversation drifted towards apostates and their line of reasoning, he angrily looked into my eyes with the scriptures in his hand and told me:.

  (1) that apostates are destructive peddlers who shut the door of everlasting life on people as they are very sure they have no portion in there.

  he quoted matt 23:13- 13 woe to you, scribes and pharisees, hypocrites!

  Russell apostacized from Conley's Zion's Watch Tower.

  He bought it out, and declaired himself better than his mentors.

  Then taking on the title of "the faithful Slave", mislead the Bible Students.

  In Russell's case, he didn't shut doors, he chased them out the doors!

  JW elders are still doing it to this day. 'Serve the clique or get out!'

  today i uploaded a watchtower statement dated 1918. from a historical perspective it is one of the boldest assertions ever made by watchtower.

  but then, in the religion building business it's good form to make big claims, otherwise who'd follow.

  You've raised an interesting piont about the fathering president of the said GB.

  Wikipedia is now loaded with this hidden history. Thay report that William Henery Conley

  was the first president of Zion's Watch Tower Tract Society. (the Bible Students)

  He had connections with the Millerites, Adventists.

  It should be more clear to all that the GB's religion is verey much part of Babylon the Great!

  our dc coming up this weekend, i hated them and the only thing that kept me going ,was the reward of booze at the end of each day.my then wife,zelous judgemental pioneer, you know the type,not only droned on about my drinking, but about everyones drinking, a real barrel of laughs not.

  anyway, one year we went to another dc, in newcastle, all seemed to be going well, until lunch.we went over to a hotel for lunch,i ordered my fresh orange and food, a few minutes later, the local jw,s arrived for lunch, they had all pr-ordered drinks,alcoholic drinks, and not one drink but many !!!

  they were buisy getting boozed up for the afternoon session,way to go, i was about to join them, when my wife told me " dont even think about it ", anyway she was outraged, but there they were ,with thier little convention badges, men and women, young and old, getting merry, they dont even do that here in scotland, !!!.

  a thought occurred to me as i read a couple of posts asking about policy questions.

  many who leave jw's seem curious and surprised that someone can be disfellowshipped or get in trouble and yet another fellow jw does the same thing and nothing happens to them?.

  so they ask,' what's the policy'?
