Shunning ... when it's Convenient

i have a lifelong buddy (g) who is now df'd ....doing great and happy.

he has a nice boat.

a while back he gets a call from a very well known elder who, of course, shuns him.. elder: "hi g. i know this is a little strange, but i don't know who else to call".

The snubbing starts way before any disfellowshipping.

It's the local clique who doesn't like your honesty to wards GOD

and your love of the flock.

As soon as they sense that their grip on you has lessened,

they begin a campaign of subtle shunning! Your privileges are slowly diminished,

and you notice a hatred in the develop.

This type of power play is the standard fair in eight congo's that our family has endured!

These are the kind of people that the WT wants in charge of "it's" Halls... evil slaves!

since we kept moving to different halls to get away from one abusive elder body and pioneer carnies after another!

In the end; it was apparent that the head was also corrupt, and we left for good.

Universal Sovereignty Doctrine, re-examined.

what do you guys think about the issue of universal sovereignty?

that was one of the doctrines i thought i would never doubt in, but looking into it more, there are a lot of holes in it.

Hello all; Mr. Being here. Those last two comments were Mrs. Being.

My wife can use creative examples at times I know.

I agree with designs, Dagney and a lot of other statements here.

The belief I hold for GOD making humankind wait these eons is;

to allow man to develop his understanding before Jesus judges.

This doesn't effect GOD's sovereignty, but is a result of His justice.

Not that these centuries have been painless to humanity,

but that GOD won't have man judged with out wisdom on the matter.

That was just "for example". I don't know myself what they were thinking, no one does. It must have been something that would alter the future too much. We just don't know and have to admit it. Details are missing let's not loose focus.

We don't know for sure exactly what they were planing to do. When groups of people have the same ideas, desires, plans, they can carry them out easier. Twitter can do that, as an example. So by saying "nothing they plan" could just mean "their ideal" of a plan. Maybe it was mass slaughter of others, but it wasn't good and He knew it. When we see something will go terribly wrong with our kids actions we intervene. We don't need to read hearts at that moment. As for governments, how much time do they really need to show what they are about. I think we all want fairness because we are very caring individuals on this site. It just doesn't seem to exist for everybody, someone is always suffering because governments are showing favoritism. We all hate that about JW's. God is only guiding things along for the safety of humankind otherwise we will wipe ourselves off the planet. Free will, well that's why we we have laws otherwise it would be anarchy. I don't think we would enjoy that much, or at least not for too long.

Question about 2 Tim. 3:16

regarding 2 tim.

3:16, "all scripture is inspired by god".....since the only scripture at the time this was written was the old testament (hebrew scriptures, if you prefer), would it make sense to reason that this scripture cannot be used by itself to support new testament writings?....that the scriptures referred to in this verse were the old testament?.

as an apostle paul had authority, but to me it seems that some of the things paul wrote were related as "commands" to the congregations, whereas other things were only his suggestions or his perspective and that it was up to the individuals to decide for themselves.. your thoughts on this?.

Also on topic and of interest is; that parts of the NT were written in Hebrew, before being translated into Greek.

I'm not referring to Paul's letters or those penned by his assistant, in this instance; but like Rev. or Heb.

This was mentioned in an Awake about one year prior to my leaving the the WT's organization.

However; all of us here have learned so many new points on the Bible since gaining our freedom.

Such as this...

Some scholars point to certain idioms and assert that Aramaic was the original tongue dictated from in some NT books!

Yet, the WT is still hung up on it's NWT, and rarely mentions the Aramaic or Babylonia Pentateuch. Some here read it.

Aramaic being the dialect spoken by many returnees from the captivity, and in Galilee by Peter, Jesus and others there.

I've been enjoying and "benefiting from your comments this month. I agree with your last post here (as usual). Yet my post was not geared to wards emotional writings, or suspicious prophetic toned books. To be exact it was: Didache, Barnabas, 1 Clement, 2 Clement, and Polycarp to The Philippians; that I had in mind. This because they read as inspired books, rather then the fanciful and flowery type.

By the time Paul wrote that to Timothy,

there were in play several writings by the true "anointed" Apostolic Fathers.

These were being used by "congregations" as holy texts,

and some were not included in Constantine's Bible.

As if by GOD, these "words" did not pass away;

they've just been unattainable to most languages over the centuries.

although being religious is one of the definitions os " spiritual " it encompasses much more in the webster's new world dictionary , under the word spiritual it's definition is : " 1. of the spirit or the soul as distinguished from the body or material matters 2. of, from, or concerned with the intellect ; intellectual 3. of or consisting of spirit ; not corporeal 4. characterized by the ascendancy of the spirit ; showing much refinement of thought and feeling 5. of religion or the church ; sacred, devotional, or ecclesiastical ; not lay or temporal 6. spiritualistic or supernatural .

quite a variety of definitions !

Thanks for the follow up! Your thread is a pertinent subject to ponder. In fact, that's one of the motivators for our leaving... the congo's had an anti-spiritual effect on those not in "the loop!" During the last 5 years, we would dread the thought of driving ourselves there to be with so many snobs and controlling personality types! Mrs. Being was getting sick along the way there. She suffered allot of anguish, and even several focused attacks on her mind and emotions. Then we began to realize that the WT didn't OBEY the truth, so there was no need for us to believe the the congo's were "just imperfect" and that they would soon start OBEYING the truth! It is corrupt from head to toe. What a great relief to finally be aware of THE truth, that WT & congo's were imposter's; it was they who were not spiritual, rather than us! Oh but the mind games they play with the scriptures to make you think it's ALL you! Evil! Evil! That's what they are. Now that we're not living their lie; our minds have cleared of the manipulations, and the emotional abuse is gone! We are free, and Christ is our intercessor, not nonspiritual witness leaders and their fake[y] families!

PS: 00DAD, We've got a few similar experiences.

Could the Governing Body be the "Evil Slave" of Matt. 24:48-51?

48 but if ever that evil slave should say in his heart, my master is delaying, 49 and should start to beat his fellow slaves and should eat and drink with the confirmed drunkards, 50 the master of that slave will come on a day that he does not expect and in an hour that he does not know, 51 and will punish him with the greatest severity and will assign him his part with the hypocrites.

Since the end came for Jerusalem in 70 CE, and Jesus brothers would reside in New Jerusalem (Mt. 28:18-10) after that; any one today who claims to be "THE Slave" is as Paul says: "An impostor!" Associating with those who "play false to the Christ" is out of the question. Sad to say; many here believed in the GB, it was all we knew and no other see...med to fit the bill! Yet so many "bad reports" about them of all groups, have come out! We just had to listen to the voice of our Saviour and test the "inspired expression" from WT's mouth. And low and behold; "we found them to be lier's", "not holding true to the healthful teachings!"
